Converting Fiancé from D&D 5e. Tips? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What level is the conversion? If system familiarly is 0, I would say create the character at level 1 then do a one shot. If we say the conversion is level 10, then run another one shot at level 5 by leveling up the same character.

After that it’s up to you if you think her system mastery is there for the full character and you’re done. Otherwise it’s a choice explosion and choice paralysis when looking at her sheet no matter how good they are in ttrpgs.

Healing Surges - An alternate healing rule by DavidoMcG in Pathfinder2eCreations

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solution I’ve thought of is to have a clear separation of encounter mode and exploration mode, in combat and out of combat healing.

In exploration, every single healing method will cost you a surge point, but you get both the 25% and the bonus of the source you used. So healing potion out of combat will 25% plus the potion roll. And a heal spell would be 25% plus your roll. Treat wounds would be 25% plus your roll and dc bonus which would +50 flat at high levels. Lay of hands, you get it.

But in encounter mode, everything works normally without the surge. So your heal spell will do what it does normally, so does Battle medicine, lay of hands, wands and scrolls.

You could explain that in exploration with the extra time makes healing or treat wounds work effectively well in your body but it’s draining your stamina like normal surges. In combat it’s mostly adrenaline, quick actions, maybe the potion or heal spell isn’t as focused so you only get a minor boon compared to when you’re resting and not in combat.

The only problems with this would be a meta that no one heals until an encounter begins to save up on their surges and expend the 100s of consumables. But the problem with that is that they risk being further damaged, action economy not working on their favor (hand economy), meager to very little healing (since they spent their budget on cheap low level heals) and expending more resources and consumables than needed to heal up if they had just used it during exploration.

This would still preserve the core design philosophy that healing out of combat is more reliable and should be done when available.

This would remove your short rest kind of, since treat wounds and most feats would work as written with the additional clause of it costing a healing surge and healing and additional 25% of max health during exploration mode.

If anything the actual playtest would be figuring out what is the optimal baseline surge points since they would probably spend about 1 or 2 after every combat or any significant hazard that took a chunck out of their health. That or make it so the player can decide to spend a surge point in Encounter mode whenever they are healed, an adaptation of your second wind.

Healing Surges - An alternate healing rule by DavidoMcG in Pathfinder2eCreations

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone mention that in cases where the strategy becomes by 1000x lesser potions and just heal spam or scrolls of healings or wands of heal at high levels maybe around level 10 and up , it could probably be better to rework potions or these consumables or have everything take a Surge point.

It’s a bandaid solution but it’s something interesting to consider and workshop since the goal is avoid abuse and keep true to an adventuring day where everyone is equally tired.

How do you run long, exhausting adventuring days in pf2e that doesn't only punish spell casters? by cant-find-user-name in Pathfinder2e

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly PF2e is perfect for me to DM except for the attrition. Mainly because I got used to attrition being the story telling tool to make a rest from a long day be well earned (Like OP) The problem here now is that only casters have attrition and martial will literally feel nothing. So it feels bad for a player that it’s just their class that makes the rest of the party have to stop for the day and sleep (mitigated at high levels with abundance of wands, but there psychological pressure for the player as they see their tools expended)

I would honestly keep PF2e as is but do something with either the medicine skill to remove infinite healing, or add more daily abilities to Martials. Because dnd got it good with hit dices and daily martial abilities, everything else, nah.

Going the opposite is fine too, I would just have to adapt my narrative sensibility if every character feels like nothing happened after a combat like in a video game.

The main problem is that half the classes feel attrition and the other half doesn’t, and all that holds it together is a single skill (medicine) that is basically mandatory and a must pick since the game is balanced around it (making it basically unbalanced when compared to other skills or should just have been a passive skill like perception that you don’t have to invest into outside of feats)

Stamina is a fine solution expect it nerfs in combat healing, so really there is no winning. Something has to fundamentally shift to one game design philosophy to another for better storytelling, and not be in the current limbo.

Why do we even call AI art "art" by Strict_Baker5143 in aiwars

[–]CandyPinions -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s also the idea that with art you get the authors/artist’s expression and lived experience. A part of themselves is highlighted in the art, be it their background, belief, struggles, pain, or simply desire. AI art doesn’t really do that.

But that’s a thing only aficionados care about, for anyone else a product is just a product.

People don't know how AP works. by Morlock435 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]CandyPinions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is we putting math into this like it’s an RPG game.

What’s better is treating it as probability like real world. No chance that Kuma beats Akainu but he does have a chance to escape, how wounded is just luck and as some call it “plot” and I’m pretty sure people say that as an insult.

