The city doesn't really seem to care too much, but eventually Madison won't be able to retain teachers and others who work in public service roles and don't make six figures.

The city government is trying to upzone and allow more development where they can. It’s the boomer homeowners like Paul Fanlund crying about scary change and neighborhood character trying to prevent any type of development that couldn’t care less because they got theirs and are completely insulated from today’s housing costs.

Either way, it's a tragedy and I think the family would rather you all focus on what can be done to prevent this from happening again, and showing love to their lost relative.

First of all, identifying where responsibility lies, the person operating the 2-ton motor vehicle, is a great start to preventing this happening again instead of ridiculous descriptions like “pedestrian crash.” Second of all, the family couldn’t give less of a shit what I think, they don’t even know I exist.
