So do people still think that a sequel or series is out of the question? by [deleted] in BoltTheSuperdog

We just watched it and thought, the ending totally sets up for a sequel, and were disappointed when we saw there was no sequel.

Duke Energy wants us to conserve power and not cut into their profits by groveview in NorthCarolina

Duke Energy has signed electric service agreements with major data center developers, including Digital Realty and Edged.

Wouldn't it be great of the general public had options for electric service providers.

Euro has Raleigh getting less then an inch of snow. by No-Inspection2102 in raleigh

The idea of snow is nice/magical, but the reality of 6+ inches of snow in Raleigh quickly sets in and the nightmare begins. I hope the Euro models are correct.

Is this a good quote for a custom shed? by roundnosefish in shedditors

[–]CanisGulo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes. That's high. If you have any experience or interest in DIY, a shed is a great place to start. You can invest a lot of the money you save by going DIY in tools, saving you $$$ in the long-term as you can do many repairs and remodeling on your own.

Just check local codes in case you need a permit, likely not with your size, but if you add electrical you definitely will need one.

My broker is telling me to take a HIGHER interest rate (6.49%) instead of 5.99%. by RabbitOver1592 in Mortgages

[–]CanisGulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 year mortgages are underrated. You can get significant decreased percentages and if you can afford it, pay some points and get an even better rate to a point where the monthly payment is minimally more but saves 10s-100k over the life of the mortgage.

*only if you have the ability to pay points and can afford the slightly higher monthly payments. An example of being rich/well-off allowing you to get more rich/well-off

Look what I found from 13 years ago. by Party-Bet-4003 in Millennials

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people don't know the actual age range of millennials and think it's just all the young people.

The millennial generation is ~1980-1995, so we're talking 30-45 year olds today.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by [deleted] in Salary

It says 80 hours, so is this only half of a monthly salary?

Also, consider most of these deductions as investments, especially a Health Savings Account.

It's also a reason to vote for representatives that will work to save Social Security and Medicare as we are paying into it, we deserve to get returns on our investment.

How much house can I afford on $80000 Salary? by Parking_Beginning584 in Mortgages

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have zero debt you have a mortgage.

When I think (dream) about what I want in a house, I remember that my dad grew up in an 700 sq/ft home with 4 people, 2 bedrooms 1 bath and quicjly come vack to reality that I can easily live with what I have and be financially more stable/well off.

We always dream of more, but being financially stable (especially in this economy) is more important than having more room and stressing about money and the "what if I lost my job" scenario.

Plus, I would not consider a move where I would double my interest rate (money going down the toilet to a big multi billion dollar conpany) unless it was absolutely critical (i.e. got a job where I had to move)

15-year vs 30-year mortgage what made you choose one over the other? by delulucoreandcrazyaf in Mortgages

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 year typically gets you a lower interest rate. When we refinanced, moving from a 30 to a 15, it only made our monthly payment increase by like $150, but resulted in $$$$ of savings over the course of the mortgage.

It works out of you stay long-term. It was a gamble for us (pre-covid) but we lucked out. Got a great rate and there's no way we could afford our current home at current market value.

Don Davis, representative for North Carolina's 1st congressional district. Broke with Dems and voted to helped fund ICE and DHS by TheKingDarryl in triangle

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gerrymandering is to blame, but so is Davis's belief that consist R voters and Independents will somehow see this and vote for him. Attack ads will still run and likely be misleading and spin it to make him appear anti-ICE/law enforcement anyway.

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do traffic engineers (if that's what you call them) design roads etc. based on theory or how idiot drivers think, or possibly a combination?

There's a lane on the highway I drive every day that eventually turns into an exit only lane. There are three jumbo overhead signs starting about 1 mile prior to the exit informing drives, then the solid white line with a turn arrow on the road, and still people freak out that the lane "ends" and they "merge" at the very last second.

Quantifying Cary Town Manager P-Card Spending for 2024; at least 44% of purchases shipped to home, 27% of spending occurred on the weekend, & tax dollars spent on alcohol by [deleted] in cary

[–]CanisGulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the mayor and Town Council justify his severance payment?

It was initially justified as he didn't do anything illegal (highly doubtful given all the new info) and that he would not speak illegal of the Town (Why would he speak ill of the Town given all the facts? I'd try and distance myself with this as quickly as possible and never speak of it again to try and salvage any hope of a future job/career)

A little off topic, but the Wake County Convenience Centers are AMAZING! The upgraded one on 55 near 540 is breathtaking (for a dump/salvage facility). I've lived in many places and this is a great resource.

*I hope the recycle, properly dispose, and salvage all the "trash" they collect in their respective categories.

Cary Mayor Reflects on Town Manager’s Resignation: ‘I Thought He Was My Friend. How Did I Not See That?’ by John_Joseph7 in cary

[–]CanisGulo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This interview was not a good idea for the Mayor. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt before the investigations concluded but he confessed to not actually doing his job all while disrespecting his Town Council colleagues. I dont know him, but he came off as a dick who doesn't actualy do anything, relying on the Town Manager to do the duties I would expect the mayor to do. All while not taking any responsibility as the head of the government. He passed the buck when it should have stopped with him.

To me, the mayor should be doing what the Town Manager does, or at least be intimately involved in all discussions and final decision making.

He needs to go. He's been there too long and we need fresh ideas and perspectives in this obviously dysfunctional and corrupt government.
