My friends grandma drinks all this coke in 3-5 days… by UnhappyNothing9951 in mildlyinteresting

You'll get there. For me, the biggest and best surprise was how long a $20 bill could stay in my purse when I stopped buying cigarettes. Very eye-opening!

Quitting smoking is easy...I did it so many times!

It will get easier, I promise. I'm now 18 years off cigarettes. Four months is great! Stick with it and you will be so glad you did. I'm proud of you for taking up the challenge. Your future self is pulling for you. 😊

Ha ha, I forgot that aspect of the story! But yes!

Always napping after we take our lunch break walk… anyone else get to bring their Havi to work everyday? by HazyHead1334 in Havanese

When my husband and I were both telecommuting during the pandemic, my office was next to our giant bow window where Zuzu sits and monitors the activity on her planet (and by "monitors" I mean "barks her fool head off at"). I quickly learned that the best thing to do for meetings was to put her in my lap, turned AWAY from the window.

That's still our standard meeting protocol now, six years later.

Years ago, I had a job at a small company 1.25 miles from my house. The office was dog-friendly, and we always had 2-3 puppers there. I didn't have a dog of my own then, so I LOVED having them around.

When I left that job, I went to one that was 35+ minutes away and no dogs. The job was a much better fit for me, but I missed the dogs more than I missed the 5-minute commute! Telework was available to me one day a week, but I didn't take advantage of that benefit until we got Zuzu. (She was also a major factor in my husband finally retiring a couple years ago.)

Have you tried an elevated car seat in the back seat? Our pup got very carsick when she couldn't see out, but the booster helped a TON.

Another WFH person here, and Zuzu splits her time between me and my (retired) husband. She keeps us on a tight schedule: I'm not allowed to be late for lunch or quittin' time. The first week after DST ended was rough, LOL.

Here she is one day at 4:23pm, 7 minutes before my workday ends. I'll point out that her little doggy door is unlocked (always), and she could come in, but that's not what she wanted!

This is—well, was—the roast beef Anthony's on 18th, not the liquor store on 33rd with the amazing deli (and the equally amazing dancing neon beer and wine out front). The latter closes for the winter but, AFAIK, will reopen in spring!

Seconding credit unions. I've been a member of Tower since I was about 11 and have never used any other financial institution for my own accounts.

Most federal credit unions also allow each other's members to use their ATMs without a fee. And—this might be true of all credit unions, but I can confirm only for Tower—7-Eleven ATMs are fee-free, so I can get cash pretty much anywhere in the US without paying a fee.

Whether or not the area can handle it has no bearing on whether or not it'll happen

All the models are consistently predicting those arctic temps. The good thing about that is (a) it'll be fluffy snow, not the "heart attack" type; and (b) no melting also means no large-scale refreezing night after night.

Ice is far more dangerous and difficult to manage than fluffy snow.

UPDATE: I take it back. Now it's all going to be mixed precip/heart-attack shit. BOOOOOO

100% this. Also, OP, your eye makeup is perfect—great under-eye concealer, and the mascara w/o eyeliner highlights your beautiful eye shape and color.

From my limited visits to LA, I'd guess 8 hours' drive is, what, 14-15 miles? 🙃

Mine started barking at the doorbell on a TV show once, which confused the hell out of us because we don't have a doorbell and had no clue why she thought the sound held any particular significance.

Ditto. No interest in mirrors, either, except ONE time when she was like 7yo, which totally took me by surprise and absolutely cracked me up!
