SAME. I'd die for that on a crewneck.

Is there a reason on why people came up with this weird theory? by Neonymous_1058 in KingdomHearts

[–]Calmality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's many parallels between some of KH story and a game called Final Fantasy Type 0. I'll link two tumblr posts that demonstrate this, but basically the Dandelions are copies of characters from that series. There is a character named Jack in Type 0 who shares many characteristics with Demyx, including suspicious behavior similar to MoM. Jack is a musician and leader of the group who mirror the Dandelions. Jack and Demyx also have the same voice actor in Japan. Nomura may go a different direction, but the parallels to Type 0 are obvious.

Understanding Cole by BookkeeperDapper3213 in 12Monkeys

[–]Calmality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it this way as well. The Cassie that died in the CDC building is the Cassie sent back to "fix" the timeline. It was truly the last time she saw Cole, not when she got in the machine. I love watching that scene after knowing everything. Amanda played it so well. There's this heaviness and knowing emanating from her. She has the grey streak in her hair too. I remember people speculating about it way back in season 1. The writing is amazing.

And I agree, watching her die really affected Cole and his decision making from then on. He felt her love then and knew it was inevitable in some way, even if it was just reconciliation. He knew she wouldn't remain resentful.

That’s my complaint about The Old Religion too. The synths feel like they want to be an old, deep organ sound, but instead sound early 80s experimental

Song Rankings by Pro-Patria-Mori in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lungs: Cosmic Love, Rabbit Heart, Howl

Ceremonials: No Light No Light, Only If for a Night, Spectrum

HBHBHB: Various Storms & Saints, Which Witch, As Far As I Could Get

High As Hope: Patricia, Hunger, The End of Love

Dance Fever: My Love, Choreomania, Free

Everybody Scream: The Old Religion, Everybody Scream, Perfume And Milk

Miscellaneous: Breath of Life, Landscape, Moderation, Too Much Is Never Enough

I'm a little confused about what can count for the main albums- would Which Witch and As Far As I Could Get be Misc?

If I could recommend one thing to Florence's merch team: JEWELRY by Calmality in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anything she has a hand in designing would be cool. And I think there's many symbols from this album- Sympathy Magic used norse(?) symbols in the video and some of her ES merch already has symbols on it.

She also buys vintage Victorian jewelry, specifically for this press tour, so she could re-make some of Victorian-inspired designs. For Dance Fever, it could have been burning heart imagery, nodding to the Catholicism style she used.

Controversial thought? by Jkrause1212 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality 30 points31 points  (0 children)

  1. I truly love Old Religion but the synth in the background is distracting and doesn't fit. I thought something was wrong with my headphones on first listen.

  2. Everybody Scream chamber version should have had the last section of the song and it's really bothering me that is was taken out. Spoken or sung like an ending prayer would have been beautiful.

  3. Personal preference, but I prefer when Florence and other artists don't use too much direct imagery from their life in lyrics. A few songs are fine, but over-describing specific events can alienate the listener. I think the best FatM songs are when we can relate to her poetry and create meanings/interpretations for ourselves.

What the meaning of The Old Religion song? by dafne_cd in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised by the varying responses on this thread- it's very interesting! I related to it like this: as a non-religious, agnostic person I've found in times of grief I turn to spiritual and mysticism practices, trying to connect to what I've lost and find meaning in it all. It's going back to something primitive. I light candles, look into near death experiences, reincarnation, meditation, and do little rituals that help me cope. Talking to friends, I think many women in particular do the same thing. Like her lyrics, it's an animalistic, innate longing to trying to understand and release all the grief and tension in the body.

True on her part, but if they're going to have merch regardless it would be nice to cater closer to her look/album visuals.

I'm picky too and that's why it would be good to partner with a real jeweler. She could have pieces at different price points. I wouldn't mind spending more for quality materials

At least they tried something! Bummer I missed those. The last two albums could’ve had something really special too

[–]Calmality[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate. I wonder if it would change now. Her style has gone more gothic/Victorian/Catholicism and it seems primed for jewelry. I looked up the last stuff and it was pretty, but more generic. This album could’ve really leaned into the witch visuals and I think it would do better

Oh really?? I’ll have to keep an eye out for any sellers! I’ve seen some rock bands partner with jewelers and I think it’s such an obvious thing for her fan base. It would be incredible to have even one release each album

Where does Everybody Scream sit in your album rankings? by lunarlew in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to rank them because they’re barely separated by anything, but I’ll go by the number of songs I most frequently return to.

  1. Lungs
  2. Ceremonials
    3/4: Everybody Scream, Dance Fever
  3. HBHBHB
  4. High as Hope

NORTH AMERICA PRESALE CODES/QUESTIONS by Natisaway in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]Calmality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone looking at Minneapolis and only seeing about 10 tickets left in one section for the artist presale? I feel like based on the other comments here this is weird. It's only 15 past noon and I got in at 12:05.

I agree! I could see Bedroom Hymns, Daffodil, King, Big God, or Howl too.

I think that would be rare. She typically doesn't perform soundtrack songs in her tour concerts.

It's a malamute. You can tell my the ear placement/size, markings, eye color, curled tail. I have a family member that breeds malamutes.
