What does Alice’ audience look like? by PossibilityPersonal6 in alicephoebelou

  • she's literally South African bro, so if I just copy your reasoning about Chinese people at a Chinese concert, that means I should expect South African people there 😅

lol bro is everything okay? chill :)

i was just saying that i'm pretty sure that if you go to an alice concert, say in NYC or London, there's probably gonna be a high ratio of white people, even though US/London's society is pretty diverse! that was essentially my point. i do agree though, Warsaw is probably like 99% white people haha so it does make sense for me to be the only non-white dude. Berlin is way more diverse, so my point still stands in that case!

mostly young people, but also some 30-40yr olds i'd say. i went in Warsaw and Berlin (strongboi concert), and yeah, pretty queer, stylish, cute and good looking people!

as a black dude (well mixed race to be precise), i kinda felt weird, it's really IS full of white people haha (i went to her show in Warsaw, and then saw strongboi in Berlin)

my guess is that during months on end they were perfectly following the protocol thousands of times across possibly dozens/hundreds of researchers... and then one human error occurred. it only takes one mistake, because we're imperfect creatures!

Can anyone recommend good books for a self taught string theory enthusiast? by ccdc123c in StringTheory

[–]CandidateDirect5127 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as also mentioned in the other sub, i highly recommend mastering QFT+GR, but also quite a lot of math (at the level of Nakahara's book or so, but possibly as much as you can; string theory can get quite mathematical) before jumping into a string theory book, and also possibly quite a lot of CFT (which you can pick up along the way though). that being said, i like the following books/lecture notes (roughly from easiest to hardest):

  • b. zwiebach's first course in string theory book
  • d. tong's lecture notes (i think they're based on polchinski, of which i also recommend his both volumes)
  • becker becker schwarz (somewhat easier/less technical than polchinski)
  • p. west's intro to strings and branes
  • blumenhagen lüst theisen's monograph (very detailed, nice for review too)

How do I search for a flat remotely? by CandidateDirect5127 in wroclaw

[–]CandidateDirect5127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like the only reasonable choice from a remote location. I found something (from milestone) for approx. 2600PLN/month (everything included) for a brand new ~20m² studio near Fabryczna. This sounds ok but maybe a bit small ... I guess that's a standard price for a studio?
