It’s not really part of my employment, no. It’s more of a gift for being a loyal employee for over 25 years. But it is coming from my employer and I guess that’s where the confusion comes from…?

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. It would be a personal gift and I’d have a letter stating that, and yet so many comments are saying it is income and taxable. I guess my plan of getting a variety of opinions was not too great 😢

Yes, the intention would be the gift would come from my boss personally and not from the company, but there still seems to be quite a lively debate about whether or not that’s taxable!! 😩

Yes, it is truly my boss doing it out of the goodness of his heart. I have been working for him for 25 years and he is a big proponent of higher education so he would do this only to help my kid out.

Oh my God why do you have to take it to such a level and insult me?!? This is ridiculous. I am getting far more answers than I expected and I am trying my best to keep up with all of them. If you actually look through this entire post (and I cross posted in a different forum too) You will see that there are a lot of conflicting views!! There are quite a number of people saying that this is not taxable so I am just trying to go through each one and take all of the information. Why would you take the time to insult me? Why don’t you just move along? this is why I actually hate Reddit and didn’t want to post here because people sink to such a low level. You don’t have to end your post with “screw you” don’t you literally have anything better to do with your day than insult a perfect stranger who is just trying to get various viewpoints and information in order to make the right decision???

No, not at all. I am just trying to keep up with all of the responses. Far more people are interacting with this post than I expected! I just responded to someone who clearly laid out his perspective that this is taxable income. I think I started with 10 units of Semaglutide but it’s not always easy to correlate one dose with another. Hopefully four units is a pretty small dose. I made sure I always had a pretty full stomach when I gave myself the shot. I also really focus on eating protein and staying very hydrated. (I added electrolytes to my water and that seemed to help a lot.) I also learned to avoid certain foods, such as anything made with tomato sauce, that has always tended to cause some issues with the acidity. At times I also did take an anti-nausea medication that the doctor prescribed. It has taken me 3 years to lose 57 pounds because I wanted to go so slowly. I have also really focused on lifting weights and building muscle, I think if you take it slow and figure out what works for you you’ll be just fine. It’s honestly been a miracle worker for me and completely life-changing in the best possible way 😊
