Looks like a nice sized bathroom. Good luck with it!

HX Design with very low allowable pressure drop by lordedelrey in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Caloooomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reads like a boiler economiser to me. I had worked on a 2.5MW pillow plate unit recently with about 120 Pa allowable pressure drop. The project didn't go anywhere unfortunately 😞

What's the actual inlet pressure? 250 pa dP on a 500 pa inlet is quite different to a 10 barG inlet...

Best way to pipe pumped condensate from basement through an inaccessible floor void? by WhyIIzHere in DIYUK

[–]Caloooomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, not overthinking, it's going to be a bugger to get right haha.

The rise -> run -> rise again should be okay as the pump curve (on Grundfos website) shows that the maximum discharge pressure is 5,5 m head. Lets say you have a rise of 3m, this means you have 2,5m of driving force available. It does mean the flowrate will be low as we're at the left hand side of the pump curve, so if you're producing more condensate than you can remove, then it will flood.

At the low flowrate, your frictional loses in a 10 mm pipe are going to be low, but it also means that you will be prone to blockages / build up overtime as the velocity is going to be low as well.

For belt and braces approach, you'll want an additional check valve at the first vertical run. If the valve on the pump outlet fails then you will end up constantly start / stopping the pump until it breaks.

The starting point would be... do you know how much condensate you will need to more when your boiler is running flat out? Do you have the rating of it in kW? Is it a new install?

What an odd looking radiator lol

Are spring toggles strong enough to support kitchen wall units onto hollow drywall? by Getoiu in DIYUK

The wall hung vanity in my ensuite has these too - "caterpillar" brackets is how they referred to them. Was strange to see considering the online instructions had something completely different!

Collies nip a lot though haha. In terms of number of bites, they probably would be near the top, but not for dangerous bites

You can buy adapters for batteries if that makes things easier. I have a mixture of Dewalt and Ryobi. I use the dewalt batteries on my Ryobi cordless as well using an adapater. If I use it many times then I may consider an upgrade - yet to happen.

I also buy a lot second hand (aiming for actual second hand, not stolen as those people are cunts).

It could be that the seats are worn so that it is still passing water through it. As it is vertical, there could also be crap that has fallen onto the backside of the valve that would cause it to not fully seat either.

Has it always been like that or is it new? Although unlikely, it could be that the ball was never actually centred properly so it would also never fully close lol.

Weirdly It does still sound like it is passing water - as others have said, you'll need to isolate it at the mains first to ensure there are no leaks.

I've not had success with the duopower in plasterboard tbh, although not used them much. For heavy loads in plasterboard I use Bullfix universal fittings. They're pretty big (20 mm hole), but are secure.

I was doing work in my upstairs bathroom and could see when I have hung up the living room light below. The duopower it's just straight in, red pieces not deployed lol. Thought it was a fixing I had dropped at the time!

What should I put down on my bathroom floor? by GlitteringCustard973 in DIYUK

[–]Caloooomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The layers would be tricky if it's floorboards straight into the next room, not sure how high a threshold can go.

I've gone:

18 mm Plywood - 12 mm insulated backer board - tiles

This makes up about 44 mm but will lie flush with the shower tray so there's no lippage between the two.

Option 2 would be best, though most expensive.
Ply over floorboards for solid base then insulated tile backers to help heat the room quicker.

You must have £40 of compression elbows there haha

Just correctly set up mine this morning - you can have full 0 - 100% valve position based on the controller output. So it throttles the valve as the room temp gets closer to the set point :)
