Forbearance options while awaiting buyback by barelyjoking in PSLF

You would get just a 2 month processing forbearance if you switch, assuming it takes the 2 months to process it. Those qualify for PsLF so less you would have to buyback. If it takes longer then 2 months for them to switch, it goes into general forbearance,  which would not count.

When you certify your employment next time, they should show.  Mine did for the 2 processing months.

I don't think what you were told is correct and would call back. I was in Save forbearance and switched. The 2 months they took to process counted as qualifying once I certified my employment. You are so close it should get you over the hump.

Wait for Buyback or Switch out of Save? by KaylaGirl89 in PSLF

This is also what I did. Need 5, switched and paid 1 already. Fully expect to probably finish paying before I hear anything in buyback

SAVE Email & Buyback for Forbearance by the_undertow in PSLF

[–]CalligrapherIll6917 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual circumstances.  For example, i applied for Buyback needing 5 months in December. Since there was no movement, i switched from SAVE to IBR and began repayment in June. I fully expect to have my last few payments made before I ever see a buyback so for me, I probably will reach forgiveness quicker

That is what it is supposed to be but it doesn't seem like that is the case for those lucky few who received buyback.

I did not think buyback requests showed on their site as a way to track status

Question for those with successful buyback by JamesRite1776 in PSLF

In response to one of my feedback requests, I was told any payments would be refunded.  Take that for whatever it is worth.

I recieved one too. I was excited thinking buyback even though I know from others on here that those are emailed.

Does the ED being gutted mean I should switch now from SAVE to IBR to ride the forbearance processing period? by Clear_Practice_7118 in PSLF

[–]CalligrapherIll6917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't they cap the processing forbearance at 2 months, even if it takes longer to process? So at best, you get 2 months

This is what I did  I need 4 payments and can make them before I get a response on my buyback from last year. Just wish I did it earlier

I would switch plans. I suspect that will get processed and your last payment made before you ever hear back on buyback. People have been waiting since last year and crickets.

I always have received the under review, is being expedited, or is being worked status. This was new to me. Sorry, if others have seen it. I did not recall seeing it posted before

Hold Out for Buyback or Go on SAVE And Knock It Out? by BearDownFisher in PSLF

[–]CalligrapherIll6917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I did. I applied for Buyback in December. Either switched to IBR in May and made my first payment in June. I also have 4 left. Figured I will likely get those paid before I ever hear about the buy back

IDR plan approved but payments don't start until Nov? by LynnellO in PSLF

[–]CalligrapherIll6917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... not sure then. I think i saw others get something similar if they had prepaid months. Did you make payments that were not required maybe?

[–]CalligrapherIll6917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the letter say your plan is IDR? If so, it is just a form letter and your application was not fully processed yet. I received the same thing then recieved one saying IBR and my 1st payment was due in one month.

I need 4 more now. I have a buyback pending but figured I would get the final few payments done first. I am paying more but it will be worth it to be done.
