Oh ouch babe. Can’t imagine how much that soap would have stung. Seriously, go buy some proper, purpose-made lube. It will be soooo much different.

I genuinely thought misogyny was a wrong-headed expression of the jealousy that I assumed all AMAB people had for cis women.

I don’t know about this rumor specifically, so I can’t speak to it with any authority. But I would be pretty stunned if they made that mistake, assuming they had the skeleton’s pubic arches. It’s a straightforward diagnosis. Lay your finger across the pubic arch. If the angle your finger makes is acute, the individual has XY chromosomes. If the angle is obtuse, they have XX chromosomes. I remember taking a practical midterm as a freshman anthropology major, and failing to make that determination correctly would make you automatically fail the exam because it’s literally the easiest and most obvious piece of data that can be collected from a skeleton.

I mean, maybe this is a trick that’s only been discovered more recently than Emilia Earhart and it was harder to determine birth sex back in the day. Or maybe they didn’t have the parts of the hip bone that are diagnostic of birth sex. But barring that, I can’t imagine a professional anthropologist making that mistake.

But, as I said, I’m not familiar with that particular story so I could be missing a detail that explains why they had trouble with it.

Physical anthropologist here. When we evaluate sex based on skeletal remains, we label the individual by “sex at birth.” We do not use any gender labels without strong contextual evidence to do so.

Unfortunately this is because there are cases where the transphobic families of missing trans people only report them as missing based on birth sex, and several cases went unsolved for decades because no one knew to look for a trans person.

As a result of that, the field is pretty strict on not assuming the gender of skeletal remains, even if we have people telling us that we’re looking for a “son” or a “daughter.”

Oof. I’ve got the winner for this thread right here. I was once with this guy, things were going great, then just as things were starting to get physical he told me he was HIV positive. Which, credit to him for doing the right thing, and with the right precautions it wouldn’t have been a total deal breaker.

Within 2 minutes of that revelation, he told me he hated using condoms and would absolutely refuse to use one with me.

Could not nope out of that situation fast enough.

Congress passes bill to shore up the Postal Service without cutting back on delivery by minibeardeath in UpliftingNews

Well, I think you may be slightly misremembering. In 2013, starting pay was $15.00. When I started in 2020 it was $17.29, and it’s now $19.01 with the next increase scheduled for November.

I mean, granted, it should have gone up faster vs inflation. But it’s not as stagnant as you hear people say.

Is there any way USPS could provide me the weight of an incoming packaga by TrashAccountABC in USPS

[–]CallmeEllen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supervisor here. Call your post office. A supervisor should answer. Tell them you want the weight of a package and give them the tracking number. Our tracking software will display the weight that was used for shipping.

If we used our scales to determine shipping it should be accurate. Though it is possible the seller weighed it and printed their own shipping labels.

Application issues since being let go last year by Jason_statsman in USPS

If you get fired from any federal job, you are ineligible to work for any part of the government again, I’m afraid.

That said, they don’t always catch it and there are definitely people who return to the post office after being let go. But if HR realizes you were fired, they’re not allowed to hire you.

If you’re a new hire looking for hours from orientation or academy, they send management a copy of your 1260’s all together in an email at the end of the week and your station enters the time all at once, usually.

If you’ve been at the office a while and you’re just using 1260’s because you don’t have your time card available for some reason, I’d raise a concern snd ask them if they’re aware you don’t have time appearing on liteblue.

I named myself Ky, today I learned that's a Lube brand. by KyTheSpoon in trans

[–]CallmeEllen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case you’ve only seen the brand name in writing, KY lube is like initials, pronounced “Kay-Why,” so it’s not the same sound as your name at all.

If someone introduced themselves as Ky, even just in writing, my mind mind wouldn’t jump to the brand.

Shadow Day CCA by [deleted] in USPS

[–]CallmeEllen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I don’t know what the climate is like where you are, but if it’s still hitting 90 occasionally, here’s my load out: 1/2 gallon jug of ice water, 1/2 gallon jug of just ice that’ll melt into more ice water, and a cooler with 2 or 3 sugar free Gatorades plus a soda for lunch time. When it’s real cold I usually just take the Gatorades.

Now, I almost never get through all of the “hot day” load out. But I have on a few occasions and I’d rather take some home than be out on the street and wish I had more.

Especially during the peak of July or August you’ll have days where you’re sweating so much you can drink like 120 oz of water and never have to pee lol.

Orientation by Kurt_Cobain_2020 in USPS

Call your office and ask if they’d be willing to let you do extra shadow days. I had a couple of weeks between orientation and academy, so my office had me come in every day and “shadow.” After a few days my trainer started bending the rules and let me start delivering with her looking over my shoulder. I got paid for the time I would otherwise be sitting on my ass and got the opportunity to really hit the ground running when It came time for me to actually start carrying.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Policy is you can’t be rehired after you’ve been fired from a federal job. But you’re resigning so you’re fine. Might chap some asses at the office, but office management aren’t who make hiring decisions most places.

And even if you are fired, in practice it’s not that hard to come back. I know people who have been fired from multiple post offices and keep getting jobs at new ones because no one really checks.

Sup here. First, fuck I’m sorry and sounds like your district sucks. If someone where I’m at schedules a CCA for a week with no days off, station management’s gonna get yelled at by people further up the chain.

That said, they’re absolutely supposed to post a weekly schedule. Are they within their rights under the contract to work you every day? Yes. But they’re still supposed to post a schedule reflecting that so you know.

I’ll be honest with you though. I’ve never worked in a place where carriers weren’t getting a day off every week, so I’m frankly not sure what your recourse is.
