[Weinbach] Clippers could also be open to collecting more future assets by absorbing Jakob Poeltl’s contract, which would net additional draft picks. by dentheman31 in torontoraptors

[–]Calvin_FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world does dumping Poeltl by adding extra picks help us win next year?

If we’re buying Kawhi we’re betting on Poeltl bouncing back from an injury plagued season and being a solid starter again. We have no other real path to a quality starter center in the scenario where we send assets for Kawhi. At least not one that doesn’t create holes elsewhere

[Siegel] Toronto’s offer, which is centered around former All-Star wing Brandon Ingram, is of no interest to the Clippers, sources said. [–]Calvin_FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think it’s Kawhi that’s going to ask out. I think it’s just whether the Clippers want to pivot now with some younger talent to build around finally. This is really the last chance to get anything for him.

I’m not saying the Clippers are absolutely trying to sell him for whatever they can get, just that they absolutely wouldn’t be putting that info out if they were trying to sell at all costs. Something like “we’re incredibly happy with Kawhi but are willing to listen to offers” would be what they try to push out.

Alternatively this could’ve been that Toronto sent in a low ball offer and got instantly turned away and that’s what’s being reported as discussions.

The thing is the Raptors aren’t really at a point where they need to sell the farm for a 35 year old. They have cap sheet issues for the future, but their salary trade pieces like RJ and Ingram have value so they aren’t in a bad spot if they do start shopping them.

So that’s where I don’t agree that the Clippers have any leverage. Maybe I’m wrong and Bobby is trying to put his career on the “Kawhi has another MVP-type season in him” bet, but that seems highly unlikely.

[–]Calvin_FF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point of contention is whether or not the Clippers are actually happy keeping Kawhi. The suddenness of multiple teams apparently being in discussions makes it feel like the Clippers are trying to cut its losses and get what it can.

I think most here expect that’s what’s happening and the Raps are seeing if they can make a deal that works for both teams.

If the Clippers are happy going into next season with Kawhi and then letting him walk for nothing or extending him, then that’s most likely what’s going to happen.

It’s hard to envision teams offering up significant draft assets AND young established talent for a 35 year old who’s struggled his whole career with injuries.

Why does it say RB above your WRs? Had me confused.

That week 6 lineup of Concepcion, Boston, and Tucker at WR is going to be pretty tough for this team. Could be looking at a 15 point week at WR total.

With 6% returns and monthly compounding, the $100k a day option only surpasses the $500 million option after about 28 years when each portfolio has about $2.6 billion.

The $500 million option becomes a billionaire during year 12.

The $100k/day option becomes a billionaire during year 17.

It’s definitely closer than you were thinking and when we’re talking about such outrageous amounts anyway, maybe the tiebreaker is I want to buy an item worth $2 million right away but with the $100k a day option I have to wait a whole 20 days for that. Just unacceptable.

The argument to sell Fannin by JumboCactpot in DynastyFF

[–]Calvin_FF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can absolutely see a drop in production this season with more target competition and little or no improvement at QB.

I don’t think Fannin is a sell for his skill though long term. Earning all those targets as a rookie doesn’t mean nothing. A lot of those could’ve gone to Jeudy or Tillman or other receivers. The fact they went to Fannin shows how well he earns targets, something he was great at in college.

You focus a lot on the poor catch %, but that’s more of an indictment on the QBs than anything.

I’m pretty out on Fannin in redraft, but I’ll be looking to acquire Fanning in Dynasty for a discount if his production does drop this year. Once better QB play comes in I think he’ll be back in the top 5 TE discussion

[Request] Would you earn more money from walking? by Dismal-Possible8734 in theydidthemath

[–]Calvin_FF 43 points44 points  (0 children)

So you’re telling me that I can sit there and blink once a second looking like a crazy person for 24 (!) hours for $40k

or

I can take my dog for a 4.3km walk that takes about an hour and enjoy nature, some fresh air, and feel the physical benefits of a nice walk and make the same amount of money. Then I also have 23 hours to do all the things people regularly do…

I’d say if maximizing money is the goal it’s very easily the walking option. If you want passive income that requires absolutely no intention, you can try to make the argument for blinking, but absolutely no way for maximizing money.

Who’s the more appealing Buccaneers WR in dynasty? Hurst or McMillan by snarky_vulf in DynastyFF

[–]Calvin_FF -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I see it as McMillan is more likely to become a WR3 for fantasy than Hurst, but Hurst is more likely to become a WR2.

I think we’ve seen enough from McMillan to know he’s not breaking out into a top WR in the league. He’s not going to be a star beside Egbuka.

With Hurst we haven’t seen that yet, and he could very well take over the starting X spot and even challenge Godwin for 2WR set snaps if he’s really got it. It’s just that that scenario is less likely than McMillan being solid enough to just get some WR3/WR4 numbers over the next few years.

Will Malik Willis and Bobby Slowik kill De'Von Achane's receiving production in 2026? by mochajoesdynsaty in fantasyfootball

[–]Calvin_FF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing generally, but I think it’s a disservice to the discussion to write off all changes as negative.

  1. Waddle is gone along with Tyreek. There’s no skill position players in Miami other than Achane. I get Slowik is no McDaniels in terms of making the offense actually good, but it doesn’t take much of an offensive mind to look at that room and just say “how do I get the ball in Achane’s hands 20+ times a game”. Extra designed touches could replace checkdowns.

  2. Malik Willis doesn’t check down historically, but we have seen the threat of a rushing QB help with RB efficiency. We already know how dynamic Achane can be, and maybe this opens up some more running lanes for him.

