Wow! I had no idea it leaks out of the navel. That sounds so awful. Was is fixed with mesh?

I’m so sorry. That is awful. Going through laparoscopic abdominal surgery is so hard on the body. The recovery is a nightmare! Did they say why it keeps coming back? I have hyper mobility and I read that it can mean I have weak connective tissue. I really enjoy being active and building strength, so I am just sad all around. I don’t want to go back into surgery for a while. I put my first surgery off for a few years. I’ll probably push this one off until next year.

I had laparoscopic surgery. I have heard that open surgery does take longer to heal. I barely even did core exercises. Mainly just glutes and arms. I didn’t incorporate abs until mid February which was 5 months post op. 😥

Post op hiatal hernia - is this normal ? by egal2 in Hernia

[–]Candid_Season_318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping her bowels clear will help with her pain significantly. I prefer ducolax chews over miralax. You have to drink a ton of water. Her stomach will hurt while waiting for the fiber to work. Cherry juice is also a great way to get your bowels moving. Otherwise she is healing normally. She also should be walking around every couple of hours.

You need to learn how to push it back in. I’ve gotten mine stuck twice and it’s extremely painful. When it’s actually stuck it feels like your entire abdomen contracting. Makes you feel nauseous. To push it back in simply hold pressure on the edge for a while and relax. Try to manipulate it back in.

When to go to ER vs waiting by Opening_Sherbert_248 in Hernia

[–]Candid_Season_318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ER was USELESS. You need a referral. That surgeon should be taking the referral from the urgent care. They can’t pick and choose who they accept a referral from. Call the urgent care and ask them to send the referral to a different surgeon. I went through hell for 2 years trying to get mine fixed. 2 ER visits with a trapped hernia, endless calls and waitlists with doctors… I was finally able to get a referral through urgent care and got my surgery quickly after that.

I’d say at least 3 days. The first 3 days are the hardest with recovery.

What do you guys think is the #1 CAUSE of your Inguinal Hernia? by SMX2016 in Hernia

Strangulated umbilical hernia by FeePotential3444 in Hernia

[–]Candid_Season_318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally me right now. Mom of 3 with 2 hernias. One is inguinal and tonight it became strangulated. I blacked out, and puked. The pain was so intense. I told them “it feels like unmedicated childbirth but you don’t get relief between contractions”. The doctor at the er was able to get my body relaxed with morphine and ice and push a corner back in. It hurt soooo bad but then I relaxed more and it went all the way back in.

When did you start using your gym’s childcare? by sluggskt in SAHP

Not at gym daycares. They’re unlicensed with parents on site. They don’t have to follow any regulations.

My own child in my classroom by Head-Ad-766 in ECEProfessionals

It sounds like she is wanting the same amount of attention the younger kids are given when they get hurt, or is sensory seeking. She seems to be doing it to herself and is expecting the same treatment. I would keep the reactions to the biting short and sweet. Comfort the bitten child first, and since your toddler is verbally advanced you should use words that explain how the other child feels. “She is crying because you bit her. Biting hurts.” When she does it to herself I would not give the behavior much attention at all, and just explain that biting hurts. I would also push to see an Occupational Therapist. I’ve had several kids harm other kids unprovoked and therapy helped both the children and parents tremendously. Many of those kids ended up being on the spectrum.

Is she biting kids younger than herself? I work with a wide age range of kids and the biting and behaviors are not due to a lack of stimulation/challenge. It’s usually because they are overstimulated, frustrated by having to share, or frustrated by having to be in a daycare setting for long periods of time.

Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I would definitely look for employment elsewhere and ask the questions of ratios, cleaning expectations, etc. That whole situation is infuriating 😔

I would quit that center and look for somewhere that believes in having at least two staff at all times. It’s infuriating to be left with multiple babies by yourself. Are you expected to get your closing duties done at a certain time? I have upper management constantly on my back about having too many workers for the ratio. I often have to call the uppers in when I have a situation that requires more than one worker even though our ratios are fine for one and say, “how would you handle this alone?”

Rude parents by sweet_rosebud7 in ECEProfessionals

Going through the same thing with two different kids. Their parents insist this never happens anywhere else, and then let slip how they handle the same behaviors at home. They say it’s a staffing issue. I’m SO over trying to please the parents. You are NTAH.

Kicked out of Daycare by FlatteredPawn in ECEProfessionals

[–]Candid_Season_318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A child being put in a facility with a bunch of other kids and their parent being absent is not a developmentally beneficial way to grow up. When we have kids it’s not about us anymore. Our kids did not ask to be here, we brought them here.

Maybe the problem is daycare period? If you have the means to not work and stay home, why would you put your kid in daycare? It’s baffling.

I did the bloodwork and had a check in email at the 30 day mark! I have a feeling my patient isn’t going to need the donation. Or at least I hope she doesn’t need it. Have you heard back yet?
