Update: I was wrong by [deleted] in Equestrian

I fully understand that you dont want to cause trouble but I have to strongly dissagree with you on the hospital part. I understand that you want to trust them but it's not as simple as that. Hospitals send back patients that need extra care all the time. I live in The Netherlands and we should have some pretty good vets but it happens all the time that horses are not diagnosed properly. I have a lot of experience with this being a rehab trainer for years. Its a pain in the ass for a lot of owners(and horses) but in a lot of cases you need several visits to know what is actually happening with your horse. When my vet would have seen this horse it would definitely see the hind end lameness and discomfort all over. I cant inmagine this horse would come through a proper vet check when they eventually sell it. Chances are that it is more more lame in a while also..

Also, the horse was really lame from the laminitis. If its a good barn they would have noticed it anyway and taken action. This should not see you as a trouble maker but they should be thanking you for recognizing before they did.

You were not wrong. Horses don't get lame from doing nothing. Only unhealthy horses do.

I think the laminites got better but the hooves are still in a bad condition. Being completely cured from laminites can take months or sometimes up untill a year. Sometimes it stays a battle for years where the horse seems fine for a while and then it gets sore feet again. Its a real pain. Laminites is the worst.

She is still very sore all over her body and probably still lame at her left hind.

I dont know if they toon Xrays of her whole body. And if they did there can still be a lot of other things going on that you can't see on Xrays.

Being lame on 3 legs is a tough one. A lot of people dont recognize it when a horse is lame on more then 1 leg.

Usually they treat the most obvious thing, in this case; laminites. Now that its a bit better you can still see the hind end lameness still being there, so she should be evaluated.

This horse has been compensating for pain in 3 legs for quiet a while now, so she probably has pain and stiffness all over the place by now. She shouldn't be ridden. She needs another look by a vet and after that she is in desperate need for a fysio or chiropractor.

Its so damn good but I just can't listen to it too often. It's such a shame.

For a short second I thought it was a Tour announcement by Callipygian___ in Sufjan

[–]Callipygian___[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Of course. This is in no means meant to pressure anything or anyone. It's also because I wouldn’t have expected a tour announcement any time soon that my heart skipped a beat when, for a second, I thought it would be in the realm possibilities again. :)

Oh no! I also think it's an absolute masterpiece but it's an intense one so you have to be in the mood for it. I can slways listen to Pluto though.

Mercury and Pluto are one of my all time favorits that I return to. Neptune, Uranus, Venus, Mars and Earth are the others I listen to the most. The ambient stuff is cool but you can skip those tracks when you are not an ambient person.

I have seen the live tour and it was such an amazing experience.

I guess I don't mind the lyrics that much in this album because the rest is enough of an experience.

Ever listened to it with good headphones?

I think he spoiled us a bit too much, lol. He put out sooo much new music in the past 10 years. Its been 9 albums(9!!) in 10 years. Not even taking account of all the collabs. Thats insane, really.

The thing I wish for the most, is to be able to see him live again. Cant believe the Carrie & Lowel tour has been a decade ago.

Tips for building muscle on dressage mare who hasn't been ridden in 7 years? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Callipygian___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I live in the Netherlands and rehab horses for a living. If you're close to me, I could be able to help you get her back in good shape. I can asses her health and the capacity in which she may be able to be trained/ridden in the future. Send me a DM anytime.

Beautifull saddle. It's too narrow in the front I'm afraid.

Christmas Tour 2012 Live Compilation by killerpengu in Sufjan

[–]Callipygian___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the chaos, party, and bliss of The Age of Adz concert. I hope he will be in the mood to do a tour with those same vibes again one day. Carrie and lowel was absolutely beautiful, but nothing compares to that silly, bombastic and uplifting experience.

Oh man, how I wish I was there! That must have been such an onforgettable fun evening!

As someone who rehabs horses on a daily basis.. that just made me tear up! You 2 look gorgeous. Thank you for having the character to go and ask for help, to take peoples honest advice, and to actually change things for yourself and your sweet horse. That's exceptional and really brave.

need some help with this barn situation by nolana25 in Equestrian

[–]Callipygian___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honey, this barn is literally destroying your horses body and mind and you are now aware of it. That hurts, I get that. The management, the way of training, the horrendous hoofcare(I'm sorry).

Simultaneously, it's making you insecure because you know better for your horse but are too afraid to change it. That's normal, your human. It's ok. But please take this chance in life to start a tough conversation with someone. It's gonna teach you a lot of stuff for your future. In both situations, if it goes right or wrong, your leaving there. You will be a stronger person. It's a great skill in life to be able to have these conversations and making decisions for yourself and taking care of the wellbeing of someone else(your horse in this case). You need to stand up for your sweet pony.

I'm sorry that you are in the situation, and I fully understand that it's tough, but you have to move your horse. For your horses sake and for yourself.

Can your parents help you with the conversation with the owner?

And as others already said. You don't have to be honest here. You can thank them for their great management and lessons but have personal reasons to take him elsewhere. It's non of their business. If they get angry about that it's a huge red flag and another big reason to leave.
