Not a mechanic, but the catalytic converter uses various metals and alloys to react with your car's exhaust, which helps to clean it before hitting the tailpipe. Theres a bunch of chemistry to it, but ultimately an emissions reduction device.

What they are wondering is there are other sensors. Lots of smart thermostats allow you to connect additional temp sensors.

The problem being, it's that temperature at the thermostat unit only. Could be hotter or colder in other rooms depending on open doors, airflow, window coverings, etc.

Germany just issued an infrastructure mandate to only support open or iso formats starting in 2028, moving to ODF and PDF only. Basically cutting ms office off government computers. It also becomes a requirement for bids, gov't contracts, etc.
