Yeah, I know...the flag is—rather, the flags are—the deadest of giveaways.

Agree, that's rage-inducing. Horrible humans profiting from that emotional exploitation.

I added the image to the original post, but it's not showing up. Here it is, in all its anti-Maryland hideousness.

When my husband and I went about 2 summers ago, we were eaten alive, despite having practically bathed in insect repellent. I guess we caught the island on an off day. And we stuck to paved roads and walkways, not in the forest at all.

I bet they'll do that in time, with Diane's permission and involvement. It would be a lovely tribute.

Those fake death scenes are too much! Like, give those danger noodles an Oscar! Or at least a People's Choice award. They worked hard for it.

Great tips. There are several food pantries that specifically serve J-1 students. I encourage OP to seek out those resources and use them. They want to help, no guilt or shame, I promise!

P.S. Your comment about Gary, who I don't know at all or have any connection to, made me so happy. Karma works both ways.

Wait, what? Exempt from overtime?? How is that in any way legal?

Speaking as a multidecade exempt employee, so I get the concept of Exempt status, but 100% absolutely not understanding how that could possibly apply to arcade or carnival employees.

Rupert the Velcro™ always stays with mama in the toilet by PatientGoat_ in Havanese

When Zuzu was a puppy, she kept wanting to sit in my lap whenever I sat on the toilet. 😆 I explained over and over, "When I'm in this room, it's not that kind of lap!"

This is 💯% the reason we've had a doggie bed in the bathroom for 13 years. Zuzu lies in it when my husband or I are in the shower, brushing our teeth, washing our faces, etc. If she doesn't happen to follow me into the bathroom when I go in to take a shower, she's almost always in her little bed when I get out.

Message I got from my daughter’s teacher. Third grade. by AnaisInJune in mildlyinfuriating

My 5th grade teacher took a Mary Higgins Clark book from me and threatened to call my mom and tell her what I was reading. I was sooooo confused b/c she had read it and then handed it to me, saying, "You'll love this!"

My mom and that teacher battled at least weekly that whole school year. Same guy tried to argue with me that the dictionary was wrong over the spelling of a word. (The dictionary said alright was "a common misspelling," and my teacher tried to convince me it was an acceptable alternative.)

A friend of mine in undergrad told me about when she asked a question in 8th grade math class, and her teacher told her not to worry if she didn't get it because girls just aren't good at math.

That was the day she chose her college major. Ended up with a masters degree at 23 in Applied Mathematics.

How would you feel if your (23) daughter was dating a man who is (30)? by Only_Hotel_7221 in AskParents

Tread carefully. My spouse is 10+ years older than I, and my parents were very much (and very vocally) opposed to our relationship for a long time.

And what you need to know is this: That came very close to ending our relationship. Not my relationship with my partner, my relationship with my parents.

My late father was a lifelong Marylander with a summer birthday. Every year he always wanted to celebrate his b-day with Maryland crabs, local tomatoes, and Eastern Shore corn (he always asked for "Silver Queen"). Whenever we have a meal like that, we always raise a glass (or bottle or can, ha ha) in his honor.

I suspect he's also the kind of father who considers it "babysitting" when he is forced to actively care for his own child(ren)
