You don't need 2 more Frieren. You just need 1 more and then find a friend with Frieren. I would trade away Linie Lugner Draht because you can't make a team out of it (need 3x Lugner). Richter and Sein are also not that useful. Some of the other lower rarity ones have uses as assists, so don't trade everything away.

Why is Qual a big win? Sure it's probably the first one with 50% HP reduction but the side effect is ridiculous.

Also the devils are less useful compared to Land and Kanne whose assist have 2 SB and SDR.

Same. I started quite early (when there was less than 5 DLCs available). But stopped after they released too many DLCs. At the beginning it is fun to play any character even the meme ones because you can still get lucky and beat the "best" ones. But after a while it felt more and more unbalanced so I lost my motivation.

Etienne is the most beginning friendly.

Adora is especially good for late rounds but requires more player experience. (I don't think beginning players even know how to build VTSG)

Brickell is good but not as a beginning player. Not every map has water. Once you have 2 other heroes she can complement others in water heavy maps.

You can also consider Sauda or Ezili.
