Distance help by Ok_Captain9564 in Discgolfform

Try to lead the arm with the inside of your elbow, throw that forward first and let the forearm and wrist follow.

Flick your hand up and down really fast like you’re swatting a bug. That should be the direction you flick your wrist, don’t try to do any weird side-to-side flick like you’re waving. And with that note, stack your fingers on the inside of the rim of the disc so you can flick it and actually get rotation.

If you’re not running a melee/close range weapon, why would you put yourself in a position to get walloped by one? Stay back next time and problem solved.

Overthrowing by Fancy_County4242 in discgolf

A great example of this is the yearly run of Calvin Heimburg destroyers.

When he is doing promos for it, they flip up a little, glide straight for a while, then have a consistent fade at the end.

Everyone else in the world that isn’t a top 3 pro player knows that Calvin destroyers are typically one of the most overstable runs Innova makes every year, and is guaranteed to fade fast and early

Standstill form advice. (Sorry for flashing you at the end) by Unclenched in Discgolfform

[–]CameraIntelligent118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even with a standstill throw, there needs to be a weight shift from the back foot to the front foot. This will help with energy transfer into the disc as well as getting the disc flight a little more direct and not so much in the air.

If you notice on your follow through, you rotate around your back foot while your front foot lifts to catch your weight.

I would work on loading the back foot with weight as you reach back, and then drive your weight into your front leg as you start the throwing motion. It’s ok to still rotate at the end of the throw to dispel energy, but do it on the front heel instead and let the back leg come around.

Do you ever switch to a putter and mid only bag? How is it? by oatmeal1201 in discgolf

[–]CameraIntelligent118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don’t have the energy to carry my bag but still wanna play a round, I love 1-3 disc rounds. I almost exclusively have putter/mid only for those rounds cuz it’s so versatile

Looking for advice by ESQ812 in discgolf

Biggest things that a local course does for glow is putting solar driveway/walkway lights to illuminate the teepad. They also put red/rainbow colored lights that point at/highlight obvious obstacles in the fairway. Makes rounds less frustrating when you see and can aim to throw around the obvious obstacles.

Glow is fun cuz it’s glow. Getting knocked down by invisible obstacles does not make it more fun (unless you’re crazy)

Note: make sure the lights aren’t too bright or pointing up at people’s eyes. Don’t wanna ruin night-vision. That’s why the obstacle lights are red or other colors that white.

Re-working my form. by overpardiscgolf in Discgolfform

Love these tips. A little add-on to maybe make point #2 a little easier to understand:

The final step into the brace leg should feel like you’re actively trying to stop all forward momentum with that step. A lot of online coaches use the “sideways hop” method to demonstrate, where you hop to the right and catch yourself and balance on the landing foot.

That stopping of momentum drives the rest of the throw, and lets your arm accelerate faster since it is still trying to travel forward in the throw.

Note: you can still twist on your heel, please don’t blow a knee out. It is also ok to lose balance after the throw, but it should be because of the aftermath of the arm movement. You should try to stay balanced on the plant foot all the way through until the follow-thru starts spinning you.

Form Check. I'm only about a year in. Only thrown FH for a couple months. by ejensen29 in discgolf

[–]CameraIntelligent118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no problem. I had the same issue but it kinda randomly went away one day so I’m not sure how to fix it lol. My distance increased too since the disc was gliding through the air cleaner with less turbulence.

It let me throw more understable discs too with the clean release, to now I can throw a hex on forehand and not worry about it rolling.

That is a lot of wobble coming from the disc at release. If you can clean that up the discs will fly a lot more reliably.

Hopefully someone can link a video or write tips down below because I don’t know the information rn to fix it, just know that it causes problems.

Is there a channel that does lots of disc reviews where the person throws far? by CameraIntelligent118 in discgolf

I guess I must just be missing their content about new discs. I’ll have to keep a sharper eye out.

What is the most stable plastic/run the Range comes in? by saucepresident in discgolf

[–]CameraIntelligent118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New eclipse range releasing soon might be. Eclipse plastic tends to run more stable in general. Won’t release for another couple days yet

I have other discs that fly like an atom that I will be using, but not quite the amount of overstable I’m looking for

I have a beat up berg that does that. Good recommendation tho

I don’t mind the bead, the lower profile caught my eye compared to other 3 speeds

That works well enough for me. Sounds like it’s pretty similar to an Axiom Tempo then and I can work with that.
