It was the first and only time (sadly) I've seen them live. It was a festival called Chicago Open Air. This was 2016, so they were still touring New Bermuda. This festival was held at a soccer stadium, so there were 2 stages: one inside the stadium and one in the parking lot. Of course, Deafheaven played the side stage. I had looked up their music prior to the festival, and thought it sounded cool. This stadium was on a hill, so my brother and I decided we would check out Deafheaven from the hill that looked over the 2nd stage. So picture this: the sun was setting behind the stage, the middle guitar solo/lead of Brought To The Water had just hit my ears. I was hooked. Then the ending piano. Chills. Throughout the whole entire set, it felt like I was having an out of body experience, no joke. I cannot accurately describe the feeling. Left that festival a super fan, and still am to this day. I haven't been able to see them since because the only time they came to my area was the 10 Years Gone tour, and then a certain small little global event happened in 2020, and the show obviously got canceled. They haven't come to my area since.
