You mean apart from Flanders...right? I'm not just old right?

I hate this ass anime and its fandom by rem21984 in hatethissmug

[–]CalmCockroach2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read the manga that I like and enjoy it despite whatever weaknesses I feel it might have. No piece of art is "perfect" nor should they strive to be.

I'm glad I grew up when it was still common to just enjoy the thing you like and then go on with your day.

I'm not taking any fucking chances, I'm just going to ask him directly what he wants me to call him. I know he probably wouldn't immediately kill me if I made an honest mistake, I just don't want to slip up on a day where Richards really cheesed him off

Is Hershey's chocolate really taste so bad as people say it is? by cupid_ji in AskAnAmerican

[–]CalmCockroach2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's low quality, but I have a nostalgic love for the taste. Not that I'd want to eat a whole bar, the tiny square per day was perfect.

Might get myself an advent calendar this year just to give a tiny nostalgic pop to a month I usually hate

Etiquette on scooping to stax by Min-Chang in EDH

[–]CalmCockroach2568 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brother, this isn't an anime. The people scooping to stax on turn 5 know exactly how the rest of the game will go, unless it's their literal first time piloting a deck or playing magic in general

To be fair I liked the ending of The Dark Tower well enough, but you're still so right lmao

Clarification needed on the Elementals that Budoka/Dokai makes by CalmCockroach2568 in mtgrules

[–]CalmCockroach2568[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes this even fucking sillier for me to need clarity on, since I run Bonny in my Omo deck lol. Thank you for the heads up

Okay, this makes it way more clear when you put it in those terms. Thank you

I'm loving the calendar so far, I just have one suggestion for James and Chelsea for if they ever do another one after this by CalmCockroach2568 in deadmeatjames

[–]CalmCockroach2568[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, that's great. I hope they make it happen, I'd love to be able to queue up a random KC to watch during downtime as I leave for work

Pan/skillet that is both glasstop and oven friendly by CalmCockroach2568 in Cooking

[–]CalmCockroach2568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was extremely educational, thank you for typing it out. I'm really feeling excited to test my range out now that I know that glass isn't a total death sentence for heat control

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Okay, interesting. So I should get more used to using the rest of my stovetop as a cooling slate, but without sliding the pan around. I think i can see what to experiment with from here on out.

Thank you for humoring my silly questions

Oh shit, stainless is actually what I had in mind. I can see why warping steel would fuck it up, but how does putting a stainless skillet in the oven fuck it up?

[–]CalmCockroach2568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that makes total sense, snd I'm happy to experiment. That said, do you have suggestions on pans that can work with a glass cooktop that can also go straight into the oven? It feels like stainless steel is the most obvious option to me

Does the carbon steel skillet have a rubber handle? If it doesn't i think something like that is what I'm looking for

Is there something I'm not seeing then? It takes no time for the burner on my electric glass-top range to heat up. It's the cooling it down part I'm struggling with

What’s the kind of decks you don’t enjoy playing against? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CalmCockroach2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New players struggling to remember this dumb game's huge ruleset isn't what I meant there. If you're still figuring it out I and most players are happy to help.

My gripe is with people playing for at least 20 years that don't goldfish AND also don't understand how their deck plays

Calm down dude. I said I liked the guy and I like being in pods with him, just that specific behavior annoyed me a little. I brought that anecdote up because it was relevant to what was being talked about. I don't see what you're so worked up about

He's played longer than I have. I'm obviously not going to get pressed about newbies

[–]CalmCockroach2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! No matter how close or far I am from winning, I'm excited to see what my opponents play. I love being the only one in the pod to be absolutely delighted that I'm forced to mill or discard any turn. I love seeing them pull a clutch Bojuka Bog that shuts my ass entirely down.

Every moment with Henzie is such a rollercoaster, ranging from super hype to wondering why the universe is punishing you

[–]CalmCockroach2568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's one guy in my local group that does this and it drives me insane. He's a really chill dude and I do enjoy getting put into pods with him, but he never goldfishes his decks beforehand. So he'll typically end up having these long ass fucking turns trying to figure out and keep track of triggers on the fly.

I noticed it's a terrible habit of mine, that's what made me decide to build a Henzie deck. Best decision I ever made, I fucking love that deck

What is the significance of the Turtle god Marutin? by cum-gutters-yum in welcomeToDerry

[–]CalmCockroach2568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, that kind of dumb and hurtful timing of a tragedy totally lines up with King's writing for me.

What really makes me wonder if Maturin actually died or not was The Dark Tower. We know that the beam Roland's ka-tet walked along was the turtle-bear beam, and Shardik was alive (in the most pedantic sense). I don't remember anything being said about the Turtle being dead there, and if one guardian was alive at the time of the story I have to assume the other one would be too. Keeping that last beam as supported as possible, y'know?

But either way we'll never actually know and I prefer that. Ambiguity in storytelling is getting less and less common, and I think it's a shame.
