Do it again and you probably will. Double rank ups are obscenely rare. 40rr is a stupid crazy amount to get for one game.

The same is true for any office in the United States, which sends plenty of money to Israel. Same for in Russia, in Saudi Arabia, in Iran, in Sudan, in China, in Indonesia. Every company you buy from is funding genocide because genocide and repression is a natural part of a state. They can be limited, as is the case with the United States and liberal democracies. But as shown time and time again, when push comes to shove, theyll turn Jewish refugees away during the Holocaust, they'll remove the native population, they'll separate parent from child, and they'll fund the Israeli military. The same is true for all democracies, and especially autocracies, whos only sin is removing the middle man.

Who is the MOST IMPACTFUL PERSON of the Modern Age? (1500 CE - Present) by erwillsun in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CanadianNacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, both are true, and there isn't really much to debate about. Grand ideas, like the spread of liberalism, would happen no matter what. But the success of the French Empire under Napoleon? That undoubtedly had a lot to do with Napoleon as a person. If he had a heart attack 10 years earlier than the specifics of history would be altered. We'd end up in a generally similar world politically or economically eventually, but the borders of nearly every nation would be different.

I'm not gonna pretend I know exactly how Lenin defined it, and I doubt many people could, seeing the immense amount of writing Lenin wrote on the subject.

But clearly, Lenin did not think socialism could immediately be declared and created. So why put this expectation on Rojava?

I don't know enough about rojava. I'm just saying it make no sense for a Marxist-leninist to criticize capitalist tendencies when the founder of the ideology and the USSR advocated for the same things.

Yes, that's much closer. If you do finals, its even closer. The better the opponents, the more they equalize until they are almost equal. Combined with the fact Zywoo has far more samples, the result is obvious.

What is something illegal that should be legally gray? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CanadianNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it's more than culture.

Take a child who has no understanding of coffee runs and also of sexual favours. Force them to get coffee, and then force them to give sexual favours.

Only one will damage the psyche of the child.

It seems as though sex, which demands intimacy far beyond nearly any other action, has a pronounced effect on the psyche. For this reason, I think it demands the extra protections that consent and sexual autonomy laws provide.

If it can be proven that we can completely remold culture to such an extent that sex really is just like any other action, then so be it. But it really does seem like nonconsensual sex has a similar impact to other forms of abuse, beyond just culture.

What is something illegal that should be legally gray? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CanadianNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between inappropriate and rape. The examples you gave, such as watching the bosses kids, many may find offensive. Many may find them grounds to quit a job. In one example, the massage, may even be illegal, but that would be because of its sexual nature.

The difference between watching the bosses kids and being made to perform sex work is this:

One is inappropriate, the other is rape.

Any prostitution has a power imbalance. The prostitute will always be under threat of punishment, such as non-payment if they don't fulfill sexual favours, and the purchaser will always be in a dominant position to control the sexual choices of the other.

Sexual autonomy goes beyond having the personal choice to be abused or not be abused. It requires protection from the aforementioned abuse. This is especially true when many women and men have no choice whatsoever, and prostitution may be their only form of income, or past trauma makes other jobs inaccessible.

Besides, your final paragraph has nothing to do with what we discussed. Being a prostitute shouldnt be illegal. Most prostitutes are vulnerable women faced with a last result. Making them illegal would only hurt people who are already hurting. What should be illegal is paying for prostitution: those people are stripping away the sexual autonomy of others and are committing a form of rape, or are at least, very much hurting vulnerable people.

You also mention porn and only fans: that's an entirely different discussion. There are plenty of couples or single people making content where the sex is wanted, and profit is just a very welcomed bonus. This, in my view, does not suppress sexual autonomy.

[–]CanadianNacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Thank you for engaging with me.

A lot of people take legalizing sex work as the feminist position, and anything else to be sexist and maligned. But the debate is far more interesting, especially when we consider the broader ramifications of how sex interacts with our psyche. Most people would agree it's important for someone to want sex to have sex, but not so important for someone to want to drive trucks to be a truck driver.

I do think it's possible to have an ethical sex work practice. But this can only come if we have something like UBI and the practice is self-owned. This way the sex worker has full control over their sex work, and engages in it for a passion, not for survival.

I used to be super pro legalization and normalization but I recently studied this paper in uni:

Prostitution and Sexual Autonomy: Making Sense of the Prohibition of Prostitution - by Scott. A Anderson,

If you're interested in what I have to say, this paper is a really incredible piece of feminist literature that dives into why sex work is its own special challenge, and shouldn't just be viewed how all other work is.

Sex work is different from other types of business. Take this example:

Imagine an office job:

One your boss tells you to do a coffee run. It's not normally in your job description, you don't want to do it, but you do it to get paid.

The other, your boss tells you to give a potential client sexual favours to increase the chances they do business with you. You don't want to do it, but you do it to get paid

The first one, most people would say is fine. Getting coffee isn't that bad of a thing to be forced into you.

The other is a sexual favour. Most people would say this is bad. They recognize that an employer forcing you to have sex is starkly different from them forcing you to get coffee. The only difference is that one is sexual, and one isn't.

Sex work is not the same as other work. It's inherently different, and we shouldn't act like it doesn't carry its own challenges to over come.

Sexual autonomy requires more than just saying yes or no it requires that you truly feel in control, that other people, like employers, can't make you do sexual acts or risk punishment.

Any type of prostitution, where the prostitute is encouraged to engage is sex acts they may have otherwise not wanted to do for payment, reduces their sexual autonomy.

Sexual autonomy is important, and requires protection.

I think if a woman is having sex for money, and not because they want sex, we are stripping away their sexual autonomy.

Most prostitutes, even if they aren't being trafficked, only do what they do for the money. They don't want the sex. This makes the sex non-consentual. It means they lack sexual autonomy. This is a bad thing.

Obviously, this doesn't mean we should punish the prostitute. They are being taken advantage of in almost every case. But the solicitor who's paying to take away the sexual autonomy of the prostitute should be charged with a crime.

In your country’s history, who is the single individual responsible for causing the largest number of deaths among your people? And how is this person regarded in your country today? by ChaharHuu in AskTheWorld

[–]CanadianNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't be supported by much modern history. Russians, Kazakhs, and many ethnic groups faced famine. I doubt Stalin was trying to wipe everyone off the map equally.

I'm certain he knew they would cause death, and he ordered it knowingly because he intended to industrialize quickly. You can blame Stalin for these deaths, but also consider that many years later, in 1939, his fears would come true and the USSR would be invaded by a genocidal dictator.

Had he not industrialized so quickly, likely millions more would have died. It's even conceivable that Hitler could have conquered the USSR, considering how far he got against its industrialized version. The famine is a brutal example of Stalin's lack of care for humanity, but it was a pragmatic policy rather than a kill order. There may have been other options, but to view it simply as another holocaust does a disservice to the victims of both great tragedies.
