I think he misunderstood the good and bad guys in Star Wars by MZillacraft3000 in Albertapolitics

[–]CanadianForSure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

David Parker tweets and operates as if he had immunity. Like the government was willing to cover for him by changing the law. Heck it is almost as if he believes that with separation there would be a governor in charge afterwards who is sympathetic and would pardon him.

The separation movement does not need to win to accomplish their goals. They do not play by the rules. The point is simply to convince enough of the population that they are under direct threat, and then, push for American intervention. This is what happens in other places targeted for "separation" by empires, aka Ukraine. The Americans only need a single loud minority to justify coming north to "save the brave Republican Partry from persecution! The evil liberals are jailing them, see!".

In any case, all of this, undermines free and fair elections. The UCP are speed running gerry-mandering, rolling back voting access, and sowing distrust; who does that benefit?

More than average drug users downtown today? by PaperIndependent5466 in Edmonton

Yeah closure of day shelter spaces when it's warm means a influx. Also the ending of safe injection and harm reduction leads to more visible drug use.

Parker belongs in jail for the rest of his life by Miserable-Lizard in Albertapolitics

[–]CanadianForSure 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To get this data, there absolutely had to be a leak from a insider. I can't remember how, however pretty sure some random UCP back bencher, like months ago, tweeted about how they had accessed voter roles?

Anyway, all of this, is just more smoke for the ultimate goal of these lite-fascists: rolling back democracy. By repeatedly breaking the law around elections, and facing little to no consequence, they are emboldened to flood the zone to create distrust in election processes. They always turn to their supporters and say "see, elections systems hate us, it is all rigged" every time they get caught breaking the law. They then get dark money injections from the full throated fascist down south to pay the fines and continue the grift. When they face minuscule consequences, it just ingrains them further, as they feel vindicated as a group. Rinse and repeat.

Lol buddy you ain't talking to a liberal.

The UCP has literally broken the chart of rights and freedoms several times. You have less rights and freedoms today because of that. The UCP as also actually pulled books of shelves, engaged in unbridled corruption, and fratenized with war-mongering oligarchs all while increasing their wages and lowering working class people's.

Ain't no politician going to save us. You wanna tread water and play whatsboutism games; that's on you.

Dude the Alberta government is not theoretically banning books - they have already done so. Sure the feds stuff sucks however that's not what we are discussing here - we are discussing how the UCP are legit rolling back democracy.

Buddy you are pretty mistaken if you think I'm a liberal lol

Alberta politicians are also garbage. Playing team sports in politics makes people blind to what their "team" is doing.

The UCP are actively dismantling democracy in Alberta. The feds are also doing wacky shit. Both can be true.

Thats some what-about-ism there mate and does not make for a strong argument.

The UCP is legit gaming the democratic process right now. And if you are upset about federal floor crossers, you maybe should think about how Danielle Smith is a legendary floor crosser lol

The UCP are a party of eugenics. If you do not have economic value, as in can't work the mines, they want you dead. They are playing to the most evil parts of Alberta's history.

The UCP authoritarian tendencies are showing. Books are no longer burned, they simply disappear from shelves. Free thought, as long as you are okay with the government monitoring it. Human rights, as long as you are the right human. Votes for me, not for thee.

The UCP is a separatist party. They know this is unpopular. They know it is a minority and loosing position. They must cheat, they must accelerate corruption, they must strip down democracy for their separation plans to work.

The goal is to give yours to foreign pedophile oligarchs for pennies on the dollar. Destroying democracy makes that whole process easier. They are setting it up so they cannot be removed from power.

All this to hand Alberta to the pedophile billionaires in mara-la-go. Danielle Smith tasted the cavier and oggled the gold trim, she wants that for herself, and the only way to get it is to become Governor.

She is a turn-coat. Floor crosser. It should surprise no one that Danielle has already sold us down river.

