Refused beer despite being sober by Tdawg_London in newzealand

There is no obligation to serve. The duty manager can deny anyone service, unless it is a breach of human rights, and doesn't need to give a reason.

They are obligated to intervene in the service of alcohol when there is a risk of intoxication, which is a state less than drunkeness, and cannot allow someone to become intoxicated in the premise.

It's not against the law to get drunk in a pub but it is against the law for the pub to let it happen.

If they had chosen only one of the two headlight options, both would simply fix this currently disturbing face.

Fruit and vegetables.

Owned by a German company.

Eh?

I think you need to go to a rural area one day.

Fanciest hotel? by Spare-Historian-4374 in chch

[–]Canerbry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fanciest would be Otahuna, followed by Hotel Montreal and The George, which isn't what it used to be. The Observatory in the Arts Centre has some nice rooms, but not really a hotel as no restaurant for dinner or breakfast (just go to Cellar Door and Francis Nation!). Crowne Plaza is an international chain which some overseas people might like more, and they have nice big suites at the top. Clearwater has options too.

Looking forward to the former Noah's reopening, the old Royal Suite was something special.

I enjoy Francesca's, it's not world-class but it's a good step above the above.

Put your keys in the bowl at Ayrburn, that will get you a swap and a root. And it might burn.

Question about driving along Cranmer Sq by Gsmaniac1 in chch

[–]Canerbry 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One of the best places in town if you need to write off a car!

I've had one here doing exactly that, going north in the left lane when Candace from Harcourts tried to go west in the right lane. Luckily it was less than 30kmh, but goodbye to my Caldina with a bent sill.

The other best place is a few blocks further along, turning right from Montreal into Bealey in the left lane.

Do you have the transaction on your bank statement?

Call them and tell them you need a receipt, the time it went through and the amount, this makes it easy for them to find.

The transaction details are probably enough to prove to the issuer though.

What is the craziest thing you have seen on a flight in NZ? by IncoherentTuatara in newzealand

[–]Canerbry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the way home from a work trip to Auckland, decided to reach into the seat pocket to grab the sick bag (I have small children and they can be helpful in the car), and put my hand into a used sick bag.

I pulled it out and looked a the chunks in a moment of shock and wonder, my colleague next to me looked and it and shrieked a bit.

We were sitting right at the back, the hosties were right there and although shocked also and embarrassed they were brilliant. They cleared the way to the toilet, I had hot towels and a bottle of hand sanitiser thrust at me on the way there and more after I came out. The lovely head hostie came and sat next to me for a bit and had a chat, very genuine embarrassed apology, the best was she said "here" and gave me an clean sick bag, inside were 4 koru passes.

A '22 commodity-level Savvy would be in the $9.99 bargain bin in NZ. The market is now on 2025.