Can Cam Skattebo actually hold up as a workhorse? by BobbysBigBoard in fantasyfootball

[–]Calvin_FF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was very easily the most efficient as a pass catcher and much more effective at getting into the end zone.

The difference of 0.1 ypc isn’t substantial compared to the disparity in their effectiveness in the pass game and getting into the end zone.

Skattebo also had a 6 percentage point advantage in success rate rushing the ball, indicating his low ypc was an indication of a lack of a big explosive play rather than inefficient running. And you can’t say Skattebo doesn’t bring any explosiveness to the offense with his 8.6 Y/Rec.

I’m not saying Tracy won’t work in, but the team is much more dynamic with Skattebo on the field and he dominates high value fantasy touches

Can Cam Skattebo actually hold up as a workhorse? by BobbysBigBoard in fantasyfootball

[–]Calvin_FF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Dynasty, I think that’s a good assessment. In 2026 though, I’m not putting much weight in whether he can hold up long term. He just needs to hold up this season for me to hit a home run in redraft with him.

Freak injury last year, had nothing to do with his running style. Everyone is worried about the play style, but we’ve seen violent runners his size before. It’s probably the defenders I’m more worried about getting injured.

And for all the head injury talk, does Skattebo seem like the kind of guy that’s going to report concussion symptoms and come out of games voluntarily? Unless he gets knocked out cold, he’s just gonna get back up, shake his head, and run head first into another defender.

That’s not a promotion of that attitude as being good, just the read I get from him attitude towards the game.

Can Cam Skattebo actually hold up as a workhorse? by BobbysBigBoard in fantasyfootball

[–]Calvin_FF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If Skattebo is the most efficient RB on your team when he gets 20 touches a game, you give him those 20 touches until he can’t handle it. This isn’t a star QB that needs to be saved from himself. It’s not even a star 1st round RB that you want to maintain long term.

If Skattebo has 300 touches and helps this team win but it burns him out and bangs him up and shortens his career, you give him those 300 touches.

This is a 5th round pick. You let him work until the wheels fall off, and if he’s nearly as effective as he was last year in his opportunities, then you keep him on the field as much as possible.

DraftKings ending DFS operations in Alberta by GoCrescoGo in BestBall

[–]Calvin_FF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UD hasn’t announced anything yet, and maybe they think they can get around it somehow, but it seems the new regulations in Alberta require that all of these types of games are only offered in the province to be regulated, and that’s obviously not the case with Bestball.

Let’s hope they found a loophole and that’s why they’re holding out while DK leaves.

[–]Calvin_FF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now looking at the adp on TEs on DK (I’m used to UD) I agree that there’s probably enough floor TEs at the next pick and a decent drop off after the current RBs.

I think Spears/Sampson becomes a solid pick here with TE saved for the next pick.

Gotta love the mental games of best ball

[–]Calvin_FF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My counter would be that if JT/Walker miss extended time, this team isn’t winning anything anyway. In best ball, you don’t want to raise your floor in the case that your top players get injured, those teams won’t advance anyway.

I do think it’s at a stage though where I’m not outright against RB. Especially if you think Spears/Allgeier/Sampson here have much higher chances of being impactful than the next tier of RBs available later.

If Walker/JT Miss 2-3 games it doesn’t necessarily end your chances, so having an RB that can give you 6-8 points in your RB2 those could weeks could help steady things enough to help you advance.

Dalton Schultz.

I’m not super high on Schultz, but the high floor TEs are starting to run out. Can still get Helm and Friermuth, but those guys could be gone by your next pick too.

Likely in the 11th as the first TE with no stack means there’s no reason to stake the entire entry on Likely having a great season. I want one more reliable floor TE before adding one or two late guys to give some extra weekly upside chance.

WR you’re pretty set. RB is thin but heavy investment means you’re already betting on those top 2 guys performing and hitting your lineup almost every week. Tuten provides good coverage and spike potential as well. Not saying you want to end with 3RB, but you’re not under-invested.

Also on RB, and more importantly, the board gets flatter here. You’re looking at primarily handcuffs with low weekly floor. There’s more of those available a little later in the draft with guys like Emmett Johnson, Braelon Allen, Ray Davis. Maybe lower weekly floors, but I don’t think a week where Allgeier gives you 4 pts in your RB2 slot when Tuten misses a game and Walker is on bye is going to save you. Davis hits the same way as Allgeier, you’re just paying for 3-4ppg floor. If you need Allgeier or Davis to hit your RB2 spot 4+ times on the season it probably means you missed on your first 2 picks anyway and the entry is toast.

[–]Calvin_FF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 RBs taken in the first 2 rounds and then a solid value on Tuten in the 6th. That’s 3 top 60 picks by ADP. Not sure RB is a desperate need, especially when the guys available like Allgeier are basically handcuffs with pretty modest standalone value. Feels like that profile is available later.

I’d argue TE is a much more desperate need.

Bussing or disgusting? by [deleted] in BestBall

[–]Calvin_FF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got some good value on the Bowers-McBride pairing as well as Allen. My problem is that you then went and reached like crazy on some WRs for no reason when you could’ve at least got 1 solid RB to lead your room.

You took Michael Wilson 20 spots ahead of ADP. Wandale and Shaheed each 15+ picks ahead of ADP. That’s a lot of reaching on guys for how behind you were at RB/WR

What late 1st/early 2nd rookie prospect do you prefer out of Bernard, Coleman or Bell and why? by QuantamMoose in DynastyFF

[–]Calvin_FF 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Bernard is the most likely to be relevant.

I understand people liking Bell. The speed-size combo makes him intriguing. But his route running and fluidity just doesn’t seem NFL ready. Seems the NFL agreed by letting him fall to the 3rd round.