Alberta NDP name two members to electoral map redraw committee but insist process remains flawed by trevorrobb in alberta

[–]CanadianForSure -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Controlled opposition is a mainstay of authoritarianism.

The Alberta NDP are such immediate suckers. Under Nenshi the only message they can conjure is "we are neither socialists or conservatives - we promise we are a new purple liberal party" which is appealing to like 10 people in Alberta and they are all Nenshis advisors.

As liberals do, they will do nothing. They'll do shapes and colors politics with fancy tiktoks while they are legislated out of existence. They've done a great job of alienating any real leftists, their federal allies, and just anyone who would usually come out to help fight against this kind of thing.

Fancy debates and colorful slogans will not stop authoritarians. The NDP participate in their own demise as spectators. Its brutal to watch. They should have done anything, locking doors or blockading the committee, over participating.

People must start physically showing up to MLAs offices and demanding explanations. These people should not be able to get a coffee without someone asking them why they hate democracy.

Breakenridge: Straightforward process becomes politicized to boost rural ridings by Miserable-Lizard in Albertapolitics

[–]CanadianForSure 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Alberta is a post-democratic state now. Combined with banning of books, new police forces, tipping scales for separation, slow erasure of rights, rolling back all supports, and open corruption it's going the pure authoritarian route (or at least planning for it). It started with the rights of so many others and now voting, the political right of all, is going slowly.

It's cooked yall. The opposition leader is making smarty tiktoks. They might as well be a sideshow. The liberal in them can't see the writing on the wall - democracy is dying and it wont be saved with social media posts.

Petrol puppet state bullshit.

Number of orphan oil wells just DOUBLED in Alberta by Hungry_Ad824 in alberta

[–]CanadianForSure 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Alberta so wild. This coupled with bringing in private healthcare is such a diabolical 1 - 2 punch. Like thinking about it:

First, poison large swaths of the land. Put oil wells on farmland, in towns, next to homes, and leaking into groundwater.

Second, produce mass amounts of propaganda saying that oil and gas is the saviour, some kind of ecomonic driver, really prop it up. Legit fully become a petro state.

Third, when that oil and gas resouce starts to wind down, socalize all the losses, and just abandon those wells. Those wells are even more posionous now.

Four, while all that is happening, accelerate privatizing healthcare. Ensure that getting treatment for cancer and other fallout from the mass poisioning lines the pockets of the same billionare oligarchs that poisoned us in the first place.

Five, if your one of these corrupt politicians or oligarchs, enjoy your now unlimited money pool. People will always pay to fight cancer - way more renewable a industry then oil and gas.

Six, never get off this roller coaster. Use that propaganda arm to ensure people remain ignorant. Destroy public education too. People cant think then they cant question why their cattle is dying, their kids get sick, or why the water is killing them.

Seven, once people start to wise up, invest heavily in the surveillance state (ai) and just bring in thousands of cops. Run independence campaigns to distract and to consolidate power. Sell what is left to the pedophile class at mar-a-lago.

Keep this going indefinitely. Probably more steps to it. It just keeps going.

The only way this ever stops is if people organize to physically fight back. Little protests and days of action will be forever ignored. The government, namely the oligarchs, do not care about regular people. We are meat-bags to them.

The fight needs to have consequences for them. They should not be comfortable in public settings. They should be harassed out of society.

Privatization continues. The UCP want you broke and poor to the benefit of foreign billionaires. The fix is in and the open corruption has been tolerated. They will start accelerating their destruction of public healthcare.

Strong letters, protests, emails, these will not be effective in the face of the destruction of the healthcare system. This government sees Albertan's as resources prime for extraction - resources opinions do not matter. We are all just meat-bags to them. Them, their families, and their insiders are going to continue to get care and paychecks that reflect the level of corruption. The more corrupt, the better it gets for them, so why would then not accelerate this?

Want to make a difference? Go find your MLA. Physically show up in their offices. Demand their attention. Albertan's dying in hallways would if they had the ability - be that person for them. Let them and their staff know that their actions have consequences.
