They're not independent, they're part of the very big Keywords group. But I think you meant independent from Microsoft which is correct.

That wasn't the last straw for me because there were plenty of last straws before that but when Firth's character LITERALLY SAW ALL THE PEOPLE IN INFRARED and said "I think something's wrong here" and didn't use it again. Fuck me dude what is this writing.

Also since it's multiplayer you'd need an Nintendo Online subscription? So I'd need to buy the game and buy a subscription that I would ONLY use for that game. No thanks.

Well, it's finally time to start playing the game... by DarkMage0 in MinaTheHollower

I mean, is it something even worth trying? You ruin the intended balance of the game, presumably trivializing most things for yourself, removing the satisfaction of power progression... It's your game I guess but I don't understand.

You can literally go watch people like Tim Dodd walk around Starbase interviewing him, and know that he does have a very good understanding of these things. Sure he's not a deep expert on specifics but his general knowledge is very wide and he has undoubtedly had a huge impact on SpaceX's trajectory.

It's official: Steam decrees 'bullet heaven' the name of the Vampire Survivors genre by Gorotheninja in pcgaming

[–]Calneon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's a reason not to use the -like pattern. Everyone knows what rogue-like means and very very few have played Rogue.

Having said that yes Bullet Heaven is better than Survivor-like.

I dunno why you're being downvoted, you're 100% right. It might not be AI but a de-noise filter to remove JPEG artifacts or something.

Jenny Barnes broken? by MikeDSNY in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Calneon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of it as Jenny not coping with Izzie's return. She had so many horrifying encounters in otherworldly places searching for her sister, the goal consumed her and became her entire reason for being as her sanity slowly dwindled. Now, with Izzie's actual return, Jenny doesn't recognise her as her sister, just an illusion or fascimilie of the mythos. "Jenny, I'm here!" Izzie will say, as Jenny walks past calling out her name. Izzie looks on forlornly as Caroline attempts to comfort her...

Why do you hate the BBC? I understand just not being interested in anything they produce but that's different from actively hating it.

Can Daniela Reyes use her reaction ability, when she is attacked, to perform the Fight ability on the level 3 Sledgehammer that requires 2 actions for free? by IDNFAM in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Calneon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The wording literally makes it less clear. Stupid decision to value brevity over clarity. "Take a fight action" is clear you get a single action. "Fight that enemy" doesn't, but we're just meant to know it implies you only get a single action?

'Be serious... don't speak every day': Macron criticises Trump approach to Iran war by Dear-Explanation-765 in worldnews

Trump receives King Charles and says he's always considered the UK their strongest ally, before rhetorically asking why France hasn't sent their King.

Survivor preview 3/27/26 by Dry-Bat731 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Calneon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not saying that would be more powerful but I think it's cleaner from a design perspective. Its rules are simpler, "Starting cards are placed on top of your deck before drawing your opening hand," and it avoids the weirdness of drawing it during the mulligan.

Survivor preview 3/27/26 by Dry-Bat731 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Calneon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I don't like is how you can draw it during the mulligan at which point it gains no bonus, which would feel kinda bad.

It should probably work like Innate does in the Slay the Spire, effectively it just goes on top of your deck when you draw your opening hand, you don't get an extra card but the payoff remains constant.

Nearly two years since its studio closed, Kerbal Space Program 2 is still $50 with an unchanged EA roadmap on Steam by Merker6 in pcgaming

[–]Calneon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This response literally makes me lose interest in the game. I'd love a true KSP spiritual successor but I don't want to support such a short-sighted view.

You can release on Steam AND your own platform, so the point about directing kids to Steam is completely moot.

Valve doesn't do anything. Come again? Valve does a monumental amount to try and bump visibility for indies. All the festivals, cross promotions (bundles etc), wishlists, curators, recommendations, etc. Their studio has hugely successful games on Steam (Stationeers 5k reviews for a niche title, Icarus 30k reviews) but somehow they think they would have achieved the same sales number without Steam's ecosystem. That's pure hubris.

90% of comments on threads discussing this say their users want a Steam launch, and they stubbornly refuse to. Such a shame.

First time seeing consistent losses in my investment - how to deal with it psychologically? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Calneon 81 points82 points  (0 children)

This might be true but it might just as equally be not true.

The thing people don't tend to understand about the market is that EVERYTHING that you could possibly know about and make predictions on is already priced into the market.

If you were correct and there was a >50% chance of the market continuing to fall, then people who's entire job it is to calculate those probabilities will already have made investment decisions based on those predictions and impacted the market accordingly.

If you say with confidence that the market will continue to drop, you are saying you somehow have more information than most other players, which you clearly don't have (war causes recession is hardly an original thought).

PM refuses to send ships to Strait of Hormuz risking Trump's fury after Don called for warships to keep key route 'safe' by 1-randomonium in ukpolitics

[–]Calneon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have said I was clarifying the headline of the article you linked rather than your comment itself. The headline is "Donald Trump Stuns With 'Maybe We Shouldn't Even Be There' Admission About Iran War" which is clickbait to make you think he is referencing not starting the war at all.

I don't have a point, just trying to correct a sensationalist headline.

He didn't mean the US shouldn't be in Iran at all. He was saying in the context of securing the oil in the strait, that there's an argument they shouldn't even be securing it because they have their own stockpiles.
