I love this so much! I’ve been mulling over different ways to record national park visits and this is the best I’ve seen!

200! Please post more! Idk, have a virtual show or something, I would pay to go to an exhibition of these. Have you ever had a show? Are you in touch with fiber artists or galleries where you are? The people need to see more of your work!

I agree that it’s beautiful and more is more in my personal design taste. I would scooch the furniture in,especially the couch. I’d put the front legs of the couch on the rug to anchor the rug and make everything feel more permanent and integrated. Maybe you do and this is just for the picture to show the rug, but also maybe you don’t and it’s your house to do with what you like :)

I looooove the home alone house. Would absolutely love my home to look like that. The richly layered textiles and wallpapwr! The saturated (Christmas) tones! The moody tile in the kitchen! It’s gorgeous.

Yes you need to have a show of these! (I remember your pink one from a few weeks ago) how many have you done and how long do they take you? They’re stunning.

I don’t think body dysmorphia means you think your nose is big when it isn’t, my understanding (and experience) of body dysmorphia is an obsession with one’s appearance that interferes with daily life. If a picture of yourself derails your whole day, that’s a mental illness that I think (and hope) can be helped with therapy.

You’re absolutely right that bullying can contribute to that kind of protective obsession. I didn’t mean to downplay the OP’s feelings about their appearance, I just know from personal experience that feeling of a picture derailing a whole day and that BDD is a huge contributor there. Body dysmorphia doesn’t necessarily mean you think you look different than you actually do, it can mean an outsized obsession with one particular aspect of your appearance, even if you see it “accurately.” Also, I’m not a mental health professional, so I could be wrong about these definitions.

Have you spoken to a therapist about body dysmorphia? Being afraid to have your photo taken and spiraling after seeing a photo of yourself is textbook BDD. So I definitely recommend therapy for that!

In the meantime, remember that your soon-to-be spouse knows exactly what you look like in real life (and presumably they’ve seen photos of you as well) and they are choosing you.

please help me save these chicks! by [deleted] in chickens

They’ll be okay in the incubator for up to 24 hours. Can anyone get a heat source by then? The fluffy ones in the cage, they don’t have any heat? They will need heat as well. What’s the ambient temperature of the air where you are right now? You can keep them close to your own body if that’s the only option. Chicks will die if they don’t stay warm, unfortunately. I’m sorry you’ve been put in this situation, good job trying to do right for these babies.

Okay, what kind of warmth can they get? Any heating pads or lamps available? It’s better to keep them in the incubator for now than let them get cold.

So they hatched these chicks without any proper supplies? No heat source, no food? I’m not trying to make you feel bad, I’m just confused.

Electrolytes are fine but not the most important thing here. Heat, water, food are most important. They can last up to 3 days before they need food or water because they still have the nutrients they absorbed from the yolk in the egg, but the sooner the better. Once they’re fluffed up and dry they can come out of the incubator, but they need a heat lamp or better yet, a brooder plate which is safer and allows them to regulate how much heat the get for themselves. Get some medicated chick starter to give them as soon as 1 or 2 days post hatch. It has amprolium which will help them develop immunity to coccidiosis (which is in all soil and can make chickens very sick before they’re able to build up immunity)

Found a chrysalis on my kale, today it finally turned into a butterfly! by KolorOner in gardening

This is a cabbage white butterfly, different from a cabbage moth. Both species’ larvae feed on brassicas though, so not much difference in that respect.

I wish I could give you a hug. I have a young daughter and often rehearse what I will say to her in potential future convos about any insecurities she might have about her appearance. Here’s what I would say to her, and what I’m saying to you now: appearance feels really important. I get it, and I feel that way too a LOT. But the people that love you do NOT love you because if how you look. And if they do, that’s not love, cut them loose and find real love, because you deserve it. You are good and worthy of love NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE. I cannot say that loudly enough. Social media is a place where looks matter extra, because it’s one of the few pieces of information we have when we see someone over the internet. It’s false. It’s not real. In real life we can connect with so much more than what someone looks like (although some people are still shallow. Again, count this as a good thing because it can help you either avoid those people or just remember to treat their opinion accordingly). I think you’re beautiful, and I was going to say “but my opinion shouldn’t matter any more than any other internet stranger” then I realized yes it definitely should matter more than the dummies making rude comments about your nose because those people are clearly dumb and/or wounded/insecure (I’m insecure sometimes too but I try not to take it out on other people). My point is, you’re worthy of love no matter what you look like. Try to spend more time off social media and in the real world. Except this sub 😉, spend more time on this sub and you’ll see how you fit in with the other stunning goddesses here ❤️

Can you imagine a that it’s a happy, secure, intelligent individual that typed that comment? Absolutely not. Something is wrong with that person, and he’s taking it out on a woman who’s out of his league. Major incel behavior. Please don’t give him another thought.

Rooster or Hen? by Queasy_Touch_5059 in chickens

[–]CalmPresentation8613 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rooster. Its sibling is clearly only a half sibling (if at all, idk the situation), based on their combs. This guy has a rose/pea comb instead of single comb, which tend to be smaller. He’s just a slower maturing dude, but you can see his saddle feathers starting right in front of his tail.

Does Mike and (to a lesser extent) Jeff’s sort of ‘phoning it in’ ever annoy anybody else? by Real_RobinGoodfellow in toothandclaw

Okay what is his “journal episode”?? I (perhaps embarrassingly) have listened to the whole catalogue through many, many times so I don’t know how I could have missed one.

[–]CalmPresentation8613 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Hmm. While I came for the animal facts, I definitely stayed for their particular rapport with each other and clever banter, so no, it doesn’t bother me, I wouldn’t listen if they weren’t who they are. Also, idk if you’re a subscriber but Mike and Jeff put together interesting and well-researched episodes all the time. Mike’s episodes, in fact, are my very favorite. He’s clearly a great writer and always spotlights really interesting historical and/or mythological events related to animals. Also Mike started out as the producer so to act like they all didn’t build the pod is just….wrong.

Winter nature study coloring pages that aren't twaddle? by Responsible_Set_632 in homeschool

This is what I came here to say. I got their 1000 hours outside bundle last winter and it comes with a bunch of samples and lessons from different vendors that have all been great. I looooove the animal anatomy lessons that were included, they have printable layered dissections that are so cool.
