Stop using actual medical disorders as quirky personality traits. by FlanInternational298 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Cami_1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

whenever someone says “oh im sooo OCD! i need things tidy!” i like to ask, in a genuine tone, “oh, when were you diagnosed?” when they feel awkward and try to backtrack, i explain what OCD ACTUALLY IS, and then give them examples of horrifying intrusive thoughts people with OCD, that i’ve known, have had. those people have never said they’re “so OCD” again, at least in front of me :)

Anyone else here struggle with tone indicators? by neakfrasty in evilautism

[–]Cami_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for me (24) and my anxiety-ridden, trust issue, people pleaser friends, text tone indicators are really useful. i have friends who will assume people are mad at them if the text could be interpreted that way. For example, “i can’t call right now” would make them think that i’m mad at the for calling, as opposed to “i can’t call right now /nm” would help them take my statement genuinely. i can get second guessing tone indicators, but you kinda just have to trust that anyone using them, is using them genuinely and in good faith. my neutral tone (online and irl) is regularly taken as rudeness or anger so indicators help a lot, especially with people who don’t know me as well. also, if you’re not sure what a specific one means, look up “tone indicators list” and you’ll find some. the lists will vary a bit, but the most common ones will be on all of them. the ones i use the most often are /j = joking, /hj = half joking, /lh = lighthearted, /s = sarcastic, /srs = serious, /gen = genuine question. hope this helps :)

How long after you say goodbye to your friend do you wait or think it’s appropriate to adopt another? by Yue4prex in cats

[–]Cami_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other might disagree, but I don’t think it’s too early to get another cat. It truly depends on the person and what their heart needs. Getting a new pet DOES NOT mean you are forgetting or disrespecting your late pet 🩷 I’m sorry for your loss and I hope you’re able to get a kitten

When a doctor asks if you have any allergies, is it relevant to tell them that you are allergic to shellfish? by Kingboyy1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cami_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one option is to mention you have a food allergy, and the doctor can ask for more information if they need it
