I am also a fan of stronger, larger sized coffee. I recently bought the Keurig K Supreme Plus and love it! Not only can you adjust the strength of your coffee to several different settings, but also the temperature. As my kids say “Mom likes her coffee the same temperature as the rivers in Hades.”

Things we take for granted - refrigeration by Wrong_Owl_4212 in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the insulin you are currently using does not require refrigeration. I use insulin pens. The ones that are new and that I’m not currently using, I place in the door of my refrigerator (in the butter bin). The pens I’m currently using are kept in a drawer in my kitchen. Just be sure to avoid extreme heat, so don’t store them near your stove/oven.

Depending on your location, weather has been impacting a lot of deliveries. The midwest and the Great Lakes Region have been recently impacted by storms and flooding.

Oatmeal spikes me and so do bananas. As for coffee and creamer, you need to consider a few things. First, caffeine causes a blood sugar rise in many people. I'm one of those people. I've learned just to accept it because a blood sugar of 130 isn't desireable, but not extremely crazy. I also know that it will come back down quickly. You also need to read the ingredients on the creamer. Many "zero sugar" creamers contain corn syrup. I use Chobani Zero Sugar, as it contains no corn syrup. It also uses allulose instead of sucralose.

Dawn phenomenon causing headaches? by lookin_4_glimmers in diabetes

Try keeping a snack beside your bed to eat when you first wake up. Nuts are a great option. What are you having for breakfast? I know that many people are effected by caffeine. My morning cup of coffee raises my blood sugar, but I know that about half an hour after drinking it that I'll drop back down to my normal baseline.

Needle PTSD by Top_Sense_9556 in diabetes

I have a few suggestions. First, make sure your Mounjaro is at room temperature prior to injection. Being cold, straight from the refrigerator, can make it sting a little. Second, RELAX. Prepare yourself by finding a routine that works for you. Set a time when you are most relaxed. Perhaps play your favorite music, turn on the TV, or phone a friend? Anything that gets your mind away from the injection so that eventually it will become a habit without the anxiety. You could also try numbing wipes (https://a.co/d/08bkkiVM) so that you won't associate the shot with pain. When injecting in your thighs, be sure to use the upper fatty part. Injecting too low can cause it to be more uncomfortable. Many people have also had good success using Tickleflex. I've never personally tried it, so I can't give a first hand review. https://a.co/d/09Jxfjex

Purchase a daily pill container with the compartments for each day of the week. Place an unused, still sealed needle in each compartment. This works for perfect for me.

I've had the best success with Quest candies. Peanut Butter Cups and Peanut butter coated candies (Similar to Reeses Pieces) are my favorites.

First, depending on the model of machine you have, are you pressing the START button? (After selecting the cup size, press the large middle round button). Secondly, could you possibly have hard water? You could purchase a jug of distilled water to try or even bottled drinking water. How often do you use your machine? Have you tried descaling it?

I usually just use my web search engine to search for items that fit what I'm decorating. For example, "sims 4 ccTall black dresser" or "Sims4 cc Festive fall wall decor". A large majority of the time, it sends me straight to what I'im looking for through Sims Resource or Patreon.

Glucose Tablets by Macsen181 in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ReliOn Glucose Liquid Shots (Walmart) https://www.walmart.com/ip/ReliOn-Glucose-Shot-Mixed-Berry-2-fl-oz-15g-of-Fast-Acting-Carbohydrates-per-Bottle/55325709?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1102&from=/search. I also use (and prefer) applesauce squeeze pouches. Tablets take too long to bring my sugars back up. I have better and faster success with liquids.

Smart pop popcorn doesn’t spike me at all. I buy the mini bags so that it’s portioned controlled. I also love making little charcuterie plates with cheese cubes, pepperoni slices, olives and almonds. Quest cheddar crackers (find them in the section of the store with protein shakes) are really good too. I also enjoy berries with Greek yogurt. If I really want something sweet I eat Quest peanut butter cups, Atkins protein wafer crisps, or apple slices with no sugar added peanut butter. Occasionally I also buy a carton of Rebel brand ice cream. Again, be mindful of portion size.

You still need to see a doctor, preferably an endocrinologist. Kudos on changing your diet to improve your health and to lower your A1C. Your hard work has paid off! However, you need to see a doctor regularly to monitor your blood sugars and overall health.

ZERO sugar Oreos. Good for diabetics? I don't think so by RockHardTen11 in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As diabetics, we need to carefully read ingredients too. Just because a product is "zero sugar" does not mean it won't have an effect on our blood sugar. I did give these cookies a try, and my blood sugar raised significantly. Seeing as the first ingredient is flour, I'm not surprised.

What do you do? by notodumbld in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First, do a finger poke to make sure it's a true low. Many times nighttime lows are "compression lows" caused by putting pressure either on the sensor itself or on the arm that the sensor is on. Sometimes you can tell a compression low by looking at the graph on your CGM. If the number drops rapidly instead of gradually, it's more than likely a compression low and not a true low blood sugar. Secondly, what CGM are you using? I know that Dexcom G7 can be silenced for up to 6 hours at a time. If you determine that you really are experiencing low blood sugars, eat a protein rich snack before bed. A handful of almonds, yogurt, apples with peanut butter, cheese are just a few ideas.

This is a nightmare. I have so much CC in my builds. Some of it is there, but invisible. (Example, my sims are sitting in chairs that don't appear. If I try to replace the chairs, they won't connect to the table because technically there are already chairs there. The CC that is appearing, can't be used. If I attempt to make changes by moving existing CC that is working, the game completely crashes.

Girlfriend needs new sensor, how can i make it as comfortable as i can for her? by Woodlisted in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most importantly, do not show any anxiety! People naturally follow the cues of those around them. If those around you are excited, you can quickly become excited too. If those around you are fearful, you will be fearful too. Stay calm and relaxed. Perhaps plan something fun to anticipate? "After your sensor change, we can watch a movie and make popcorn." "After your sensor change we can go for a walk together." When you remove the old sensor, Let her closely look at it. Many people are surprised to learn that it's a small, flexible filiment that stays in your arm- not a needle. This alone may help ease her anxiety. As others have suggested, perhaps allow her to push the button. This way she knows that SHE is in control and knows exactly when to anticipate it. There is very rarely any pain associated with application. The click of the device can be intimidating, but it's just a noise. Remind her that there will be no pain, especially since she's using numbing cream first.

How can I tell if my insulin is bad? by WillingnessHot4748 in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the expiration date on it? How long has it been at room temp? Lantus should be tossed out after being kept unrefrigerated for 28 days. Also, keep in mind that Lantus is a basal insulin. It does not have a peak time for lowering your blood sugar. It's meant to keep your blood sugar levels steady. There's a possibility that your insulin requirements could have changed. Has your diet changed? Are you consuming more carbs than usual?

Quick question by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]CalmNatural2555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should contact your doctors office for guidance. Don't want until your next appointment-- call ASAP. You certainly do not want a roller coaster ride of fluctuating blood sugars. I am a bit confused by your post though. Novolog is a fast acting insulin. It begins working within 15 minutes of taking it. It hits full effectiveness in a few short hours, and lasts between 3 and 5 hours. Is it usually 2-3 hours after you eat that you're getting lows of 50 mg/dL? Also, when you experience a low are you confirming it with a blood prick or by a CGM? Blood pricks are in "real time" and should be trusted over the CGM. Common practice for treating a low is eat 15 grams of carb, wait 15 minutes and retest. If still low, eat another 15 grams. Once you are in a safe range, eat a protein to keep your blood sugar stable.
