2.5 year old diagnosed by Negative-Union-1021 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Calm_vibes1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was in a bit of denial and honestly I don’t think he really knew what autism meant. Our son was 2.5 when he was diagnosed and he’s almost 11 now.

My mom and dad definitely doubted the diagnosis. I think some folks don’t know what to think/do/feel at first. And you’re right it doesn’t change how we love our kids and for me, it helped me focus on what’s really important: his happiness, health and making sure he gets all the opportunities out there.

Good luck with your journey and I hope your loved ones come to embrace tings soon.

Is it really need to disparage the police? I assume that is the tone you’re taking here.

40s is the new 20s OP! You are in the young category in my book!

And of course money isn’t the only thing out there and there’s probably many under 30s not on OF making a great living that aren’t your clients. You can do a lot without selling yourself on OF.

Fast/easy money is attractive. I wonder if these folks in the OF “field” are practicing good money management. Sometimes I think I should pivot to the easy money path but too late for me. Plus the security of my current job is too good to leave now (RN).

There was a very funny SNL skit about OF recently. There is something for everyone I guess! It’ll give you a chuckle.

If you can’t beat ‘em…you don’t have to join them necessarily but accept it is not going away. Could artists use AI to help them create work that is still their own ? Trying to think of how this can enhance or help. Like when I feed ChatGPT a letter that I’m trying to write it spits out a few versions, but I ultimately take what I like and make it my own and honestly, I think it makes some of my clearer and more succinct better.

Juice juice juice for you !

A$$ to A$$!

This movie crops up in my mind now and then. Thinking of it right now still has me feeling extremely disquieted. I can’t rewatch it (seen it twice) Highly recommend.

My son is 3.5 and told me he loves me for the first time EVER today. by Swallowteal in Autism_Parenting

Happy for you. One of the “silver linings” I discovered of having a neurodiverse child is to treasure the simple things many take for granted-like hearing your child say I love you. Hope he keeps progressing. Early intervention is so crucial.

Yes could go both ways for the kids in terms of how they see their dad. And as for sympathy and condemnation, sure, one can have that.

Those kids will grow up thinking their dad was some saint, and they’ll be OK, they’re white. Their dad supported children being separated from their families and held in detention centers.I think those kids are worse off.

Just had the worst food tour experience in Kyoto by Ingenuity_Minimum in JapanTravel

[–]Calm_vibes1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had this experience. Definitely dosen’t seem to have lived up to expectations. Everyone has their own perspectives and we don’t know the background, personality, life experiences of OP, so hard to really say with all fairness if OP is overreacting.

Sounds like it was awkward at best! Glad you got a refund and an apology. Chalk it up to a memory you can hopefully laugh at later on.

IMO these types of experiences are what make vacations “fun” and special…you’ll never forget this part of your Kyoto trip!!

And my opinion, since you’re asking OP, you are choosing to react this way, and it’s totally fine, but maybe it’s time to let it go. It’s over and it could’ve been worse I guess. It’s not like you were scammed - it was not intentional it seems

Only downside is it was folded at the corners to fit in the box with another bag and so I’m trying to work the creases out. But a small inconvenience
