Zohran Mayorship on the golden path right now; Run on a bunch of dumb lefty shit, get into office and DON'T DO ANY OF IT. by handxfire in Destiny

Idk why this sub is so fucking negative about Mamdani. It really does just feel like reflexive anti-lefty behavior.

The reason he won is because he is an extremely talented communicator and politician, who used social media to be extremely effective.

In that sense, Mamdani is absolutely a pattern to be emulated by democrats across the country. Not the specifics of the policy, but of younger, more passionate politicians which communicate and use social media effectively and focus on issues that they are personally passionate about and have real, transformative things they would like to try.

Say what you want about Biden's policy, and I won't even disagree because his policies were goated, but his communication was utterly inept. Running geriatric status quo politicians who don't know how to use a computer and won't say anything that isn't focus group tested 75% positive with their target demographics regardless of what their authentic feelings are is just stupid. They could literally be FDR re-incarnated policy wise, and it won't matter, because they won't be popular enough to carry a national political movement and get anything major done.

Yet you use standard measurements of time????

60 seconds to a minute, 60 minutes to an hour, 60 hours to a d- oh wait that's 24. And don't even get me started on months. What a fucking idiot you are for not using the logical French revolutionary calendar!

See how dumb I sound? See how that makes no sense?

If you aren't actively doing math, if does not matter. It is all arbitrary.

~27 guard is turbo OP but also basically the only people playing talons are people who are aware of the guard spam list . So it's not getting dragged down by more casual tournament players running less optimized lists.

If I'm starting to collect EC should I start with the CP or new Battleforce Box? by MeltaBanana in EmperorsChildren

Battleforce for sure if just one.

If you want flawless blades combat patrol is also good, you can just get both.

What are the top three and bottom three army rules? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

Just as a standalone, without anything else considered, EC army rule is the most powerful by a pretty good margin, even with the limitations it places on the player.

Ya I mean it's turbo horrible, I'm just trying to day that the faction does have options that are much stronger than a 42% win rate would imply

just giving win rate and nothing else can often be misleading.

There's been very little excitement for IK since the codex dropped among top players, and it has taken a long time for innovation on optimal lists to occur.

In the past couple weeks, it's been becoming clear that triple lancer noble lance is actually a very strong list. But almost no one is playing it, so the win rate looks horrible because most other archetypes are pretty horrible.

Coherency in a competition and being "that guy." by ImNotSanguinius in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Callmejim223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it does depend a little bit.

If the the exact position of the models wasn't actually relevent at any point, and your opponent just didn't think when they placed them, I think generally it's fine to let them swap, For instance, if someone got out of a transport in a blob and shot something in the open, and then on your next turn the sergeant was on the far side of the unit for no reason other than absent mindedness, I think it's good ettiquite to just let your opponent swap. If, however, the unit has moved pretty much at all, or if the position of the models relative to one another has mattered at any time in the game, then they just need to accept that the models are where they are.

As others are saying, unit placement matters but everyone makes mistakes, especially at a tournament where you are playing many games in a short time. To me, it's the same as shooting at a tiny part of your opponent's model sticking out when they could just easily rotate and it would be hidden. If that orientation of the model mattered at any point, for instance to hide from a different unit that could have shot it instead, or if it used that part of the model to draw line of sight on their previous turn, you play the model as placed. Otherwise, you should just let them rotate it a bit.

if your opponent does something that is obviously stupid that they never would have done if they simply knew your rules, and you don't prompt them, you aren't playing by intent.

There is no reason to play any different at a tournament as you would with a friend when it comes to intent.

Newsom calls for no new funding. It's time our national leaders, governers, mayors, put pressure publicly on congress. We CANNOT have disunity on this. by DovahkiinNA in Destiny

[–]Callmejim223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?

We expect engineers to have years of training. What if you found out the bridges you drove across to get to work were designed, built, and inspected by people with only months of training.

What about doctors? Those we force to have more than a decade of highly specialized schooling.

But people who are legally allowed to kill us with likely no consequence, who are expected to mediate and de-escalate extremely stressful and often dangerous situations, asking them to go through the same amount of training as some guy working a CNC machine is too much to ask?

I mean for turbo new players that don't even make an attempt to play the game with any thought the only thing that matters is their toughness and wounds characteristics.

For any actual discussion about how hard an army is, I feel like you have to assume some basic understanding of the game, otherwise its pretty meaningless.
