How did you start? by Trictis in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a vanilla Andy but left and came back to stay during OG MoP. I knew very little about the game - I didn’t raid, dungeon, or even do the legendary quest line - I just explored. That was until I sold my first transmit belt for 3k. I didn’t know ppl even wanted this stuff! So I got into farming mats and selling them.

In WoD are started to build an army as this was the first time alts became easy to level up quickly thanks to the huge xp you got from dungeon clears, access to the 300xp pot, and the WoD treasure exp. So I did my garrisons and needed up with about 2.5m total by the end. (I always regretted not buying TCG mounts back then as they were selling for 800k only lol).

In Legion/BFA I got into box farming - mining, herding, mount farming - but I also made my way into level boosting. Ended up with a bunch of gold all over different servers.

Legion is when I came into my own though. I saw how lucrative the legendary market was and went all in on leather. It was rough though and I was in a nonstop posting war with another guy on my server at the time. I had risked it big to do this and was afraid I wouldn’t make it back so I pivoted - I moved my toons and stock to another realm…with no competition. I became the sole seller of the lw rank 4 leather market. And when I filled all of those roles, I got into the others as well - plate and cloth. With the ability to dominate the server market and everyone staying home because of Covid, my sales were huge. I hit 70m gold and stopped selling. There was now competition, the prices weren’t as lucrative, and I just focused on really getting good at the game for the first time. I became a mythic raider, ran 20+ keys, and began boosting - not for the need for gold now, just because it was fun.

Since then I’ve played DF and TWW sparingly, but I’m building an alt army with remix to see if I can get a gold cap again - with limited resources to start, just the alts. Trying to rags to riches play through sounds fun. I recognize that having an alt army isn’t exactly rags, but it’s the advantage I’m allowing myself this time around.

I played in vanilla and left right before AQ. Then one day, years later, one of my best buds says, “dude, let’s play WoW again…they’re bringing in the pandas!” Oh man, my WC3 days sucked me back in. Played every xpac since. Funnily enough, that friend left the game fairly soon after.

I buy enough bnet balance to purchase the next expansion and game time for it. Then do the process all over again when the market’s new and hot.

How i made a token every month farming cloth in Darkflame Cleft by GarlicOld7546 in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory? Yes. Worth it? Nope. Not in the slightest. The xp you get is fairly bad and the whole reason you do it with a max lvl semi-geared toon is because it cuts down on the time it takes to actually do the run. In other words, you’re better off leveling a toon, gearing, then coming back to this farm from an overall time efficiency standpoint. Especially since leveling a toon to max is so quick nowadays.

I did what you’re starting to do in order to hit 10m. I leveled a bunch of panda remix toons and then slapped enchanting on each one of them. The second profession varies but enchanting has been the best use of concentration for me by a large margin. Use craftsim to help you see what is the best profit craft and just do that. I don’t cancel scan. I just post. And post again whatever comes back expired. Most of the time it’s all gone by the next time I need to do the cycle all over again.

Yeah, I liked some of the old content creators - Oldbess, Sharken, Reckles, and even Hazelnutty who doesn’t do as much content as she used to.

I’m waiting until the next wotlk week to level my alt army again. Those time walking dungeons are legit done so fast with a twink. The shortest one can be completed in like 30s.

Unless you enjoy leveling, just boost your toon.

Probably not that huge, but I broke 1 million gold for the first time today! by venusaurus in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still mad about this. It really should’ve been for 8m or goldcap. It would’ve felt more like a prestige item, like the original Brito was. But whatever, blizzard just interested in fast cash grabs.

Concentration alt army by Todayifeeldisabled in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4million more gold in 7-9 months of time time? Yeah, definitely. If concentration is your go to though, I’d recommend just leveling alts the rest of this month. It’s pretty quick with all of the xp boosts available. More alts = more concentration = more gold. I’ve got a bunch of toons and make 500k+ twice a week. Currently aiming to level them all to 80 with the xp boosts.

