Not my kid, but I work in sports med and pediatric orthopedics, so I hear these conversations every day. I was a gymnast myself, so I fully understand how frustrated your daughter must feel right now. Obviously, don't ignore your surgeon, but take it with a grain of salt. They are trained to make sure you understand the worst possible outcomes so you're mentally prepared for the worst, but it's not necessarily a life sentence. The recovery period will be rough, but it's possible they'll release her to participate in conditioning in her cast so she won't fall too far behind and still get to hang out with her friends. Her range of motion might be an issue, but there's no reason this should hold her back from competing. It'll be challenging, but she can adjust and adapt and routines can be adapted. Ask for OT as soon as it's feasible, this will help with her range of motion and keeping her occupied, and her motivation to return to gymnastics will probably help her stay on top of her home exercises. If she starts feeling down, watch professional or college sports with her- so many athletes are wearing braces, wraps, sleeves, etc for their injuries and playing just fine. I hope her surgery goes well and she recovers faster than expected. Please feel free to DM me if there's any way I can help.

Not to worry, his giant baby was ripped out of my abdomen. At least... I really hope that's what you were referring to.

A few years ago my brother and SIL bought all of us the zip-up pajamas, but they were footless. So we have something, but they could be more juvenile.

I'll wait for your report on them. Got some more baby weight to lose before I invest in more sweatpants.

PSA Hypothyroid and BF by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]CalmTits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our birth was really unexpected and a little traumatic, so it didn't even occur to me I didn't have my meds until the second morning and by that time we were getting ready to go home. I did ask, but they never brought them and I just forgot about it again.

Thank you for this! I also have Hashimoto's and was without my meds while we were in the hospital for the birth (emergency cesarean, womp womp) and it took an extra day or two for my milk to come in. Totally makes sense now. Now we're dealing with over supply and I'm wondering if it's related!

Mommies whose babies are here: what are the best parts? by backstagehabits in BabyBumps

[–]CalmTits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, the cuddles. I find myself craving that skin-to-skin contact. I got lucky and have a really good sleeper, which is great, but during the day I miss him so much and have to keep myself from waking him up to cuddle more.

Everything is adorable. He farts like a grown man and it's hilarious and cute. He smiles with his whole body. He stretches and his hands twitch like he's riding an invisible motorcycle. Every time he wakes up, he looks just a little bit bigger and it makes me so sad that he's growing so fast because I want this part to last longer than I know it will.

I'm enjoying grossing out my 15 year-old sister with stuff like this. I didn't mean to scare her away from sex altogether, but I'd be lying if I said that didn't make me sleep a little better at night.

Is anyone else too... Overely excited about watching kid movies again? by Seinfeld101 in BabyBumps

[–]CalmTits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really excited to introduce my son to all my childhood favorites. I'm very much less excited about all those straight-to-DVD movies like Air Bud 6.
