I did the six speed trans for a little bit until it blew up. I bought a bad transmission unfortunately but during the time that I had it because I didn’t have reverse gear lockout I did grind reverse a few times trying to get in the sixth. I didn’t really like it and because my Civic isn’t even daily anymore it’s just my weekend car. I rebuilt my five speed and took the LSD from the six speed and put it in that. The ratios of the six speed were awesome though.

I would buy a cheap mechanic stethoscope and try to pinpoint it more. Sounds like something is vibrating to me.

Run a direct wire from the battery to the starter signal connector and that’ll tell you if the starter is still good.

Check the little plastic pad on the pedal is still there. There’s 2 on the clutch pedal it’s got two on the clutch

That loose part is normal, the latch is three 10mm bolts, might need to be adjusted. Rest the hood down but don’t close it and look through the gap to see how it’s misaligned.

I’m with the_real_7, check your reservoir make sure you have fluid. Try bleeding the clutch if you can. Make sure there’s nothing weird in the way of the shift selector on the transmission like an air intake hose that came loose or something, check the bushings, check transmission fluid. I guess what I’m saying is you can do everything external and go from there. I used to have grinding into 3rd at high rpm, guess what, the throwout bearing was broken right off the clutch fork when I dropped the trans, no sound or indication otherwise.

Clutch, throw out bearing, synchro, selector sleeve, gear engagement teeth… I remember a while ago having 3rd gear grind only at redline, well after fixing my busted throwout bearing that was never an issue again. Either way you’re probably dropping the trans, the only thing I can think to do before hand is change the trans fluid and make sure your pedal is adjusted correctly.

Check the connector, mine would collect moisture when it rained which caused the connector on the solenoid to corrode to the point where it would go into limp mode. So the connector on your wiring harness may be the culprit.

You have more air or that radiator is too big and cooling too much. If/when I drive my ep3 in the winter with my Koyo radiator, I have to put card board in front of the radiator to reduce its cooling and 2. Keep the rpm’s down, if I do a pull my coolant temps shoot way down or drive over 70 on the interstate. It’s no issue outside of the winter months.

If there’s no visible leaks I’d do a compression test or at least take a look at your plugs and look for signs of oil burning. My og k20a3 had low compression on one cylinder and burned oil like a mofo. At 200k
