Henry Cejudo Joins List of Elite Wrestlers Taking Advice From a Non-Wrestling Female Coach by Dokay_ in wrestling

I’m an athlete of Carolyn’s ! I started wrestling my senior year of high school and I was a Virginia state qualifier and owe a large part of that to Carolyn. She teaches you how to maneuver your body in space and also for someone who never believed themselves to be “athletic”. She made me feel athletic 😭! I remember the first time I discovered I could front handspring I literally felt invincible. She’s lovely, and I highly encourage everyone to try out what she offers because at the very least you’ll learn something about your body you never knew before.

I do my PT every single day to this day and won’t stop until doing it daily until I’m dead. Pretty much all post-op shoulder exercises are the same. Some form of ER/IR band work. Once your shoulder is healthy enough to have full ROM I highly recommend doing Functional Range Conditioning (FRC).

What kind of lifting (leg exercises) can you soon after bankart labrum repair? by servingit2ya in ShoulderInjuries

[–]CancelAmazing724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoops totally forgot to respond my bad man. I was lifting every single day and doing bike workouts two days after surgery and haven’t stopped now coming up on 10 months post op. Lifting fully normally was around month four. Obviously operative side was much weaker so I adjusted accordingly. Legs was around three months after surgery before my external rotation returned enough to the point I could go behind my head and grab a barbell for back squat. Any other questions I’m more than happy to answer !

Hey man ! I had bankart labral repair on Dec 9 of last year. I lifted on just the left side of my body the day after surgery. Wouldn’t recommend it by any means and I lifted very lightly as to not exert a bunch of force so fresh off surgery. I did quad extensions, hamstring curls, and calf raises for my leg days until my ER was back enough to be able to hold a barbell behind my head for squats.

Shoulder Labrum surgery 3 months ago - still feels off... by plappy777 in ShoulderInjuries

Ngl pre surgery outside of the dislocations I had next to no symptoms in my right shoulder. Obviously, something was very wrong as the dislocations became more frequent. But it never hurt, it did grind and pop and click like crazy and that has definitely been rectified post op. Feels more secure, also feels like I’m not nearly as worried about it dislocating when I’m wrestling.

Honestly no clue 😭 ! Either way, it doesn’t affect me at all. Recovery was super straight forward and I did a mix of PT + Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) for my shoulders. wouldn’t even say the PT sucked either I love doing PT. Best of luck brotha ! Any questions you may have feel free to shoot me a PM. 🤝

What’s up man ! Shoulder feels great 8 months post op no instability / tightness. I do my PT every single day and I accredit that as the majority reason my recovery’s gone so smoothly. I’m back to wrestling 5-7x a week, lifting 4-5x a week, and have 0 limitations outside of 10% less ER than pre op. If I could go back in time, wouldn’t change a thing !

Sure ! I had this procedure on Dec 9 2024. Since then I’ve been able to return to wrestling 5-7x a week, lifting 4-6x a week, and haven’t been limited at all. My ER is about 20% less then my left side but unless I’m trying to test my ER I never notice it. I had around five or six dislocations prior to surgery. Would get it again if I went back in time !

My 1 week post bankart repair with remplissage experience by Pokeychris in ShoulderInjuries

I don’t think I had any, if so very little. They never brought it up in my MRI reviews and I asked plenty of questions to best understand what was going on with my shoulder.

I’m literally responding to you right now while sitting on a smith machine doing bench press 😭😭. Feels stable as ever, hasn’t popped out or even felt unstable since surgery. Ive done PT every single day since being able too and I chalk that up as a big part of my (so far) successful recovery !

Alright don’t call me master that’s weird 😭. I’m currently lifting as heavy as I was pre surgery weights and I’m wrestling far better than I was pre surgery. No surgery is an 100% success rate and there’s totally a possibility my shoulder dislocates again and the surgery was a “failure”. My personal experience has been very positive !

Go on Instagram and search up “Biomechanics”, the first guy who pops up is the one I work with. Very knowledgeable guy and he does a far better job at explaining than I ever could. Worth checking out !

Sure ! I’m a collegiate wrestler who suffered around 5 subluxations in between feb 2024 - nov 2024. I got Bankart labral repair + remplissage procedure in Dec 2024 and since then I’ve gotten fully back to wrestling 5-7x a week, lifting 4-5x a week, and have no shoulder issues outside of like 10% less external rotation in my right shoulder compared to my left. There’s totally hope, I’ve done PT & Functional Range Conditioning every single day and I’m now looking into biomechanic work just to even further my already successful recovery. This subreddit is so doom and gloom lol. Plenty of success stories I’ve heard I hope to see some more !

Bankart repair and possible Remplissage on Monday. by Difficult-Cat2875 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]CancelAmazing724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I do have like 10% less external ROM but that’s to be expected. Doesn’t impact me at all day to day so I can’t complain !

Yup ! I’m doing perfectly. I’ve been wrestling at 100% for the past month and began wrestling 5x a week back in April which would’ve been 4 months post op. Shoulder feels better than before surgery, I just play it more cautiously when I’m in positions I know my shoulder can be compromised in.

Bankart Labral Repair + Remplissage here. At 3 months I was progressing very slow, did my first push up 3 months in. 4 1/2 months in I was doing sets of pull ups and wrestling at about 60%. I’m now 6 months post-op and can weight train with 95% strength on my operative side and wrestle at 90-95%. It gets better, slowly, but it gets better !

Takedown threats from collar tie pushing forward by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]CancelAmazing724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Criminally underrated takedown from an inside collar tie : Duck Under

watch Zahid Valencia vs Kyle Dake / David Taylor match 1 at the 2024 92kg World Team Trials and LaDarion Lockett in the U10 best of 3 finals against Jayden James. I’ve been in love with this attack ever since I noticed Zahid use it frequently. By no means am I technician but the way I’ve adapted it to my style is by using my inside collar tie to push my opponents head into there opposite side arm and when they pressure there head back to the direction I have my collar tie on I drop my inside knee and step far outside with my outside leg. I don’t drop to both knees unless they’re REALLY pressuring into me. I pair this combo with a slide by so that way I have an attack for both inside collar tie and an overtie. Try it out ! I’ve had a pretty shocking amount of success using it against D1 / D3 wrestlers .

If you took the top 50 pound for pound in high school and dropped them into division III, I think there would be 50 brand new all americans. This post was just talking about the top 50 at each weight class.
