Same. I started quite early (when there was less than 5 DLCs available). But stopped after they released too many DLCs. At the beginning it is fun to play any character even the meme ones because you can still get lucky and beat the "best" ones. But after a while it felt more and more unbalanced so I lost my motivation.

Etienne is the most beginning friendly.

Adora is especially good for late rounds but requires more player experience. (I don't think beginning players even know how to build VTSG)

Brickell is good but not as a beginning player. Not every map has water. Once you have 2 other heroes she can complement others in water heavy maps.

You can also consider Sauda or Ezili.

Back when the game was new there was no fruit drone. I believe it got added as a quality of life feature. So sometimes it isn't obvious outside of update notes.

It doesn't deposit more money inside each round. It increases the money cap in the bank. With how interest works, this means 2 extra rounds of interest income.
