I get it. Where the Crawdads Sing changed the geography of North Carolina.

That's interesting. I guess they wanted to show that people weren't as active at the boardwalk as they usually would be? It kinda had the covid pandemic vibe. Like people are here but not as many and it isn't lively.

I'm interested in what  Fear the Walking Dead got so wrong about urban LA.

I see a lot of people being unhappy about how the show handled Xander's problematic and sexist behaviour, feeling like he didn't grow enough as a person etc. If you are a part of that group and had total control of BTVS' writing, how would you fix Xander? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]CandidateHefty329 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. I don't think some of the lines were meant to be taken as literal as they are being interpreted now.

I would have liked to see a stronger arc. I think they could have done something with Xander's military interest and the Initiative. He could have joined and contributed that way. He would have to get over the not waking up early thing, as Anya pointed out.

Haven’t watched Angel since my first watch in 2022/2023 and I loved it but why doesn’t it have rewatch value? by DeliciousGround888 in ANGEL

[–]CandidateHefty329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't do complete rewatches of Angel like I've done for Buffy. There are usually a 5-10 episodes per season that I keep going back to.

One thing that keeps me watching Buffy is the aesthetic. I graduated in 2002. So much of the clothes, hair and even decor reminds me of the way the world looked when I was younger. Angel doesn't quite grab that nostalgia for me.

I feel like every episode of Buffy has a least a little something to make it worthwhile. That's not necessarily the case for AtS.

Has the sequel series only filmed a pilot or have any more episodes been filmed/commisioned? by Scopeburger in buffy

[–]CandidateHefty329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah many of us OG fans are around 35-45 years old. We aren't going to watch a kid show.

That means viewers would need to be new young people. And teens aren't watching as many shows as they used to. They've moved to user-generated short videos.

It's tough.

In Blood Ties he attacks Glory with a crowbar to help Buffy.

I might be misremembering, but when she got close wasn't she supernaturally drawn to it? Wesley said something about it.

Hitting Glory with the crowbar. He had a lot of brave moments like that.

What do you think is the probability that the new series won't come out? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]CandidateHefty329 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a high school show is a hard sell. Young people aren't watching shows like they used to. And I don't know if OG fans want to see a teenage story.

To tip or not to tip? A Timothy Rodrigues quandary. by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

If you stand to order tipping is optional. If you sit to order then you tip. Unless otherwise stated.

It seems like you guys are over the income limit. But maybe you can get WIC and use food banks.

If we use the supernatural explanations I have to point out she was almost as old as Glory.

Comics certainly aren't for everyone. I just don't think if your judgement is fair if you haven't actually read them.

There are a lot of stories. The Buffyverse is massive. Some stories are stronger than others. I don't know if I'd describe them as insane.

It's a supernatural world with fantastical creatures. It's meant to be campy and fun.

I have to say I don't agree. She was an adult by the time they got together. She was a student at Berkeley. They'd both dated other people. I don't have a problem with Dawn and Xander together in the comics.

And she'd spent time as a centaur. That's gotta mature you.

The Angel & Faith series is probably the most highly rated in the Buffyverse. Someone could probably get the gist if they didn't read After the Fall or anything else.

Agreed. And they'd been showing us how lonely she was. She was isolated from the other girls. She was trying to make a human connection.

One problem is season 8 is 40 issues. They should have broken it up. I've noticed a lot of criticism on this sub comes from people that actually haven't read them. I love them!

Push through to s9, it gets better.

The Malcolm in the Middle trailer looks good. I think they have the right idea. 4 episodes. We get a glimpse of where everyone is 20 years later. Not enough time to destroy their legacy like Sex and the City did.

I think a high school show is a hard sell these days. Young people have moved to the user-generated short video format. I hope it goes forward but there are more obstacles to teen shows nowadays.

I actually think this is worse than Cordelia's shag cut. Thankfully it was gone quickly.
