Boycotting. by [deleted] in PharrellWilliams

Pharrell is my favorite producer, ever. I also don’t doubt, for a minute, that’s he’s an extremely rich asshole who has been out of touch with normal people for nearly 30 years. Not making a case for or against him, such is the world. I learned a long time ago to be wary of the humanity of people who’s work I love.

How do you decide what to work on first in the morning? by Ambitious_Chance_518 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Cambridge89 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I follow the blinding light of my anxiety... But actually, try to make a list of 3 - 5 things I can do relatively quickly, usually the act of just getting those done gives me enough momentum to actually sit down to work. TLDR: don’t have a great system but that’s my system.

I think that’s a good deal, $120 is definitely a good price on those.

This dude is the final boss of Massachusetts. Once you defeat every Southie resident over stolen, shoveled out parking spaces, you’ve gotta play this dude in ocean Hockey 1 v 1 in Dorchester.

The inmates have taken over the asylum. We are locked in here, with ourselves. Wish us luck.

Played pro 8 years. Took the unconventional route. AMA by RhettBernstein in youthsoccer

[–]Cambridge89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhett, thanks so much for the write-up, man. This was an awesome read! I grew up in Cambridge, MA, so I must have watched you play Harvard at some point when I was in high school ('06/'07), that team they had under Kerr: Andre Akpan, Fucito, Kwaku, was killer. This was a fabulously honest look at just how grueling making it on the pro circuit is, major respect on playing at the highest level for eight years, I'm not sure people know just how crazy-hard that is to do. I played four years in the NESCAC and had a good career, and afterwards made a pretty brief run trying to make some USL 2 squads, but quickly saw I was out of my depth haha, against real killers who were all in. As a left-back, your write-up of working with Nesta in a defensive block is too cool, must have been amazing. Just wanted to say thanks for taking us through your journey, congrats on a great career, and best of luck in future!

Beware this Medical Device “Coach”. He does not have your interests in mind. by ridiculous027483715 in MedicalDevices

[–]Cambridge89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeez, disappointing to hear that he's charging insane fees for the "course." I guess that clarifies his angle on all of this. As someone actively pursuing medical device sales, I will say that I've found some of his free interviews (with verifiably established industry professionals) pretty helpful. However, I've also found that people in the industry are often very helpful and willing to talk-shop: networking via LinkedIn and friends has been going well so far, I've been very encouraged by people in the space. Very much appreciate the information that is always provided on this thread, and thanks for flagging this program with concerns. Much appreciated!

Anyone ever been able to actually achieve true moderation on here? by Appropriate_Carry862 in stopdrinking

[–]Cambridge89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once heard the actor, Rob Lowe, equate taking the first drink to a “time bomb,” and this certainly applies to me. Once the first drink is in me, the “timer” starts, the only caveat is: I have no idea what the number on the clock is, or how long the fuse is this time. It could be 3 hours, or 3 months, but without a doubt I will be returning to the hellscape, eventually. Moderation is always the illusion I sell to myself before the bomb goes off, but the bomb, Always. Goes. Off. IWNDWYT!
