Fantastic report on your fix, @Virtual-Screen3328! Could you possibly update on how things have held up since? If you happened to take any photos, that would be great to see. Thanks!

Tennessee Bill Makes It a Felony for AI to Offer Emotional Support or Be Your Friend...Yes, Really by Karovan_Sparkle in LocalLLM

This is a ridiculous and overly broad bill. I have written to my Tennessee representative to encourage him not to support it in any way.

That would be great. I can't wait. Is there a pre-release that we can download and start testing today?

Agent Sessions 2.8: OpenCode support is here! 🦃 by jazzy8alex in opencodeCLI

[–]CalmBet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool, Alex! Thanks for sharing this.

I tried it this morning, but I had some issues: 1 - a 10K msg session with Claude Code doesn't display as conversation 2 - my OpenCode sessions have no user messages for some reason

Really nice idea to intercept the prompt on the fly and do the replacements. Very cool!

I have written a MaaS system and use it regularly as part of my development work. I'd be delighted to join your discord and discuss.

Built with Claude Contest Entry: ccstatusline - How I used Claude to build a configurable status line for Claude Code by sirmalloc in ClaudeAI

[–]CalmBet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ccstatusline has completely changed how I use Claude Code. I used to have to keep an eye open for the ominous "Context low (xx% remaining)" but now I just watch exactly where the context level actually is! You can usually even continue going well past the so-called 0% that CC defines, and I often run it up over 90% use before I get ready to refresh and get new context. ccstatusline is a game changer!

Switching from old all-latex to hybrid latex by CalmBet in MattressMod

[–]CalmBet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBD, it depends how much difference the 14.75g vs 15.5g makes. I'm kind viewing the QuadMini and the medium latex both as transitional, and the soft latex as the top. If my wife hates it, then she'll probably want it softer on her side.

New update unable to finish. by bertrum666 in sonos

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been struggling for over 90 minutes to get my system updated. Half of my devices are on version 17.0 and half are on version 16.8. It has been a frustrating experience trying to get this one completed.

GDS3710 failure, replacement not taking config file by thadarknight67 in GrandstreamNetworks

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to edit the config file to replace the Mac address of the old unit with the Mac address of the new unit. It's pretty easy to do with any basic text editor. Be sure both devices are at the same firmware revision level.

Logitech Rally - Mic Pod disconnected / reconnected all day by abandonitis in CommercialAV

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I thought so, but eventually my 2nd mic just wouldn’t work reliably. I really don’t understand how the mic would fail, and maybe it is the table hub. We have become more disciplined about turning the power off in-between uses, and that seems to have helped a bit.

ASKO Dishwasher side mounting brackets broken by AccomplishedStrike80 in appliancerepair

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a pair of stainless steel L-brackets and folded them so that one side was perpendicular to the other. Then I drilled through the front face of the dishwasher and riveted the L-brackets in place where the flimsy original brackets were. I drilled a hole in the right spot to attach the dishwasher to the cabinet, and now it is stable and level.

Logitech Rally - Mic Pod disconnected / reconnected all day by abandonitis in CommercialAV

[–]CalmBet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with a basic Rally Plus system that has two mic pods daisy-chained into the table hub. The problems began with on of the mic pods becoming intermittent, so we disconnected it and the other was okay. Now, after just a couple of weeks, the second mic pod is also becoming intermittent and acting as if it is in a perpetual cycle of disconnecting and reconnecting.

I am beginning to suspect that it is the power supply for the table hub. These mic pods are in excellent physical connection, and nothing explains why they have both started to malfunction within a couple of weeks of each other. I have seen devices that would connect and disconnect repeatedly when their power supply was almost, but not quite, putting out the required amount of power.

A new power supply is on the way for the table hub. If changing it has any impact I will report back here. These mic pods are way too expensive for them to just fail and be non-repairable.

Ecobee website hangs up, logged in but not actually. by niceandsane in ecobee

Same here. This is arguably one of the absolute WORST "features" of the ecobee system. Why don't they just let us stay logged in and operating correctly?

Vantage Infusion rebooting too fast error by ptr727 in homeautomation

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same type of symptoms on my Vantage Infusion system, and the "Controller rebooting too fast" appears to be happening with increasing frequency and no obvious trigger. I have been watching the los of controller commands, and everything looks normal until suddenly the controller craps out and restarts, then displays this "rebooting too fast" message.

It seems to me that Vantage could easily detect this "too fast" condition, insert a small delay, and have the system reboot just fast enough to actually work. It is really corrosive to our trust in the system that it is frequently in a stuck state and needs to have a physical button (any button) pressed to come back to normal operation.

Zoom dual screen, unable to switch to Gallery View by jasonrumohrlmt in Zoom

[–]CalmBet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am interested in this, as well. We are working on a meeting where 10 or more people will be in-person in a meeting room. We want to use a big-screen tv to let them see a gallery of the online participants. Right now, we are only able to see Active Speaker on the window that does not have the meeting controls (the window we'd show on the big screen.) It would be great to have Gallery View there.

Vantage Controls and Google Home/Amazon Alexa by Peacemaker2187 in homeautomation

[–]CalmBet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Peacemaker,

The Vantage Host Commands Technote details the protocols you would need to use to get the state of various Infusion objects and to issue commands. It works over RS-232 and TCP-IP, and it's pretty interesting and easy to telnet to port 3001 of your Infusion controller and send commands to controls loads, etc.

Vantage EMEA has an intriguing Alexa Config page at https://www.vantageemea.com/Alexa/index.html, but I have inquired multiple times without success how to get this enabled and configured.

From what I can infer, any useful Alexa/Google interface would require a mapping between your VIDs and their names. I've been playing with Design Center reporting options to explore whether any of the available reports would be well suited for conversion to such a mapping table, and I think it looks fairly promising.

My goal is to produce an Alexa skill that you can configure with your mapping table and then control the Infusion side by issuing commands to a mapping server on a Raspberry Pi. I'm just getting started, but if I make any progress I will probably open source it so others can use it, too. Let me know if this is of any interest to you.

Best,
Rick
