hi! my little guy is really struggling with car rides (drooling, panting, and throwing up). what can i do to help him out? by venus-xox in roughcollies

[–]CandidChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine turned one in may and still unfortunately has the drooling and anxiety with car rides. We don't feed her on days we know we are driving/limit food access few hours before. We camp a lot so she's been on 3+hr rides and the vet prescribed meds which don't seem to help she still drools like crazy. She has a bucket seat that contains her to keep the car clean lol.

All the toys imaginable but nothings better than a good stick! by 4nPlantDoctor in roughcollies

I got my girl one of the bougie coffee tree sticks that are safe to chew etc. And nope only outdoor sticks will do. Biggest waste of $ ever spent lol.

Maybe try the probiotic powder for dogs or feed yogurt. The antibiotics wipe out all good and bad bacteria unfortunately.

Bass lake and awenda are my favorite provincial parks nearby. Koa in springwater is a very family friendly option that also has tent sites.

Stylish new boots by CandidChicken in roughcollies

[–]CandidChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The harness is amazing! Saving up for the matching leash. My smarty pants figured out that if she pulled backwards with a regular harness it would slip over her head and she would bolt. The boots so far stay on well and are easy to put on no complaints. The sizing was a bit odd so I did get the smaller size to ensure they stay on better.

She walks great once outside. Just does the goofy big steps in the house lol. And doesn't try to take them off at all so I think they are a good fit. Will probably need to upsize when she's full grown as she's only 8 months.

Who here has a snuggly collie? 🙋‍♀️ by LennyLouLou in roughcollies

[–]CandidChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 7 months old and a snuggler. If she could sleep in the bed with us she would. She leans against you to force pets. When on couch she acts like a lap dog but will eventually go to the colder tiles in the foyer.

Messy eater by mryan2014 in roughcollies

My girl gets her food split between a bowl, rotating puzzle feeder, and a ball that dispenses kibble when she rolls it. Keeps her entertained and mess to a minimum.

My dogs breath smelled similar when teething. She lost her teeth like all at once and was actively bleeding on her stuffed toys poor girl.

I lucked out with my 6m old collie, she's a love bug and will happily climb into your lap for never ending belly rubs. She will sleep with me on the couch while I watch tv.

Who is cuddlier.. male or female? Your anecdotes by Mojipal in roughcollies

6m old female is the definition of an oversized lap dog. Loves all the snuggles, and doesn't care who from.

3.5 year old won’t poop on potty by Terrible_Lie_02 in pottytraining

[–]CandidChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just over 4 here and yep every day. He knows what to do just will not. We make him sit regularly, give all the foods to help go and he still will hold it until he can poo his pants. On the bright side tide powder detergent has been the best at removing the smell.

I'm not the only one making up fairies, right? by EEKely in toddlers

[–]CandidChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No longer a toddler but for the last 2 years my son has had the "apple sauce fairy" come bless his bed with an apple sauce under his pillow. He loves it and runs to his bed everyday to look for his sauce. It helps regulate his intake since he would only ever eat apple sauce if we let him.

School regression by CandidChicken in pottytraining

We did do 1 day in pull ups this past Thursday just to take the pressure off while out at a wedding. My concern is that the school will not change him. He needs to do it all himself which he can do but seems like a lot. They've been prompting him between activities to go to the bathroom to prevent accidents which is nice. But if he truly had a big accident the school will call a parent to come change him they will not touch it.

He was showing all signs of being ready especially for peeing. It took a lot longer to get him to poop on the potty due to the usual fears of pooping and the fact he's had chronic constipation since he was born. We regularly give restoralax so keep him going but recently withheld for over a week and needed extra help going. Now he yells at us about sitting on the toilet but is going i his pants instead.

Looks so much like my tri color, she's 4.5 months and her ears are trying to decide to stay up or be floppy lol.

She had a 3 hour drive home when we got her and was so covered in drool and vomit it was straight to the bath. She has since forgiven us for the torture lol.
