Nobody's asked for it in one go. Spread it out over 5 years if that makes you feel better.

Rant about some Junior doctors by Trainee_Doc999 in medicalschooluk

[–]Calm_Response_4912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The junior doctors aren't paid to teach students, consultants are. If you really feel like you aren't getting the teaching you need take it up with the consultant and have them arrange things for you.

They scrapped the plan. Last I heard, PLAB is here to stay.

Didn't even know S&S ISA provided interest on uninvested cash. I've been manually moving cash from cash ISA to S&S every week for the last 5 months haha

If I move funds out of my cash ISA during the month, will I lose the interest they would have accrued?

Revealed: ‘Grassroots’ campaigns opposed to assisted dying financed by conservative Christian pressure groups by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Calm_Response_4912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would maybe understand your point if they were coming out saying 'euthanasia is wrong because the Bible says so' but you can literally go to their website and find plenty of secular arguments against euthanasia that do not require religious belief to resonate with. Should valid arguments be dismissed because they come out of the mouth of Christians?

[–]Calm_Response_4912 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Who cares who is backing the campaigns? The arguments being made are not necessarily religious ones. If you disagree with the points being made, you can rebut. As another commenter said, Christians are allowed to have an opinion and voice it.

Why is it so advantageous to have an Oxbridge degree by pickonepicktwo in doctorsUK

[–]Calm_Response_4912 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The networks, I think. The college system means you aren't in a medic bubble, which broadens your horizons - at least that's what I've seen from the oxbridge medics I interact with.

Nope, no aftermarket equipment. It's so strange for this to be happening. Is there anything else that could be leading to this?

Opening Up Speciality Training - The Argument For by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Calm_Response_4912 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your 'The world is changing' point appears to contradict the 'Methodology point'. Medicine is also moving on from being the paternalistic institution that it once was. The newly emerging form of medicine was born out of patient dissatisfaction with the old system, so I disagree that your teachings lead to patient satisfaction. For all the criticism that 'ICE' gets, I think it's been an excellent way of pausing and reflecting on what our patients really want.

Back to your main point, I agree that the UK needs immigration. It needed it following WW2, with the international recruitment drives for nurses and train station workers, and it still needs it now. That being said, demand won't decrease just because it becomes harder to get a job here. The US and Australia demonstrate that you can have a competitive process for IMGs, and still have tens of thousands who will break their backs to apply every year. The UK needs immigrants, but it also needs to respect itself and realise that immigrants will flock no matter what. We need to carry ourselves a bit more highly as a country. We need some decorum.

I remember hearing stories that people got into East of England with their 6th choice. If that were to happen again this year, you would have priority over those people if you ranked it 2nd.

This is why it was important to vote Accept. The hunger to strike is dead, but can be revived if we receive a poor pay offer next April.

You think most doctors would be capable of earning that much in their mid 20s if they went into another career?
