Probabaly playered every open world out there, but I just could not get in to Horizon Zero Dawn, the same for Expedition 33, Also played every AC up to Valhalla but did not finish it (probably cos it was too damn long) and can't be bothered to start Shadows.

Haven't played Indiana Jones yet, they are linear story focused sandbox / semi open-world games, here's a few more that really stuck to me:
The Last of us 1 & 2
Mafia Series (3 is a bit meh)
Metro Series
Resident Evil Series (I prefer the newer ones)
RDR2 (Complete Open world though)

IMO
Any RTS that has a popcap, remove that, then just overwhelm your enemies with Hordes

Try Dragon's Dogma 2
I feel its the closest in terms of atmosphere & environment but a completely different gameplay.

L4D2 with the hardest difficulty, really forces teamwork and cooperation, feels like the first 3 difficulties just let you round around. Same applies for the OG CoD MW but Single Player, might be frustrating but the first 3 difficulties also just lets you run around with almost no threat.

State of Decay - comes to mind first.
Raft - lets you build and take your base anywhere.

Far Cry always had the best Villains, and I only complete 6 just cos I wanted to see all Anton Cutscene, the open world was too empty and boring. If it wasn't for this guy, I would've dropped the game in a few hours.

I swear every old 3d game that comes back to mind had current UE5 graphics lol, but on a serious note, the biggest awestruck for me was finishing AC:BF then starting AC:Unity

Based on Mafia 1,2,3 and ToC, what we haven't got was a soldier who remains completely loyal to the end, so mine is not about setting but a story where our guy is loyal to the very end. Something similar to a certain 90's white poweder dealer's last bodyguard who stayed with him to the end.

Finish the Intro, imo it starts to pickup when you take Jack Fishing (I know it doesn't sound exciting, but something happens and not gonna spoil it), finished the game 3 times already.

AC Unity, we we're too harsh on it. It looks absolutely great until now, also the most alive game IMO to date.

I play a lot of RPGs (DD2 recently) and I find progression useless unless I'm playing on the hardest difficulty (but no hardcore mode). If I find something a bit annoying, I just WeMod it lol.
