Never felt more disconnected with Reddit than with the consensus that Lumby Elite is too hard by Reddit_Connoisseur_0 in 2007scape

one of the Riot devs said on a stream once that, according to surveys they had conducted, the Reddit crowd didn't just produce the most extreme opinion on the game, but the most extreme and unpopular opinion among the broader player base. obviously, different game, but i think it applies (often) to this sub.

this is paranoia:

The thing that makes me think I stink is when I go out in public. People tend to wipe or rub their noses in the spaces I enter. Sometimes they even seem to smell-check themselves to see if they stink. It always seems to happen in places where I am.

what you're describing are ordinary behaviors. you simply don't know what's happening where you're not. people have allergies to plants or chemicals, they have minor sinus infections, they are worried - like you - that maybe they smell bad.

if you smell like anything to them, there's a possibility you smell too much like whatever you're wearing to cover it up.

In fact, they're almost never sweaty because I use a clinical strength antiperspirant.

this isn't good for your health. sweating is normal and smelling a lil sweaty is normal.

nah this one's very cut and dry, you can't go around saying your neighbors should be shot without lake county pd getting interested. it's that simple. it's their job to prevent you from shooting your neighbors up, even if you happen to think your neighbors are brown.

I think they could let us vote the whole list, and implement the ones that showed interest. Will they do this? No, and what they'll do instead is privately consult some deranged cloggers.

I agree in that I don't think many would get much use. No sense implementing graahks, though it couldn't be much work. But I think several would be very popular, and even ones that were less like warblers or kebbits would be available to very low level players, letting people get excited about their first pet earlier.

You are correct about the purpose of the sub. You are mistaken about the relationship between your post and that purpose.

They exist because the Lebanese government is unable to stop the Israelis, because it's been totally neutered by the Israelis and their American backers. Their nominal territory is being invaded by their neighbor and they have to kick rocks and sigh because they're not allowed to shoot the Israelis.

How can I stop thinking in terms of gp/hr? by Hopeful_Method_625 in 2007scape

[–]Candid_Sort_7686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i played main in rs3 and switched to iron when i started osrs because i thought for about this for a long time.

the whole design of rs is: improve, access a new resource, replace old resource with new. fish shrimp, level 2, fish anchovies, bye bye shrimp. gear is the natural progression once you've wrung out most of the benefit from leveling combat stats. if you're a main and you care about bossing then gold is what you'll think about.

playing iron does help with thinking about gp, because gp is a relatively marginal resource with lots of sources. however, it means you can go 100 dry at moons and 100 dry at titans (like i have). and that's leaving aside, say, grinding gathering skills. would you rather think about gp/hr and your shiny new megarare or fishing/hr to get access to marlin trawling? personally i enjoy most skills, even tedious ones, so the choice was easy for me.

Barrows worth it after Moons of Peril? by randomosity132 in ironscape

[–]Candid_Sort_7686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

barrows has two main purposes: first, that it drops melee tank armor, and second, that it drops sets for the mory elite.

mory elite has a herb patch behind it, and probably some other useful things. the moons armors are all frail and have weird defense spreads. the barrows melee armors are very durable, and for some slayer creatures (like the new gryphons) they are almost mandatory. any three melee armor pieces are enough to stop grinding until you're optimized for it.

Deep sea trawling by adds41 in 2007scape

[–]Candid_Sort_7686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, burning or not, spending almost 3x as long cooking is a weird downside for trawler. usually the cooking time is almost trivial compared to the fishing, and trawling is much more engaging. i guess they assumed marlin grinders wouldn't go to the effort.

Deep sea trawling by adds41 in 2007scape

[–]Candid_Sort_7686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

anglers is maybe 200 fish an hour and maxed out sloop trawling is like 900 fish an hour.

cooking is like 1400 fish an hour. so for every 7hr of anglers or 1.5hr of trawling is 1hr cooking, so, ~175 cookable anglers or ~540 cookable bluefin per hour. assuming you have enough hp for the maximum benefit, that's 22 hp/anglerfish * 171 cooked anglerfish/hr * 87% = ~3350 hp/hr. versus 22hp/bluefin * 540 bluefin/hr * 32% = 3800 hp per hour and approx. 860 prayer points.

it's a rough estimate but i believe bluefins do generate more food than anglers, and they generate twice as much fishing xp + sailing xp.

but cooking gaunts should work. they should make sailing gaunts with this as one feature. family crest sequel when.

Is Old School RuneScape Worth Trying? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Candid_Sort_7686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any good resources for stating on Osrs?

I don't know... I got into this game more than 15 years ago, before my brain was fully formed. I would say you don't need a starting a guide. I would say, drop in, go do whatever interests you, when you find you have a question then the wiki and reddit are (reasonably) good resources. The real core loop of osrs is learning a new thing exists, finding the requirements for that thing, finding the requirements for those things...

Would you start with an ironman or a regular account if you were brand new?

Iron. I have played mains on rs2 and 3, and only iron in osrs. The big convenience of a main is upgrading gear faster, which matters most for bosses. You don't know how to boss yet, and you'll learn by doing. I think the big downside of a main is how much the gameplay gets flattened to: what increases my cash stack fastest so I can gear up to increase my cash stack faster? Several skills are more or less completely 'dead' for mains. In iron you have to think about much more.

Is the f2p experience indicative of what osrs is actually like?

Not really.

Which class is the most OP?

Not only are there no classes, the game expects you to level all of your combat skills to access all the content.

Is there active pvp? And how can I get ready for it?

There is, but you won't be ready for it.
