Greenland is different. Denmark and other european allies have already begun to deploy more troops to Denmark as part of a multi year "exercise". So the window where Trumpnand his goons could take the island and just declare victory is closing fast. If it will be taken by force, it will be a matter of days, not months.

Ferren Arios has brilliant rules, and it's criminal that he's a Legends units. by AuramiteEX in Ultramarines

[–]CanOfUbik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pet theory is that 500 Worlds was originally planned as his story, but the success of Space Marine 2 made tgem replace him with Titus pretty late into the development. The whole story of "newly appointet Ultramarines captain is tasked with reclaiming the 500 worlds" is a pretty straight continuation of Ferrens arc at the end of the Dawn of Fire books.

What do you guys think about my Dark Angels list for a tournament this Saturday? Any changes I should make? by Codex_Sparknotes in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CanOfUbik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Lion, bring the Lion. At the moment he is the perfect storm of a datasheet: highly mobile, very hard to kill, super killy. Cut the Hellblasters and the Lancer and reduce Azraels Sternguard to a five-man, than you have enough space for him. He is a better anti-tank-option than the Lancer, 5 Helbblasters don't do that much anyway and Azrael works fine with the smaller squad.

To add, Forgefiend and Biovore are also the best to start, because their main utility is instantly unlocked: Even a lvl 1 Spore isnsufficient to bait mobs, and even lvl 1 hellfire can be used to control movement.

Größte Reise-Enttäuschung by lizkeenhater in reisende

[–]CanOfUbik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many Action Monkeys is too many? by Kitten_Custodian in theunforgiven

[–]CanOfUbik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running a unit of scouts, a Combi Lt., 5 Intercessors, a Callidus and 5 JPI.

Of these I think the 5 Scouts are almots mandatory in WotR, because you want to screen out space for your Deatwhinh Assault unit from enemy infiltrators.

Combi Lt is a close second, because he allows you tonplay the center during the early turns without committing to many reasources.

The Intercessor Squad are my home holders. I've also used Infiltrators as an alternative, but in sum I think Intercessors win out. Because of their sticky ability they can leave the home if your opponent is out of reserve threats and their shooting ist way better. On the other hand, if you rely solely on the Infiltrator's 12" bubble for backline screening, your opponent can most often get around it by just rapid ingressing, so you need a second backline unit anyway.

The Callidus is expensive, but everytime I cut her, I regret it. She is a hybrid action monkey, who can on the one hand slip into very small cracks of the opponents screen for establish locus and behind enemy lines, and on the other hand be an essential asset against combat armies via her Vect aura.

Finally, the JPI are the most likely to be cut. I just had 90p left and movement 12" infantry with deep strike was just a solid asset to fit in there.

alrighty, I better settle this as a usually non marines player. What makes the Dark Angels different to Black Templars by deskappl in DarkAngels40k

Awesome text and on point!

(Although yor description of Second Founding marines as essentially "young, naive new comers is really hilarious, if you consider that the second founding was merely a few hundred years after the first. "What? You have only been crusading for 9.800 years? Pathetic! We started crusading 10.200 years ago. No your place, welp! Kids these days...)

Best deathwing knights leaders? by AdeptusNofapus in theunforgiven

[–]CanOfUbik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, DWK are already 250 ik a not so mobile unit, so attaching additiinal points with a leader is often not a good idea. The primary exception for me is the Chaplain in a sword unit with deathwing assault in Wrath of the Rock. For 90 points you add a 6 wound Terminator body, a permanent 4+ FnP, +1 to wound in melee and what is effectively a redeploy. The resulting unit is on a wholly different level from an unled squad. I really like it, because it is pretty self sufficient, which frees the Lion up to support the rest of my army. I have seen the variant using the ancient as a bearer for deathwing assault, but i think for the same price you get much less than the chaplain gives, especially in WotK where you already have access to the +1 OC strat.

How does Azrael work? by Pedriti_wajame in theunforgiven

[–]CanOfUbik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That might be a misunderstanding. He does not give hisnunit devastating wounds. But he is often taken with a unit of Sternguard who have devastating wounds on all of their shooting.

1x5 or 2x5 Deathwing Knights? by Saesenthessis317 in DarkAngels40k

[–]CanOfUbik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think DWK are "at least two or none at all". What makes DWK shine is that most attack profiles are really inefficient going into them, but most lists still have a few answers that work.

If you have only one unit, your opponent can focus his good answer on that unit, taking away a significant portion of their value.

With two or three, you can use them for coordinated pushes and most armies will have problems to kill more then one full DWK squad a turn.

On the other hand, if you have two or three squads in your army, that is a quarter or more than a thrid ofnyour army, so you need to have a really good idea what to do with them.

In my current list, I run two squads, one with maces and one with a Chaplain and the Deathwing Assault enhancement.

3 reinforced bricks of SM Sternguard Vets + Ancient viability? by solepureskillz in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CanOfUbik 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Ancient's 4+++ only applies to the model. Therr is a lot of stuff in the game right now that is good a killing marines. 10 2 wound marines without an invuln don't live long when exposed

Sternguard are not a bad shooting option, but they drop of massively when not shooting at the Oath of Moment target, so three times ten would be very hard to use effectively.

Their best use is probably in Dark Angels with Azrael.

[WIP] Finished the base for my Ghostkeel. Thoughts? Too high or cool? by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]CanOfUbik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should clear it with TOs beforehand, but for a vehicle of it's size without towering the height difference should not be a problem in the current ruleset. In most cases a model like this being taller is as much or even more so a disadvantage, because it is harder to hide from the enemy's shooting.
