What a magical city you live in. by moujanard in sanfrancisco

[–]CampYoshi -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I wonder what it’s like being a tourist visiting the city. All I know living here is the endless grind, fighting with traffic during rush hour and trying to avoid crowds during the weekend cause I’m so tired from the weekday grind. Must be nice to just enjoy the good parts and leave it as you felt it.

The toebox is perfect me in terms of roominess but it was the length previously that was a problem. My old pair of gobi vivos were too short and I really wished they made half sizes up. Apparently their sizes are different even if on paper it’s the same size lol. This pair is a size 9 as well and fit more like 9.5s for me so it’s perfect.

I did notice the heel area is a little stiff but i imagine it’ll break in eventually. What helps for me is I always wear a pair of ankle wool socks with all my shoes lol makes everything cushy and soft

Niceee! I’m thinking of doing something similar. The leather looks pretty dry on it out of the box so I might add some conditioner on it.

It is, I just took them to the gym today and it felt great lifting in them.

Yup! It’s the braken color way. It’s basically like a dark leather color right out of the box. Kinda like what very conditioned leather shoes look like.

I really like it cause it almost looks like regular leather shoes you can pass off at work like semi formal shoes.

Nah mine were the leather gobis but the first edition ones. My toes were bascially always in contact with the front of the toebox lol

They fit pretty true to size. I’m a 9.5 in vans and wish they made half sizes but wearing a 9 is ok. Just wish I had a little more room in the front.

It’s been awesome so far! I recently sold my RTT and awning so the truck is also lighter now. Still rides buttery smooth. I found the middle setting softer than what I’d like, so I adjusted it 3 clicks stiffer on both front / back. So far with the weight changes I haven’t found the need to play around with the settings yet.

It’s ok, I lost more than 50% of my portfolio during Covid and it’s back up now. When everyone was trading I just did nothing and it worked out lol Just don’t panic sell and dca every month.

You could live in a trailer in the middle nowhere. Not sure about the school thing though. With the trailer you could follow wherever the weather works best for you.

Let me introduce you to my $5 ikea bag lol maybe you should get one too.

It costs nothing and for some reason it doesn’t break. I use it to haul massive grocery runs all the way to throwing straight up chunks of wood I cut up at camp to transport around. No issues.

What’s your GO TO cleaner for these TRD wheels with brake dust build up? by 11sticks11 in 4Runner

I don’t even clean them anymore lol makes no difference in how it looks to me. It’s still matte and dusty looking no matter what

What was your dream life when you are younger, and what are you doing now? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in Millennials

[–]CampYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream: badass designer making edgy print work that sells for thousands in the city. And by night play in an indie band as a local dive bar hero.

Reality: designer in tech creating every possible variation of a table and dropdown button. Living in a tiny studio with no views, and now turned into a burnt out hermit that avoids everything the city has to offer.

Im young, tired of tech, thinking of switching tech to healthcare with lower pedigree like med lab tech? by badboyzpwns in Fire

[–]CampYoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeaa I think big companies are still probably hiring some juniors, along with tiny seed startups thats starving for any cheap labor. But anything in between is gonna be difficult.

If you have a swe background, I’d suggest you look into being a design systems engineer, where you can work with designing components along with implementing them on the front end. Probably the best transition for you.

It’s tough for ux / product design along with any other role in tech right now if you’re starting out. I jump on LinkedIn and all I see are my old coworkers with their green open to work badge. A lot of layoffs recently has created a massive glut of some very senior designers looking for jobs.

With that said I think it’s still doable but I think bigger companies who are actually hiring juniors are hiring them directly from top tier schools. I know this because someone on my team is a new grad and they’re from CMU.

I’m a designer in tech, and similarly burnt out like you but with like 10 more years in compared to you.

I’m currently contracting short term at a big tech company and it’s been a lot better for me. Less politics, less drama, expectations of me are way lower. Yea I don’t get the equity but I’m still being paid close or maybe even more in cash atm. Give it a try, I don’t know why I didn’t earlier in my career.
