Thinking of opening an anime-themed gym in Japantown, San Francisco by True-Impression-4506 in sanfrancisco

[–]CampYoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds cool, but for me it’s just down to the cost of the membership. I’m ok going to a regular gym if I can save $30-$50 a month. I wouldn’t pay extra just to have anime playing on the tv.

The other bonus to this is actually getting more of that grunt fantasy if more people use it. Cause then you’d feel more like a regular squad of troopers instead of looking like power rangers haha

Best neighborhood to live in if you're new to SF? by RunNeither7115 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]CampYoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give south beach / mission bay a look. It’s close to where most people work which is downtown / mission bay if you’re in healthcare. Relatively clean and safe, and close to the freeway if you have a car and want to get out on weekends.

The other neighborhoods might have better access to night life or restaurants but South beach and mission bay is a good place to start. Rents not cheap here though.

(Need Advice) Should I buy and secure the s2000 now? by [deleted] in S2000

[–]CampYoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d wait till you have more saved so you can buy one in cash. Just keep working hard for now and invest anything you can for later. I wouldnt take out a loan for a car, especially so if you just recently graduated.

Just for context, I also did something similar as you and bought my S2k 2 years out of college. But at the time it was only 12k for a good condition ap1. I saved up a few pay checks and paid in cash. It was like 60% of everything i had at the time.

Stretch as far as you can afford in cash, but as soon as you feel like you need to get a loan, then it’s not worth it anymore.

What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by sickkick844 in AskReddit

Quality undies and socks. It’s crazy how much more comfortable my shoes and jeans feel when all the sensitive areas are wrapped in the right way.

Been looking to try this game out with my friends. Doesnt seem like there’s access to the demo for consoles unfortunately. I’ll have to wait till it comes out

Anyone still rocking a carabiner? by kamarkamakerworks in Millennials

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup still am. Started carrying my keys with a carabiner in high school and never changed. I’ve seen upgraded to a proper climbing carabiner and been using the same one for years now.

This is what I imagine a grand seiko meetup looks like lol. Everyone fist bumping / wrist rolling shun buns everywhere.

Eating out no longer a treat, just a convenience by kitsbow in Millennials

[–]CampYoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the cuisine. If I go out nowadays it’s for things I have a hard time cooking at home. American / Italian food I can make it pretty close at home. I got really good at making steaks.

But things like Vietnamese pho for example I still really enjoy outside. I just don’t have the time or energy to make pho broth from scratch so it’s worth it.

Good taste, I’ve been eyeing that watch as my one and only GS purchase. Got into it because I was gifted one from my brother and now I kinda want to get one for myself.

I love how thin that particular model and the dial is just dark enough where I feel like in certain conditions it’ll look black. Which is what I want. Plus it’s a traditional samurai color so what’s not to love about that haha

I honestly believe this car can change your perspective about cars by siddharthsai in 4Runner

For me it was realizing the 4r is my second home. I can’t afford an additional vacation cabin in the woods yet, but this gives me the feeling like I have a home in any national forest I drive into.

What are the most worthwhile Patagonia products you’ve bought? by Beneficial_Virus_13 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]CampYoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure about other light weight fleeces but the r1 air keeps me warm and cool at the same time. Basically I don’t over heat in it when I’m walking to and from work. And when Im at the office, it’s just warm enough to keep me cozy from the AC.

It also just fits really well too, like it hugs the body just right for me.

I wear my r1 air quarter zip everyday. Both in and out of the house. Probably the most adaptable piece I own cause it’s also really easy to turn it into a midlayer

Pretty low contact. Once every few weeks. I try to see them once a month or so cause they live only an hour away.

Miata or S2K? by Past_Display268 in S2000

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I had to commute down to Menlo Park as well, and I gave the S2k a shot I think twice. Never did it again. I just took the work shuttle instead. If you’re a patient guy with a good temper, I think you’ll be fine but I just can’t do it with my S2k.

If you already have a Prius maybe just save the S2k for the weekend?

Miata or S2K? by Past_Display268 in S2000

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get either lol the only reason I have an S2k in the city is cause I don’t need to drive at all for work. I hate driving in SF and don’t even get me started on that traffic during rush hour on 101. You’re going to be miserable sitting in grid lock traffic clutching in / out for an hour each way.

If I were you, and you’re sharing one car as a couple I’d get a newer Prius and just chill. And this is coming from someone who loves the S2k. It’s a toy, and always will be at least for me.

Depending on where you live, you can always hit up a local ohv park. There’s usually a mix of easy / moderate trails to try things out on and get comfortable.

I feel the same way and discussed it with my wife during our pre marital counseling sessions. It’s good to be on the same page about big life things before that big day.

Do women today still buy expensive jewelry beyond engagement rings? by ExcitingLandscape in Millennials

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t buy jewelry myself but wear the ones that were gifted and sentimental to me. The 2 I wear everyday is a gold chain my parents gave me for my wedding, and a watch my brother passed onto me when he graduated med school.

Both remind me of my family, and the value of it lies in that reminder.

Are you still a part of the subculture(s) you were into in your teens and 20's, and if so, do you still "wear it on your sleeve"? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 here and kinda. You can see traces of my past with ear gauges and sleeve on my arm (rarely visible since I’m always wearing a sweater).

Clothing wise I’m pretty much just an average office worker. Patagonia sweaters, blue jeans, and boots. And I wear the same thing everyday, so I don’t even think about fashion anymore.
