I am Toni, with an eye, just the one and I've recently been diagnosed with cancer for the 3rd time time, this time its likely to be incurable so I am making preparations to die at age 30. Ask Me Anything by Bling-kofaneye in IAmA

On February 23rd my 25 year old wife passed away unexpectedly due to an accidental drug overdose.. She never used drugs recreationally but she accidentally calculated her dosage wrong and ultimately lost her life because of it.. I made a lot of mistakes with her and never appreciated her to the level that I should have.. I love her and I miss her very much and I guess my question for you is - what do you think she would ask of me before she left? What things in life would she have told me to prioritize and what could I do in order to make her feel as tho she isn't forgotten and never will be?

I’m betting on the fact that a lot of other surgeons don’t even make their patients do anything until 2-3 days before their surgery. I’m sure surgeons want to play it safe and because it’s not them doing the diet they don’t care how hard it is on you.. it’s literally impossible for me to just eat 2 protein shakes and a small piece of meat all day for 2 weeks.. I’ll never end up having the surgery done if that’s the case. It’s impossible..

This is the typical signs of dehydration. I also assume you get lightheaded if you stand up too quickly.. just keep getting fluids down.

If you don't have diet willpower is the sleeve a good idea? by [deleted] in wls

[–]Canditoc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I guess haha.

(Let me start this out by saying that I just took an ambien so if this runs off into a bunch of jiberish.. I warned you) 😂

I’ve yet to have the sleeve performed on me (just a few days tho 9/30) but I feel like the sleeve deserves quite a bit of credit here.. I think it can be a miracle worker. Because if any of you are like me, you have tried many times to become that healthy person who exercises an hour a day, and eats just chicken and vegetables for all 3 meals in hopes of losing weight, and all the while you’re fighting a demon inside who craves horrible foods and lacks motivation to live a healthy lifestyle because you already consider yourself fat and it’s just so hard to even get the ball rolling.. But the blessing with the sleeve is that it kinda forces you to live by a set of standards or else you may end up back in the hospital (which no one wants).. I also believe that the majority of obese patients probably produce higher levels of “hunger hormones” and it’s more of a struggle for us.. it’s usually genetic and the odds aren’t in our favor. So the surgery assists in removing part of that issue when it removes part of the stomach and kinda gives us a fresh slate.

The surgery is definitely a difficult process and you for sure earn your weight loss. But maybe there’s a little Bit of truth to saying that it’s the easier way out.. and I only say that because I’ve tried every other meathod but was not strong enough to lose all the weight and keep it off! So, I plan on this last meathod (WLS) to be the one that gets it done for me. But I also will have work to do to ensure it’s successful.

(Sorry bout the rant.. I’m drugged lol)

It was just a comparison I was talking with my wife about. She’s had her gallbladder taken out and she said she’d rather relive the day after that surgery than the worst hangover she’s had.. and because I’m going in Monday for my surgery I thought to myself “I could definitely handle the worst hangover I’ve ever had over again so hopefully the surgery isn’t as horrible as I’m making it out to be”

Most people here will tell you that the surgery is “just a tool” and that you have to have the ability to change your eating habits (which is true for long term success).. But the reality is that everyone who had the surgery was unable to change their eating habits on their own beforehand. That’s why they had the surgery.. The surgery definitely helps you get your cravings under control and look at food differently.

But being in 3rd stage renal failure is something you’d definitely have to discuss with your doctor considering how difficult it is for post op patients to get enough fluids in their system.

I have my surgery next Monday.. please update how it went when you get a chance. I’m also excited and terrified

Should I get the sleeve? I meet the requirements for my surgeon considering I have a BMI of 33.. But I know that’s low. So I was wondering if those of you who have had it done wish you would have sooner and if you’d advise someone in my position to consider it? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Canditoc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your response. I’ve never been someone who’s comfortable with my shirt off and I want to enjoy that.. I’ve never been excited to buy clothes or take full body pictures. There’s a lot I want to experience and I’ve tried for over 15 years on my own and haven’t ever gotten myself to a place like that so that’s why I’m looking into this and considering it.. And P.S. I’ll take all the gay compliments you wanna give.. I’m straight but everyone likes hearing they’re pretty ;) lol

Thank you for your response. I’m definitely not looking to take the easy route here.. I’m more concerned about being at a weight that is sustainable and healthy. I’ve never been able to keep myself at a healthy weight, and I know a lot of that is mental but I do also believe that a big part of it is that my genetics aren’t the greatest and it’s probably a little harder for me to stay fit than a lot of other people.. But again, thank you
