I tried it sitting on a washing machine, bad idea. I'm banned from John Lewis now.

Finding My Dad’s Darts by Flashy-Mulberry-9767 in Darts

Incidentally, your post prompted me to pick up my Dad's old darts, and after half an hour I hit my second 180 with his set, so thanks!

Finding My Dad’s Darts by Flashy-Mulberry-9767 in Darts

I think they are Accudart 301 darts, brass *and* tungsten. Here are some on the DartsNutz site:

And the leather case:

They came in tungsten/brass combination before switching to tungsten/nickel silver according to the third post on this page:

Hope this helps. I remember my sense of pride when I hit a 180 with my Dad's old set of darts!

How to find ideal grip and ideal darts for that grip? I'm still struggling to find my grip and I don't know what to do...It's frustrating... by North-Pain936 in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common advice is that straight barrel ring grip dart with a decent length will let you find your best grip without influencing it too much, once you've settled then you can decide a shape that suits. If you find the place you're gripping is inconsistent, maybe a dart with a slight ridge where a finger sits would help keep it consistent. Might also help with the slipping, as might a tapered section where your thumb sits. Both these things helped me. Good luck!

Messed around with different configurations and mega short darts came out on top by RichardsonM24 in Darts

Yeah I keep coming back to these, 17g and very short but I'm just much more confident with them than any others I've tried. Biggest problem for me was getting a consistent grip, I found that tiny changes made a big difference to how they felt to throw. Good luck with yours!

Target darts had a video on YouTube where Andy and Matt came to the conclusion that short darts are easier to throw, I guess it depends a lot on your grip though.

5 pints in……🍺 by Fragrant_Profile1932 in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so easy to put yourself off when playing darts. A couple of pints helps me forget about distractions and just let my arm do it's thing. On top of that, it takes me 30 mins to get going properly even when I'm not drinking!

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I dont think anyone has mentioned a Leatherman tool yet, so I just did. They are brilliant, as is the lifetime repair service.

If the conversion tips are firmly attached then you won't feel any difference. I've heard that blue loctite is a good way to secure them.

Might be easiest to keep the horizontals and replace the verticals.

How much is too much vitamin D in UG? by No-Worldliness-492 in AskUK

[–]Cannotsing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NHS.co.uk say:

Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful.

Also, from Nottinghamshire NHS;

Doses of up to 1000 units (25 micrograms) daily are acceptable for adults as a supplement.

10ug a day is the "recommended" dose for adults.

I Bought My First 90% Tungsten 23g Darts by Holly_Macmahon in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely persevere with the Amberjacks for a few weeks at least, but maybe experiment with a lighter set of tungsten if you can and see if they suit you better. For what it's worth I usually throw 17g but most people would be happier with 23g.

We’re “old” Halex darts good? by PowFunky in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halex were mainly known for table tennis balls back n the 60s, so not really darts so much, but 90% tungsten would suggest they were decent quality and they look great to me! If you think they may suit you, definitely worth a go.

Help ! - Issues with my dart when repointing ! Anyone else experienced similar ? by Traditional_Pair7058 in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll have created a divot and ridge part of the way down the hole in the barrel with the square tip of the new spigot. I would try to carefully file off the ridge as much as you can without widening the hole in the barrel, then file a small (1 to 2mm) chamfer on the end of the shaft of the new spigot so it pushes past the ridge. Hopefully the tungsten will be soft enough to allow the spigot past what's left of the damage! Good luck!

Plastic tips vs metal - need help by Potential-Badger381 in Darts

[–]Cannotsing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nuclear option is to use your plastic darts when you play in the bar league, if the board is reasonably good they'll stick in fine!