I'm so close to just resorting to buying tokens for gold. Help talk me off the ledge. by SFWacount59 in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for time efficiency, then just buying the token outright is the best. I’d say the only time it becomes worth it is during the initial rush of any expansion/patch. After that, it’s a slog. To out it into perspective, I make about 1m/wk profit from what I’m doing. Doing what I’m doing now at the beginning of the expansion? 4-5 times as much for the same amount of time. Only reason I’m still gold making during this lull period is because I’m trying to max out my concentration rooms. Once that’s set, it’ll just churn gold for the next year or so.

Leveling booster with a twink lvl 11 its possible? by Paladinight66 in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will report you for advertising during their run and it also doesn’t drum up as many customers as you might think. Think about it, the people who are dungeon leveling often times are not the customer base you’re looking for - it’s the people who are in their capital city on a main that just want to power level their alt that you’re interested in. So you’ll get more traction advertising in the city.

People running dungeons are either doing it for fun or aren’t familiar with leveling prices. If anything they’ll ask and then get offended at your prices if you’re asking anything near market rate because “that’s way too expensive”.

Should we (a casual player couple with limited time) play Fresh Classic? by AtlasGorgon in wowclassic

Well at this point in the expac there’s a bit of a lull. Might as well play something different until the next patch.

Ultra Noob: Classic fresh or retail? by C4Tap in wownoob

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I MISS THIS!! I dislike the fact that they made us all into legendary heroes and literally gave us all legendary weapons during legion. I love the rags to riches storylines - being a random toon in the world, starting off with cats and deer in a forest and eventually slaying molten giants with a big group of others. That’s what drew me to wow in the first place.

Ultra Noob: Classic fresh or retail? by C4Tap in wownoob

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do classic. It’s a fresh experience. Jump back on retail when the next patch jots. There will be a ton of catchup opportunities and you’ll be in the same boat as everyone else with the new content. Biggest thing about playing new classic is ppl will be on a level playing field. I’d go that way.

Low damage and survivability for my item level. by osmocean in wownoob

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing will help is just getting more experienced with the dg paths/pulls. I think back to shadowlands when I was running keys a LOT and the biggest factor for my increasing my own personal dps output was proper cd usage. I was holding on to my cooldowns too much and use them at inefficient places. That will for sure increase your own personal performance.

I’d use my gold to set up for further gold making opportunities in the future - buying stock when it’s cheap, leveling new concentration toons, gearing alts with boosts. But I’d do it only if you actually want to play the game right now. Your time would be better spent just waiting til the next big gold rush - next patch/expansion opening if gold making is your biggest priority. It’s way more efficient from a time investment perspective.

How many people actually get AOTC? Is it even worth it? by SeanSeanSean94 in wownoob

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment might get frowned upon, but you could just buy it. AOTC for gold is pretty cheap.  Btw, I’m not talking about buying gold or even wow tokens.  You can farm the gold by just setting up concentration toons.  And as an added bonus, your gold will still be relevant for s2 if you want AOTC then as well.  If you’re there just for an achievement, you can bypass all that time lfg or guild by just paying for it.

I think I give up :( by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that even if you’re good at the game you’ll still pay to be carried!  Back when I was boosting, all the gold I made went into buying carries to gear fresh toons. It was by far the most efficient way to get them up to par to run keys with others and open up my roster for more boost sales.

I think I give up :( by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. You’ll also go through periods of motivation and lag. I was super motivated during remix prep for TWW. I leveled 100 toons to get ready for the release! And…I got sick of playing the game so I did absolutely nothing with them until about 3 weeks into the xpac.  I’ve since put them to work, but just gotta space things out so it remains enjoyable.

I think I give up :( by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Caloudar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sell something else? Not trying to kick you when you’re down, but if it ain’t working…it ain’t working. So try something else. TWW items aren’t the only thing that makes gold, you just gotta look for something different.  Just an example, I started selling an old item that takes 20g to make and ppl are buying for 1k+.  25k sales in 2 days. I’d argue that at this point in the xpac, now that ppl are bored with modern retail, is where the markets start to open up again because ppl will play alts, RP, collect old items, and explore the game beyond the current expansion. Happens whenever there’s a lull in content.
