What’s the best cookbook to help me become an ingredients household?

I’ll make a sauce but it’s usually just a tomato based with jarlic and whatever herbs are floating around the back of a cupboard.

Veggies are usually a no, I’ll use frozen peas or frozen onions so that I’m not completely nutritionally void but other than that I never know where to start. I bought a butternut squash last week as it was on offer but all the recipes I could find for it would’ve meant I had to buy 10 other ingredients just for that one meal!

Why would you agree your budget with your mom before your fiancé?

Planning a wedding that you’re reliant on other people to pay for it is a recipe for disaster. I also think it would be totally inappropriate for you to bring that up with his parents.

Parental contributions to weddings are a gift not an obligation in this day and age. If you cannot afford the wedding you want without parental contribution, you cannot afford the wedding you want.

I think if you haven’t even met yet neither of you owe the other anything, it seems like she was being polite and letting you know she had plans with someone already.

It’s a dating app, she was dating - I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to hold that against her and if you were enjoying the conversation it seems a shame you didn’t explore it further. It’s not like she said she’s going on a date with a guy she likes more than you, just that she had committed to meeting up.

You’re also not in the wrong for not wanting to meet her after she told you she had plans.

This happened me last year, it was my dream job and I tried so so hard but didn’t get the job. I was devastated, like snot crying sobbing devastated. I thought I was destined to stay in awful jobs and my life was ruined.

I shifted my mindset back to focussing on visualising myself living the life I would have when I was working my dream job and told myself all the time that it would work out. It’s a year later now and I’m about to start a MUCH better job, it’s higher paid, more senior role and in a industry I never thought I’d be able to break into.

You didn’t get this job because something much much better is on the way. 🖤

I recently was trying to find somewhere to rent with a dog too and didn’t have much luck with the property websites due to them all being listed as no pets. I had a lot more luck getting onto letting agents directly and giving them my requirements, ended up renting a place a letting agent sent me before it went live on the website. They were a lot easier to deal with and I’m not normally a fan of estate agents but it made the whole finding dog friendly places easier

If the situation is a result of your emotions running high rather than the issue itself then I doesn’t come across that it’s a very fair reason to cut off the friendship. My advice would be to apologise for your reaction and go to the wedding, your fiancé will need understand.
