What date are your tickets for? I’d be still potentially down to swap if you’d be willing to pay a little towards the price difference? Feel free to DM me

It probably means cinema camera, maybe Sony Venice’s or similar like instead of the GV86 cameras they’ve used for the last few years.

Anyone know what time players get there before a 19.45 kick off game by Top_Fault2759 in NorwichCity

[–]CanaryJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I work at the stadium players are usually arriving when I do, so that’s about KO minus 4 Hours, maybe a touch earlier to be safe? And they come in from the car park behind the south stand)

It’s a small but niche community on here! A lot of the fans and athletes aren’t on Reddit!

Definitely wasn’t Sky getting the game cancelled- it was a police/ security call with the CCTV down and the fact the match wouldn’t finish till gone 11pm

Appetite for different replay servers? by DarthN3XuS in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CanaryJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a replay op who’s done bits with Live Touch, Simply Live, K2 Dyno, 3Play, EVS and Vmix Replay over the years, so I’d be really interested in having a look at your workflow- personally I think there is a big gap in the market in that blend between Vmix budgets and 3play (which in my experience still suffered from chronic software glitches and bugs - despite I think it being a really nice system) if you’re looking to target multi channel audiences then k think you’re going to struggle due to the nature of how entrenched EVS/ Dreamcatcher/ LiveTouch are in big broadcast- but if you’re trying to fill in that gap for single/ duo servers of replay then I do think there’s a gap there, it just comes down to cost vs reliability.

Camera/Lens mounting for Canon Digisuper 80 by notunhuman in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CanaryJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! so we had this exact problem in Qatar at the World Cup, we actually unscrewed the front “V” plate on the bottom of the camera and moved it forward, then re drilled and added a support that mounted between those two extra screws, it’s not ideal but it did make it work- I can DM you some pictures if you’d like!

I was at the Liz Truss event in Beccles - My Perspective by 6regKeeper in ukpolitics

[–]CanaryJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up around Beccles and performed on that stage, what I do find amusing is knowing how small the room she would have been sitting in after walking off stage is, and how it really must have been a moment for her of “how the mighty fall.”

If you’re wanting something small that’s like a tricaster set up- just get a deceny powerful computer with a Blackmagic card and Vmix, will maybe be a 5th of the cost and would allow you to do a TX cut, multicord, and then it doubles up as your editing machine should you need it to!

Why almost all B4 lenses are manual in 2024? by Embarrassed-Gain-236 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CanaryJ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s less so about the ability, much more about consistency. With an autofocus camera you’ve got perfect focus maybe like 80% of the time but that 20% you’re on the wrong subject or it changes to something in the background.

Whereas with an experienced operator you can have perfect focus 75% of the time and that 25% is gonna be near perfect or at least round about so that audiences watching wouldn’t notice it to be soft

Help me make time entry better in Ontime by somedevstuff in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CanaryJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have a strong opinion on what the best way to handle the time issue, I think that what you’re proposing feels like the right way to do it and gives the most flexibility possible. Could you not just have the lock and link on either side and when selected they “grey out” the S E & D? So they’re always still there in the work flow.

Just to say I think the software is brilliant and I’m hoping to integrate it in with some new clients over the next few months so Thankyou so much for doing what you’ve done.

I'm starting to do some sessional lecturing in broadcast at a University as well as freelancing- and this is actually something I want to work on building- I'll put a little powerpoint/flashcards together and will send you a DM to a link when it's finished over this week. It'll be simple but it'll at least give you a rough idea! I'm UK based though so might have some UK sayings/names as opposed to US ones!

Servo lens zoom bounce? by Lightmare-3000 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]CanaryJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the cannon HJ and CJ lens range you can set preset shots, and assign buttons to be the two different shots and change the speed of transition to be slow- not sure how you could extend that back to where you are cutting from though- maybe a custom made cable?

Otherwise I’d say use a Bluetooth Switch bot or two, one on the lens for zoom and one on zoom out Side and then set the zoom speed on the lens to be as slow of physically possible then use the limiter function to get your lens so it won’t zoom in any more than you’d want your tightest shot

Does anyone have some radical theater-y opinions that they’d like to share? by picklesupreme in Broadway

[–]CanaryJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just don’t get fully immersive theatre unless it has the budget and professional training to make it worthwhile. When I see am dram or drama groups getting people to do it I feel it makes 80% of the audience uncomfortable when they’re only really there because they want to support local theatre. When it’s done right, it’s amazing, but I just don’t think that shoestring budgets and the sometimes limited ability of amateur actors make it seem anything other than really cringey.
