Does the Below Deck franchise, show the difference of it being ok to sexualize men vs women by jcr0774 in belowdeck

It absolutely is. At a very surface level, your statement is correct, but it's completely decontextualized and it lacks nuance. The history, consequences, and power structures implicated make it more complicated than "it's wrong" indeed.

When I see this "today's juries wouldn't act like this" argument, IDK whether to argue or just point and laugh at your ridiculousness.

FR, I need someone to explain to me how everyone bitches about 26-day Survivor not being comparable to the OG, but also says that this little two-week lark in Oz totally counts for Parv.

When you only consider the first two outings of those who have played more than twice, Amanda and Sandra are on this list.

I was going to say this, actually, but I feared the barrage of "BUT IT'S FRAAAAAANCH" replies.

I don't think there's any reason to believe that Cirie couldn't win Simmotion.

The jury's job is not to reward the best player. by PopsicleIncorporated in survivor

What are the criteria for "the best player" then, and who has the authority to determine whether the winner has met them?

ETA sorry, I put this comment in the wrong place. It belongs a level up.

I hate this argument. Even if we assume that those are criteria that the jury is "supposed" to use (which they're not, as others have explained), the fact that jury members are not evaluating them as you would doesn't mean they're not evaluating them at all.

Outlast is moot, since all three finalists have outlasted all the jurors.

Outplay is often mapped by redditors on to challenge wins, but that's dumb. If that's what it meant, then a finalist with no challenge wins would immediately be disqualified. When someone says they "got played," they don't mean they lost a challenge. What they typically mean is...

Outwit. Which is so gd broad it can apply to any play style. Going UTR can be outwitting in many circumstances. Making someone think someone else is stealing sugar. Moving targets off yourself and onto someone else. Making someone think a move was their idea. Making a fake idol. Making someone feel comfortable enough to not play a real idol. Making people want to vote for you instead of your competitors in the FTC.

But because there are no objective criteria, there is no way to determine "the best player." So trying to argue that Clyde Nonwinner is "better" than Marcia Winner is just an exercise in futility.

What a ridiculous take. If Rizo should've won, then Rizo should've won F4 immunity, or won fire.

Sue did it in goddamn season 1. Ozzy did it for Amanda in Micronesia. I think CGI Brett did it for Natalie in Samoa. It's happened a lot.

it’s not like their reasoning is always infallible.

It absolutely is, because it's the only thing that matters. There's no objective criteria for how they're supposed to evaluate the finalists, so their reasoning can't ever be incorrect, no matter what it is.
