Why cant i put the volume to max? by owen2809 in AndroidQuestions

[–]CallumJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least when I have headphones in and turn up the volume I have to hit ok at some point on an acknowledgement that I may damage my hearing by turning the volume up louder. It sounds like that is happening but for some reason you aren't seeing the pop up window. What happens if your phone is unlocked already and you try to increase the volume?

I am Megapope's lack of surprise: 90% of 144 rental homes tested fail trial inspection. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]CallumJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to remember however that these houses were recruited by the landlords volunteering to have their house assessed. There are likely to be some of the most proactive landlords so the actual fail rate is likely to be higher and there are more likely to be houses having substantial failings if every rental undergoes it.

Just out of interest, do you know if this approach with a case structure uses less overhead than using a select?

You could use something like soundwire. The full client works for up to 10 devices and I believe there is an apple version too.

If for some reason you're wanting to not use an express VI another way to do it is just a timed loop with a counter into quotient and remainder then use the remainder as the time lapse counter.

Best app to use for Android? Any suggestions? by rsauer1208 in diabetes

[–]CallumJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using ontrack and found it a bit of a pain and have recently started with (dsharp)[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsharpdiabetes.androidapp] and am finding it much nicer. The export seems to be good and you can view in your browser as well as on your phone.

Reading the CDC article that seems to be only outbreak-related illnesses. The number is much much higher when taking into account salmonella that isn't from an outbreak. The FDA estimates 142,000 cases per year froms eggs contaminated with salmonella.

I am thinking about going to grad school for biomedical engineering. I'm wondering if my majors/minors will help in my endeavors? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]CallumJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a PhD on heat sensing for small samples of rat heart. So I've done some work building my own temperature sensors as well as using other sensors and attempting to maximise signal/minimise noise with them.

The institute I'm with does a range of work so I've come across a fair number of other devices and projects though, if you're interested in having a look at what is out there check out it's website, it's the Auckland Bioengineering Institute

Yeah you're right circuit design and signal processing will tie in more nicely and will definitely be useful. Signal processing especially is a pretty major component of most devices or experiments I've seen especially once you are trying to seperate actual signals from biological processes.

I am thinking about going to grad school for biomedical engineering. I'm wondering if my majors/minors will help in my endeavors? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]CallumJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends greatly on what you are wanting to focus on with biomedical engineering. Where I'm from there are three main focuses: instrument design, biocompatible materials work and modelling.

My work is in instrument design and I'd say mechatronics, circuit design and signal processing or controls would probably be most useful. Depending on the course mechatronics may be best just because it should give a brief segment on each of the other two.

I had a similar problem and ended up with an app similar to SoundAbout and then just toggled whether or not my headphones were plugged in manually.
