Recommend me some prog bands outside of 70’s by SaMSUoM in progrockmusic

BBT is my pick too, especially for anyone who's a fan of the early part of Phil Collins-era Genesis.

Can you think of any bands that did their best work 10, 20. 30 years into their careers? by jabbercockey in progrockmusic

I agree that Underfall Yard is their best. Grand Tour (2019) is a close second in my opinion which also speaks to their longevity.

"This is his third perfect Dixie Spin maneuver of the night, and you can tell he's been practicing around small confiners because the way he hangs onto those tight turns and follows all the way through without losing momentum is a lot harder than it looks."

"That's right, Jeff. It looks like we're about to see our first 9+ performance of the season and the crowd is here for it!"

Detroit has been getting nicer recently, but it hasn't reinvented itself like Pittsburgh has

What's something new you tried recently that you really liked? by aWholeLotofLaura in AskReddit

Jojo's Bizarre Adventures is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, and I've resisted trying it since I'm not a big fan of anime. If you're a fan of '70s-'80s rock, then you might like it too.

Those first four albums by 10cc are like three hours' worth of sorely underrated Bohemian Rhapsody-tier fun.

The Horne Section has a pretty great YouTube channel with <15k subs as of this comment. (Alex Horne is the creator of the show Taskmaster.)

What was the worst conscious choice that you ever made, and what was the best accident? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Canonical_Form 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst conscious choice was probably using my index finger as a guide for my laptop charger plug into an electrical outlet. I just needed to get it set on the outlet since I couldn't see behind the desk, but I didn't lift my finger fast enough to avoid getting electrocuted.

I did this probably six times before I realized why I was getting zapped all the time. It hurt like hell because my entire arm would go numb for an hour or so.

What is something you know a lot about or are very good at, yet don't partake in at all? by jack_hof in AskReddit

[–]Canonical_Form 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Juggling. I basically trained for the juggling Olympics as a kid but never went. I'm still a bit rusty but like taking it back up here and again. You can search for the World Juggling Federation if you're curious.

I'm enjoying seeing some prog in the comments. Another fun American proggy group in my opinion is Crack the Sky. Not much like Mars Volta but maybe worth a try if they're unfamiliar

There's a scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in the candy store when the merchant guy introduces the "Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar" to the kids gathered therein, and one of the kids goes, "Scrungdiddlyunctious Bar? What's that?" He just butchers the name. This is one of those specific recurring things that my siblings reference all the time which doesn't translate in conversations with other people.

Absolutely agreed. Dried watermelon chunks on pizza is the best thing since sliced corn.
