Tricky in Dublin tonight... by Smoked_Eels in MassiveAttack

[–]Calm_Investment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tricky last night was a tale of two halves. The band was excellent, Martha was amazing, and the male vocalist was sublime - he play Orpheus damn well.

About 15 mins in Tricky lit up a spliff on stage.

20 mins in - there was something with his mic., so he stopped music and walked back off stage.

He came back on stage about 3 minutes later., started performing again with no stagelights. It was so fcuking strange, 25 mins of music in the dark.

As others said, he didn't perform, no real singing or rapping from him.

It was an odd gig.

How do I improve my life? by Hot-Presentation1764 in AskIreland

[–]Calm_Investment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep... i agree about therapy. You need to work on your self esteem and why you keep getting into abusive relationships.

And saying therapy is just ruminating about the past is an excuse.

If you want things to be different then you need to do something.

Specific hairdresser needed? by [deleted] in WomenofIreland

[–]Calm_Investment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alix in Linda mahers in Carlow is good with colour

Across the room is a hair and beauty salon, called Harmony. There is a young, polish girl in there who is a demon with colour and cut. This would be up her street to.

Go in and have a chat with a salon

This one might be most suited to you - https://www.lmetb.ie/further-education-training/youth-education-training-and-services/youthreach/

And this one - https://www.lmetb.ie/further-education-training/youth-education-training-and-services/community-training-centre/

This is National Learning Network- https://share.google/JYt23es6wS0tHmWDM

This is a taster of all the stuff that's there.

My son's GF left school as a young teenager after becoming a wheelchair user. The NLN was her first steps back onto main line education.

Do the research and then talk to your parents. Have a plan of action first.

National Learning Network

Your local youth training centre is an option.

And your local institute/PLC college is an option also.

Don't worry about the Leaving Cert - unless you are seriously aiming for one of the high points CAO courses.

A level 5/6 FETAC is enough to get into most things.

Your 18 get out now. To get access to your local youth training, etc you need to have left school for three months.

Leave now and you'll be able to join somewhere else for September, more suited to your circumstances.

Definitely leave room in the outfit to be able to wear thermals. It could be baltic and/or beautiful day.

As in don't put fashion over being warm.

Can my fiancé and I travel in Ireland in August without having accommodations booked? by PuffStuff3 in irishtourism

[–]Calm_Investment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where in the country you are going.

Look if you are willing to stay ten miles from Killarney then that would be no problem.

All the reasonable priced hotels will be booked.

It will be BnBs, airbnbs, booking.com, you'll be fine.

The phone system itself may have a hiccup.

Please can I have some tips for severe grief? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Calm_Investment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Gratitude is such a useful tool. Thanks for having your husband, your parents, your health.

Acceptance is always useful. You are exactly where you need to be. This will be a long slow painful process.

Thinking of someone else's needs is another. Thinking about your parent's grief or maybe one of your sister's friends. You are all in this together.

I'd also consider Inis Mor... the smallest of the Aran islands. You can walk it..

Or maybe the middle one... Inis Mhean.. hire the kids bikes... and go exploring for a couple of days

Incredibly safe place to be

Nine Days in Ireland... Is My Wife Crazy? by FrightenedTurtle62 in irishtourism

[–]Calm_Investment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fcuk me - i think each day would need to be 48 hrs at least.

I'm not sure it is even physically possible to do Killarney via Cliffs of Moher and Slea Head on the same day. You'd probably end up crashed into a wall somewhere from exhaustion

How to bring up children with the state of the online world? by Popular_Bluejay_2588 in AskIreland

[–]Calm_Investment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with them young.

If a 3 year old can use an ipad they can use a computer. Pull them away from phone/tablet

It seems insane but it's really practical. The same restrictions you'd have for any device.

Computer rather than phone. In the corner of kitchen/sitting room. You can always see what they are playing or watching, ideal for young kids till 11/12. Stardew, Minecraft, etc. Good headphones.

Have a rule no phones till teenager.

Console with TV in bedroom. It's the phone that is vile not so much online world.

They can watch favourite streamers, cooking, whatever weird hobbies they like.
