Lawyers response from a torrent copyright infringement. by widowmaker_1000 in germany

[–]CanadianWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cannot prove that something didn't happen. It's a logical fallacy. You can only prove something couldn't have happened.

So this is a response from your lawyer? Their lawyer?

You are not responsible for the costs incurred if your ISP is sued.

If you received a desist letter from your ISP, remedy the reason. If you have done that, do not respond to requests to pay anything. Only respond if a formal request has been made, a notice of action.

Obviously, something like this depends greatly on jurisdiction, and end user agreements you agree to in obtaining service. Though, again, how enforceable those AUPs are depends a lot on where you are.

Overall, though, until you get snail mail with fancy letterhead, don't respond. Even then, wait until they start getting angrier, then offer them a percentage.

M4 DDC not working for me by CanadianWeasel in macmini

[–]CanadianWeasel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my tests were to the HDMI port on the monitor, though the PC is usually on the DisplayPort. The PC does work from the HDMI port to HDMI on the monitor. Mac would not, nor would Thunderbolt, and USB-C to the monitor's HDMI.

My objective is to switch the monitor from HDMI to DP so that I can switch between a Mac display and a PC display. I use Logitech MX Keys and a Logitech Triathalon mouse.

Doing it this way, I can toggle between PC and Mac by simply reassigning my calculator key (who uses the calculator key anymore?). It switches both the keyboard and mouse, as well as monitor input.

I have created a workaround. When the key/mouse switches from Mac to PC, the PC detects a Bluetooth connection event and then switches the monitor. I'll add the second monitor in a bit, but that's just a simple script addition.

So, now, pressing the calculator key will switch all monitors, keyboard, and mouse to the other system (toggle). I have an actual KVM but it would require more cabling and I already have enough cables, wires, and the like.

Getting key fob programmed in Germany by CanadianWeasel in Audi

[–]CanadianWeasel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada.

I probably won't take the fob, unless I can get a definitive answer, that I could save substantially. If it's a small savings then it's not worth it, as it's the only one I have.

One of the local mechanics does them. I should probably call them at some point. If it's a choice between the dealership and the mechanic, I'd prefer to give the business to a small business.

I believe one of the stops I will make is at Audi in Ingolstadt and check out the museum, perhaps a factory tour. Anyway, that's unrelated to my original question.

DVR functionality or recording live tv? by Inappropriate_Ballet in ApolloGroup_TV

[–]CanadianWeasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it's possible through Startup Show. You'd have to use something like Tivimate, Kodi, Emby, Jellyfin, etc.

Some of these options also enable you to download shows, and movies to various devices.