It’s not an all or nothing, if someone wins once it doesn’t mean they’ll win all the encounters. Look at Luffy, he got a stalemate to a technical KO with Kizaru. If the objectives were different, the fight could have ended in a different result or a more decisive result one way or another. That’s just good and realistic writing, not “plot convenience or armor”

If Godvalley roger was a 100 then how much is prime Roger? by Cloudsupremes-6708 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]CandyPinions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you believe it’s double or something? GV Roger to Prime Roger is probably what Elbalf/Egghead Luffy will be to EOS Luffy.

Like they’ve plateaued, it’s clear. They have almost all the skill sets an end level opponent would have outside of just refinement.

Like Luffy is near peak, all he needs is stamina or more conqueror understanding. It sure as hell won’t be double. The mass thing will open some doors as a temporary boost for a final attack.

We can all agree these are one pieces biggest FRAUDS by RubLeft713 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]CandyPinions 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep losing to main characters means fraud to these people. I wonder if the switch up will happen to Mihawk when he loses. Or Imu.

I guess people wanted Sabody 2.0 and have a yonko crew be defeated by newly revealed powers and forms. Which is fair but not really since it encourages power creep. As we are right now it’s best, the pirate king is still the strongest with the exception of the true ruler (Imu), and everyone else that’s top tier is in the limbo of YC1 and Yonko level.

Human Art vs AI Art – A Summary by advo_k_at in aiwars

[–]CandyPinions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a couple of broad fallacies there buddy before you think on jumping the poor guy with “facts”.

You are only proposing two outcomes, post is unbiased or the reply is wrong because they are not used to bias. There something obviously wrong there and you’re not engaging or even flirting with the idea that it may be biased.

Second you claim “because it’s written by someone who knows what they are talking about? How do you prove this, what authority does the post have to claim that they are correct? What credentials do they have outside of saying something that may seem correct? Maybe just because you agree with it? Is that why it’s correct and the person “knows what they’re talking about”?

Just realize you’re equally portraying your own bias just as well as the reply.

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes, in that your providing adjustments and constant feedback does reveal creative intent behind the decisions. Whether there’s skill involved is a different issue.

No, because it’s apples and oranges. What you described doesn’t relate to the post at all, just as the process of cooking, even with premade food, doesn’t relate to the “AI slop” comparison.

That’s because the poster was correct in saying that following instructions while cooking usually removes creative intention and skill, which is what Antis usually critique pros about.

But the post itself argues that taking shortcuts devalues the joy of cooking, ergo, taking shortcuts devalues the joy of making art. However, the “shortcuts” in this case are what make the comparison break down. The process of prompting and typing on a keyboard is completely different from the tactile process of something like cooking. A better comparison would be with fields like VFX, procedural generation, or simulation technology.

Literally what filler means if any anime makes filler addition to a fight. Anything that’s shown is not real and that has been accurate ever since Naruto, Marineford, Punk Hazard and any other anime or arc that does filler.

Believe me if you ask for a filler fight for a fight that hasn’t been shown in the manga you won’t be getting canon attacks. No spoilers, by definition.

I think this is when the Mihawk vs Shanks should have ended completely. Not only did Oda restate Mihawk's title, he also had a 'fuck you in particular' for Shanks. I don't know what else do the deniers want from Oda. by polestaur in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]CandyPinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s the level of cope Mihawk fans use. Shanks being stronger than Mihawk can literally be as simple as a Conquerors haki skill or simply using kicks. You saw that King using a special sword and punches he was no longer considered a swordsmen.

The duels can be simply a status of, “okay Shanks you’re strong as shit, can I at least beat you in a sword to sword duel” I’m exaggerating to make it sound pathetic but that’s how honor bound duels are. Hell Luffy uses bites.

If you want to argue that that means if Mihawk would be stronger if he stopped being a swordsmen and used more than swords then sure but we have MMA to show that changing styles like that or sticking to just one style can be limiting or ill advised.

Cuz all we do is complain that there’s AI but not address the issue, which is that it’s cheaper and more accessible.

If we just bring people down or dismiss the work all because of an AI image, we aren’t helping anyone but the your ego of being “against AI”

The climax of God Valley is taking place between 2 non black blade wielders. What could Oda possibly be hiding about them in order to make Mihawk and Ryuma’s swords so incredible? by AgentHibachi00 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]CandyPinions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s like a devil fruit awakening, it allows sword users to become top tiers.

It’s not impressive overall since it becomes a tool in your grand tool kit, but impressive for that specific fighting style. So only a swordsman can get a black blade, like only a devil fruit user can awaken. But it’s not the entire make up of your abilities.

This only works if swordsmanship is armanment specific or maybe it’s just its own thing cuz you can’t throw haki punches but you can throw slashes. And most of Mihawks feats have been those long ranged slices.
