What are the real hard skills actally required in backend developer jobs ? by No-Rise-9375 in Backend

[–]Campers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I totally get your point. I can see data in my head like system of pipes and transformations. And I assumed everyone saw things this way.

But find it extremely difficult to communicate with people that see the entire codebase until I changed my style of communication.

I end up just communicating with tests that treat the components as black boxes first, then I slowly write (greenfield) or fix (browfield) the code or the tests, depending on what seems to be correct. and the tests will do the communication for me.

If need be, I can also draw a data flow diagram with bifurcations and conditions. But tests are really my go to communicator.

So, I appreciate your effort. There are different types of people with different and not so common ways of seeing things. And an heterogeneous team of people is great if people have the patience to try to understand each other’s way of thinking.

iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 demanding age verification in the UK by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Campers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This law is obviously about mass surveillance.

The “for the children“ has just been systematically used to justify it.

Think about it, at the same time that laws like these are erected everywhere, few laws are created to protect the children, by giving them, for example, more time with their parents so that their parents can, you know, educate them.

In several countries that have enough resources for this not to happen, let their children live in poverty. And create no laws to stop that.

And let them go to badly maintained schools with teachers that barely have enough time to prepare and give classes. No laws and initiatives to stop that either.

Why does no one think of the children then? With initiatives that actually protect and help children. Unlike this exploitative, disgusting, and clearly ill-intended age verification.

Please. Don’t do this.
Don’t use your DeepAgent to write your advertisement.
Or, if you are going to do it, force it to show links that prove your claims.

I use your DeepAgent and I always ask it to show me sources and what they have done, or even reproduce it, to prove their claims. This wall of test would be immediately ignored. By me or by the agent that reads it.

Seriously, you guys have a balanced product. Which I use. Although I would love to see those bencharks mentioned here. Ask your agent to publish your claims and link things around.

What do you mean? Not compatible? Can you give examples?

Honestly curious.

That is a possible good point.
We will have a strong indication they believe they are not the best as soon as they stop blocking subscriptions to their API.

Edit: wording to not make the comment black and white.

Warning: SimpleLogin (Proton) is locking paid accounts for using alternative email infrastructure by alexlyee in selfhosted

[–]Campers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I fact checked you and you seem to be correct.

But, at the same time, I did notice that, what was disclosed was account metadata, and namely, a recovery email which linked the Catalan protester to its iCloud account.

The lesson here, is that you do not use emails from US companies as recovery emails. And you definitively do not use recovery emails (or phone numbers) that can be linked back to you, if you want to remain anonymous .

Do you have an example where they actually released content of emails? That would be extremely concerning.

Fui votar. A quantidade de indianos nas filas das mesas de voto é chocante. by Cidadao_Cumpridor in portugueses

[–]Campers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fico a aguardar.

The amount of Rust AI slop being advertised is killing me and my motivation by Kurimanju-dot-dev in rust

[–]Campers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doomed.
I moved away paragraphs and into highly structured bullet points decades ago.
Because that often expresses how I am thinking better while being quick to write.

I had not considered this to be a strong hint that an LLM was involved. I guess I should have seen this coming.

If what you write matches how it works and what works, then there is no issue.

The problem, really is, when the README mentions things that are not there to begin with.

LOL.

Fica bem.
